    Good start but you don't explain how the "buttons" allow a change in pitch, ie., note. By lifting a pad to open a hole you are essentially altering the length for resonating to occur (so establishing the wavelength of the fundamental of the note sounded) - the longer the length the lower the note.It's similar to organ pipes where a pipe can only sound one note, so a rank of pipes may start at very small, to give the highest note, then successively longer to individually produce the notes along the keyboard. I guess a more obvious comparison is the recorder or the flute where covering/uncovering holes selects the resonant length - giving the note (although these aren't reed instruments so, like the organ analogy, this is simplistic but conveys the basic idea).
    Have fun with the sax, an instrument unloved by some but in fact, with its entire family, an incredibly versatile instrument. Although made of metal, it's technically classed as a woodwind instrument as it "works" in a similar way to instruments like the clarinet. It can be smooth, delicate and haunting, and it can be loud and assertive, even aggressive.

    Very basic concept of all air instruments. Not much explanation of anything here save for the mouth piece and the basics: the longer the flow the lower the pitch.

    Curious: you are better explaining than all the Spanish videos. Also think I'm Argentinean so I don't understand very well the English language so imagine than understand you better in English than all tutorials in Spanish!

  • @jamesbarratt593

    loads of problems with my YAMAHA YAS 280. Like first the student sax comes with reeds which professional players use 2.5. Like why do that when all else say change to 1.5 whilst learning. The pink panther tune has G sharp and octave pressed at one point. Octave key allowed for AGED to be played, then suddenly only A. Try blowing G and nothing.
    So spending more thinking the learning will benefit from it aint true.

    • @scoopscience
      @scoopscience  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes! But also technically, the saxophone is a woodwind instrument.

    • @bryangl1
      @bryangl1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @J0hnX0n Although essentially made from brass, it's strictly a woodwind instrument because of the way it's played, that is, using a reed (although some modern "reeds" are synthetic) to generate the vibration/sound wave . Brass instruments don't have reeds.

    • @dokamatla1606
      @dokamatla1606 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      True, and it can be confusing becoz the saxophone has a bell like almost all brass instruments
