S v Nhlanhla Dlamini Does the arrest have a legal basis

Nhlanhla Lux Dlamini was arrested on 24 March 2022 and remained in police custody over the weekend leading to Monday 28 March when he was expected to appear in court. The reason for the arrest was unauthorised intrusion and entry into the house of a Dobsonville resident who later on alleged that Nhlanhla Lux and the members of his self-styled Dudula movement had stolen money from his house. While many believed that his arrest was meant to victimise him for his role in the Dudula movement, the real issue was that he had committed a common law offence of housebreaking by conducted a search without a warrant.
