air hockey is a game I love but I've never watched a higher level game before. this is pretty cool and I've learned a lot just from watching this and it's inspired me to learn more about this sport!
I’ve always enjoyed playing Air Hockey at arcades, but these guys manipulate the puck so well and seamlessly it’s impressive. I might get a air hockey table for Christmas since I can’t go to any arcades at the moment. I wanna get better at it.
My wish too,but my questions are:Maintenance, who's gonna join you from the neighborhood(if they want or will be available to you),does your house has enough space, keep the table clean(to avoid dust),etc…will it be worth the investment?Otherwise I recommend other cheaper games or other fun things like play on a park,go to the beach which are free activities and doesn't cost too expensive, fun shouldn't cost too much as arcades today are too expensive,in 2023 my hometown's arcade has a promotion which allows at max,a marathon of 22 plays

Correct, gives you more range of motion when shooting, and allows for some deception as well. Some people still hold the middle when playing defense, since it can absorb some of the impact from incoming pucks
Clearly not the same kind of talent gap as in other table sports like ping pong or billiards. You can spot an elite pong or pool player immediately. I've seen guys slap pucks around like this in every arcade I've ever been to.
Every arcade ive been to has chumps bouncing the puck to the other side by default, no puck control, trying to do silly "double/triple" bank shots, floundering around, cheating blatantly, etc. These dudes are no nonsense, hit clean deadly shots, and have this game down to a science.
The "out defense" has taken over air hockey defenses in the past 20-30 years because it is superior at blocking straight shots by cutting off the angle.
