Freddie is not only hilarious but creative as hell. I would love to see him get his own TV show one day i really think he can pull it off. As im getting older im starting to hate skits but gibbs is one of the few that i dont mind because they are always funny as hell and creative, you can see it in his music videos too.
Really loved this album front to back. It's just a no bullshit, no frills album where Freddie raps his ass off over great beats without relying on features and gimmicks.
Freddie Gibbs is back with another top tier album. Wasn't so singing, gimmicks, or him attempting to go for mainstream accessible sound just top tier rapping. This might be his best work since Bandana with Madlib! Favorite songs Rabbit Island Cosmo Freestyle Brick frees Steel Doors Origami On the Set
This is top tier rapping on display. No singing, no features, no gimmicks, just great rapping and flows over dope ass beats also Insane replay value on this one. I'm tired of rappers always doing experiment and trying to find new waves. Sometimes you just have to stick with the basics.
Disagree. This is a new wave cos it doesn't sound like anything out right now imo. Who else is rapping like this over this type of production? Westside didn't experiment and no one is talking about his album
High replay value and some true bops! This album really surprised me because it is better than SSS and more introspective by Gibbs' standards. I expected it to be a whole bunch of trap and super negative stuff but it was a pleasantly chill experience. So many bops too! The producers did they thang! 💪🏿
I like that Kinge sticks to his guns. It gives perspective on what to actual critiquing. just because everyone is into it, doesn't mean YOU must! I think it's a major flaw in the myriad of hip-hop fans. The general populous wants to bend your taste to their consensus when they aren't the ones consuming your choice of music. I think it should be fair to simply have an artist who can be rated as gifted but is not for you. That's what being unique truly is about.
I get what Ken is saying 100% Freddie is at his best when he flows over 'alternative' or 'experimental' production. Don't get me wrong, he obliterates every beat he touches pretty much. However, at least in my opinion, the production on this album mostly feels safe and not really anything fresh or super exciting. Hearing him over Madlib and Alc beats are just on another level, and it isn't even close. He is one of the only artists who can find a pocket on those tracks and really make something unique and fresh. I feel like Ken maybe thinks similarly to this.
This album cemented the fact that 2024 has been the best year of hip hop releases of the 2020s so far. ScHoolboy, Peggy, Vince, Lupe, and I even enjoyed a Tyler the Creator album which is a first for me. But this Freddie joint is different. First album this year that I’d actually rather listen front to back every time than individual tracks
Yeah, I think because Drake & Kendrick took up the year people trying act like the year wasn't good for music but there's alot of skilled MCs that have come out to play
Freddie's on his game. I feel the theme of the album (especially contrasted with "you only live twice) reflect really well the contradiction of the artist, how ambiguous of a figure he is in the rap game. On the set best track, brick fees close second
I really like this joint, def helps that is different than what I normally listen to. All the other hardcore rappers are very same with production and content. Def better than his last release.
My problem with SSS was fred kinda chased a sound a little bit its still solid af tho. I like anniversary but he sounded gassed on that joint he didnt have that same freddie gibbs power in his vocals. But this album was haaarrd af! 🔥🔥🔥 replace a few songs on sss with a few songs on here n its perfect.
My Album of the year by far and it's not even close and Ken just pissed me off. He's on review timeout. It's always that one person in the room when everyone likes it they have to buck the system.

Cosmo freestyle on replay and I love the devil skits Slink makes it funny . But Freddy has been dropping great material Soul Souled Separatley wasn't bad but it was kinda commercial.
I feel like im with ken here but even more so, the first two are dope to me its your anniversary is dope but overall its freddie talking about bitches he hates and loses the plot fast for me
If we're talking just catalogs. Freddie would have to be top 5 of the blog era. The only ones you can really put in front him is Kendrick, Krit, SchoolBoy & maybe cole depending on how you feel about certain projects.
I gotta say. I thought sss was ok. I really this album was more funny and liked freddie's energy. Beats were nice too. Not good as alfredo or madlib collabs but I'll take it.
This album was pretty solid. The smoothness really was the highlight. He flowed on these tracks so good. I probably won’t return to it often though. Honestly, agree with Ken. Top songs Rabbit Island Walk It Off Cosmo Freestyle Wolverine Steel Doors Brick Fees
There was none by name but some people he sneak dissed on the track where he said " he might record it but if the boy don't support it you just a ducking lick" talking about the track with Drake and Benny.
So i went back to listen to this because i was really wondering what people were hearing. And mind you, I'm an AVID Freddie fan, but this album was one of his most mid. Everything he did on this project he did better on previous works. One thing about Gibbs is he's an underrated technical rapper, and he was sloppy all over this album. Missing his marks, his one liners were eh, his punches didn't hit as hard. The samples were flipped better on other albums. He even used Slim better as Jesus on You only Live Twice than he did as the devil here. His heart wasn't in this project, so much so that he just threw it out there by surprise. Maybe it's because all the attention is finally off the trash rappers we've had from the last decade, but I'm with Ken here this really wasn't it. Dope art work, and mid from Freddie is still top tier, but naw he's had much better. And y'all fronted on SSS.
Ayo ima say this without the intent of disrespecting anybody but what is OG even doing on this platform? He dont ever like nothing and his age really be showing with these takes he be having. He look and sounds so out of his element. This aint just cause he didnt love this Gibbs album but shit he ain’t bring a damn thing to the conversation. Last few videos i seen from yall he aint like the album yall were reviewing. Everyone can have an opinion but come on Fam Gibbs is one of the best out and this album specifically checks off every box. Freddie demonstrates the absolute pinnacle of rapper skills on this project from start to finish and the production is so on point. Freddies flows, lyrics, and wordplay on here are at a level that few dudes in the game today can reach. If this album fell that flat to old head then maybe its time to realize he dont know wtf he is talking about. His ear just aint cutting it in 2024. Just cause you liked rap in the 80s and 90s and felt like you was a hiphop head does not make you qualified to be on any platform attempting to discuss and rate albums of today. He aint like Rome’s last jawn, Still Praying, and now this Gibbs joint. How Sway?? Seems like a good dude so i dont mean any disrespect but OG is bringing yall platform way down with these horrendous grades and talking points.
You gotta be new here 😂 Check out some of the reviews that Ken and FeeFo do on the DE365 podcast. They cover a lot more different artists there and you might be surprised what artists/projects have impressed him this year. Devin Malik is someone whose project he enjoyed from earlier in the year.
That’s lowkey his best album to me. On Piñata and Bandana he had Madlib to help him with the direction, same for Alfredo. For this one, his was "on his own" and the result was stellar especially the rapping on it
Don’t understand why you dont review any of Young Roddy albums? He just literally just a group album with Good$ense x OTB….Yall Hip Hop but not reviewing that REAL Hip Hop
Album is wack sonically, you can tell that with out any artist killing it rn he can’t grab on to the sauce. so he is actually being himself. It comes off mediocre 😂
Eventually Freddie is gonna drop a bar about Ken 😂

Freddie has the best hooks in rap "tool on me, never let a bitch play the fool on me"
Easily the best album this year in my opinion, Gibbs continues to have arguably the best discography in the genre🤷🏾♂️
Agreed n awaiting his collab wit Madlib ..Montana album

My AOTY. Freddie slid on this one.
My favorite track is “it’s your anniversary”.
Yooo that track is great 🔥 definitely in my top 2 or 3 on the album.
Whenever Freddie flips a classic RnB track he spazzes on them
