As a Tennessee fan, this season may not have ended the way I wanted it to, but this win sure did feel nice.

Milton’s arm is strong and he throws a tight spiral everytime and it’s beautiful!
He did that at Michigan too. I thought he was gonna turn the program around. He was just too careless w/ the ball then.
If he can really get consistent with his accuracy and decision making his draft stick is going to skyrocket!!!
He couldn’t keep Cade McNamara off the field at Michigan. This just goes to show that offensive scheme fit matters, along with the supporting cast.

Huepel and his staff know qbs and how to get the most out of them. Milton has improved by leaps and bounds for last year to this year and even from the Vandy game to this game he's much better but I think a lot of the Vandy game was 1. He didn't have a lot of time working with the 1s 2. They were protecting him not letting him run or take hits because he was the only scholarship qb available that game and 3. The weather played a factor. He could be a #1 pick in 2024 if he plays anywhere near what he did last night throughout 2023

As a Michigan fan seeing Joe Milton have a great game makes me smile. He got a raw deal here and unlike JJ, Cade, Speight, Ruddock and Patterson fans and coaches weren’t patient with him. So glad to see him soaring at Tennessee

Cade had only 1 300 yard game in 16 starts….But ppl swear up and down that Cade was some savior. Okorn got almost an entire season. Fumble prone Patterson got 2 whole years!! Milton barely flicks his wrist and it’s gone, 50 yards downfield. I was nervous for him to take over bc of his inconsistency, but man has he grown. We need our O-line to pick up pressure better and we’ll be set next year! I thought our D had some false bravado going on early (since our D was like 131st in country at 1 point this year) but they pulled it off. Super excited for Vol Nation and Milton III. Also the young DBs and WRs were exciting to watch!

I think they had the Heisman at tonight's game already waiting on Clemsons Qb. For next year. Clemson and the media overlooked the Vols. Kid never lost a game . Guess now he knows he isn't in highschool anymore.

I think we can be just as good next season. We got Milton still white is really good we got Keaton and McCoy and we have the best offensive coach in the nation. And our defense will get better with all the recruits we are getting

I am so proud of this UT vols team. No one ever expected us to even beat Florida or Alabama this year but we proved them wrong. I can’t wait for next year with Big Orange. Til then Rocky Top you’ll always be home sweet home to me.

So true. After years of dominance, it just got embarrassing. Couldn't hardly watch 'em. I was concerned about handing the keys over to Heupel and White, but safe to say they've exceeded best expectations. Very quickly we've moved from not being embarrassing to competitive to winning football and an expectation to win.

Clemson fan here: Tennessee played fantastic. That backup qb for Tennessee starts in any other conference. He was great. I thought Clemson played decent but overall just got outplayed by a better football team and Cade played well for his first game as a starter in college but Tennessee was just the better team this year. They have so many explosive players on the offensive side. Clemson doesn’t have that rn other than Shipley. I think Clemson OL is lacking big time and D secondary is lacking big time. And if they get those two things and a few more explosive WRs they’ll be back in playoffs next year. Atleast I hope lol

Michigan fan here, glad joe milton getting better. He was the hype before jj mccarthy. And then good luck to are other transfer qb Cade mcnamara who just left. He had a good season but everybody knew jj was better. Cade will help iowa and play good football. They will be a tough team next year. Joe had/got plenty arm strength and needed to bring it down. He needed better accuracy/ and not holding it to long.

Coach Heupel actually develops QBs and Milton had a great season with 0 INTS. His stats were good every time he was called upon and I honestly believe the team plays better with Milton in there

Man I had my doubts about this game as a vol fan. I thought Clemson was a bad matchup and that they’d finally found their QB..and we had lost Hendon, Hyatt and Jeremy Banks.
But Milton proved me wrong! He’s the man next year. I hope he continues to get better and maybe this time they won’t snub Tennessee for the Heisman

Clemson is weak, and is only ACC champs because they are in the weakest P5 conference. FSU is the only legit ACC team (they beat LSU, Florida, and Oklahoma). They had a minor skid at the beginning of the season, which included losing to this terrible Clemson team, but they corrected ship and surged after that.
Tennessee has never had a good win. Even 98 was a fluke.

I think what makes me so happy about this win was the fact that Dabo was talking trash, then had to back track what he said and then his team got dragged by basically a 2nd and 3rd string Tennessee team. This loss would have been much greater if they faced the healthy Tennessee team. Good game to both programs, though. The future looks bright for both.
As a FSU fan, glad to see the VOLS destroy Clemson. I know it’s hard to believe I’m not a conference fan, I only cheer for 1 team, not the entire conference.
And FSU should have been playing in this game. Minor skid at the beginning of the season (including losing to Clemson) but they surged late. Beating LSU, Florida, and now Oklahoma. Much better than Clemson who beat pathetic ACC teams and got destroyed whenever they played a P5 from another conference.

This was literally an Orange Bowl.
New Clemson QB has some Jordan Travis similarities. Super quick feet and mobile, body build, nice touch throwing and good long ball accuracy, moment not too big and he has plenty of room to grow like Jordan did. Just see some similarities between the 2, but this is the first I really got to watch Cade play as well!

The South Carolina loss certainly kept UT out of the playoff, and what stings about it is had UT slowed their tempo, gone to a run-focused scheme, they probably would've won that game. With that said, Joe Milton looked great. The defense was "bend, but don't break", and it's the first time in two decades that I can confidently look to the next season and say Tennessee can win it all. Clemson's QB is very good. I think they should've run the ball more, but despite that, the QB is elite. So, Clemson fans have much to look forward to. Great match-up, great fan bases, and I'm sure Miami's Chamber of Commerce was elated to host these two programs and fan bases -$$$$$$
No, if Tennessee’s coach would’ve squashed the locker room beef and got them team together before the game AND NOT OVERLOOKED South Carolina, then they’d won that game. Tennessee’s defense layer down on the team that night. The team was divided and they thought they’d just walk through South Carolina because of the week before. But SC is scrappy. Once they started trying to play serious it was already out of hand.

And Carolina is one of those teams that can beat or lose to just about any team in college football. Rattler had a game that day as well.
Vol fan of over 40 years here, and that South Carolina game was a perfect storm. No way we were winning that game, even with Banks. Rattler was playing with his hair on fire, and I don't think he'll ever replicate that performance. It was a perfect game by the Gamecocks, and a total dud by Tennessee's defense. It felt like Beamer sold his soul to the devil to get that win.
The Orange Bowl use to be the last bowl game played on New Years day back in the last century when TV was free for all.

There wasn't much of a drop off without Hendon hooker. S. White should've got more playing time during the season, Tennessee has a lot of new talent joining them next year and they need to explode, great win Vols.

@Birdz_ As a coach you have to find a way to play your best playmakers. White, Hyatt, and Tillman would've been a dangerous big 3.

There definitely was a major drop off. Vols score 40+ tonight with Hooker and Hyatt on the field. Still a solid team though. White looks awesome and Bru and Keyton looked real solid too. Milton’s decision making and execution isn’t quite Hooker level, but heisman QBs don’t come around every season. He still has great talent.
He was Hyatt’s backup and is a freshman, he’ll get lots of play in the coming years

From what I've heard and read, I'm confident he will return. He's waited his turn; he played like a starting QB, mainly keeping his arm strength in check; so I'm confident he'll come back.

Tennessee fans have kept telling me what a great game Milton played, but he didn't impress me that much. I mean he didn't play bad, but he isn't the guy who will beat Alabama or Georgia. I am not sold on them beating Texas A&M or South Carolina.

Exactly, stacking wins against the weak ACC padded their stats. As soon as they played anyone outside of the conference, they got manhandled. They probably wouldn’t make a bowl if they were in the SEC or Big Ten. FSU is the only legit ACC team based on their P5 wins outside conference
I can't disagree. The ACC was very weak this year and for the three big OOC games Clemson looked poor.
