I like the idea of this song being before dissention, idk the song doesn't scream the rage and insanity the strangled part of the creepypasta shows, but it DOES sounds like an argument. My personal idea for this song is about - in sequence of the phases - 1) Mike asks steven to borrow miki to complete his pokedex. 2) They notice miki hasnt came out still of the trading system, as the song gets quiter. 3) Steven starts to freak out and becomes distressed as the error message shows up, and mike also gets scared, at the same time he tries to make Steven calm down. 4) The song ends in the argument "ending" with Steven running away and mike desesperate for the forgiviness of his younger brother That's what i tought that happend at least, because in the song both of them sound kinda distressed

Both are good, this one's drop arrives way too late in the song while Dissension is consistently hitting hard, and the chromatics on Dissension sound better than the ones in Cheated. The vocals in Cheated seem to be carrying the song while in Dissension, the instrumental is hard carrying with all the stuff going on in the background assisting the vocals, especially those of Steven's. In all honesty, Dissension is more well-crafted, but Cheated is still a great song on its own.
Basically the story takes place before Pokémon red. there are 2 brothers, Steven, a red looking kid with long black hair and his brother Mike. They both go through the process of becoming champions (without the hurdles of team rocket) and they both almost have every Pokémon registered in the Pokédex. And the only Pokémon that mike needs is charizard which fortunately for him is his brother Steven’s partner Pokémon named Miki. Unfortunately for Steven while trading his charizard is strangled in the trading tubes which send him into a depressive spiral. He tries everything to get her back until he eventually figures out he can bring her back with Missingno. Unfortunately after getting missingno and resurrecting Miki (Extremely mangled mind you) it’s implied that missingno corrupted Steven’s mind even further, which results in Steven strangling Mike while he’s asleep. This song takes place while Steven is chocking mike. Thank you for coming to my Ted talk

This song is too good, I know Dissension is good but I feel it fits more into the theme of "Strangled Red", Due to the missingno glitches and the lavender town theme, the truth is that in the key part I feel that it has a better instrumental
(advance warning for idle scrollers like me: this comment is VERY long. only open if you're ready for what's essentially an essay about this song alone) i get where people are coming from when they say that they think Cheated is better than Dissension because of it feeling more intense, but i personally think that Dissension is a good foil to Cheated Dissension puts a lot more focus on Steven than Mike despite you playing as the latter, so i picture that as being from more of Steven's perspective whereas Cheated sounds like it's more from Mike's (especially since with the less intense tone of Dissension it feels more like a "he deserves this" thing whereas here it's got more of the "IM BEING FUCKING KILLED" tone) in the end it still kinda sucks that this wasn't used because really the only part that doesn't click with me is Steven's voice: it just doesn't _feel_ like Steven. if it was meant to be more like a "Steven got fucked up by his grief, his desperation, and Missingno, so now he sounds like this" i feel like it could have used some buggy effects or something? hell even pitching it up a little would probably make it sound more like him but this may have been a beta chromatic and could have been changed if the song ended up getting put in the mod. it doesn't even sound bad--i've heard far worse chromatics--but it really just feels wrong for Steven adding onto this: i've seen speculation that this was meant to be Professor Oak v.s. Steven, set at the point where he uses Missingno to revive Miki. while that certainly seems possible with the Lavender Town motifs and buggy sounds, i don't really see why the song would get so intense all of a sudden if that was the case. it's not like Oak is dead-set on stopping Steven, as even in the original story he's just doing his usual "hey maybe don't" routine. also the thought of the deeper voice being Oak just doesn't sit right with me? like it feels _wrong._ the voice feels inherently _wrong,_ and that's partially why i believe this to be Steven v.s. Mike. if this is Steven's voice it conveys that he's no longer the same man he used to be, and never will be again. it doesn't even make the song impossible to listen to, either--the fact that the voice is unsettling really adds to the experience. if the deeper voice is Oak, it's probably that way to try and show that. yknow hes old and all. but that's just not how he's supposed to sound to me, and since Strangled Red takes place before Red starts his journey in canon he'd actually be at least a little younger than normal, making the voice make less sense. of course, the instrumental motifs still do their part in conveying this to be Oak and Steven, though they may also just be there for plot relevance tl;dr i'm thinking about this too much and mostly just rambling about the chromatics

for some reason i don't see this song in a story about steven and mike i see it in a story where a bug type AI trainer (left) confronts the player character that chose the fire starter (right) for burning down the forest when his fire Pokémon learned its first flame move the build up the mouth of the AI and some trees in the background start smoking and in the beat drop fire engulfs the forest and the AI lights ablaze
