Sewing is a slow deliberate art I want to enjoy for myself. But I would make a small lap quilt for someone SPECIAL. This year I did make quilted placemats with Ankara fabrics for a niece and dear friend. Sewing is also expensive and I learned with crocheting gifts not every one appreciates my time or efforts. 😅 So with few exceptions, I plan to keep sewing for me which gives me joy. I’ve arrived at an age where I don’t believe everyone deserves my artistry. 😮
I totally understand the gift dilemma. I have a few people I know who are truly appreciative of the effort but I think it takes a special person to appreciate handmade gift!
I can be pretty selfish when it comes to sewing, but I do sew for others like my hubby, my sons, and rarely for people at church.❤ Girl, if it takes a relaxer to make it do what it do, then that's what you do!😂❤😂❤😂
Certainly!!! It’s little things that help make my life a little easier and relaxer is one!!! You’re doing well I’d your church friends are getting handmade garments. Well done!!!!
I sew garments exclusively for myself; but I make lined drawstring bags out of my scraps to give presents in. ❤ I have enjoyed getting to know more about you, your culture and your love for sewing. Thank you for this Vlogmas, Caribbean style.
Although I sew for myself, I mostly sew for organizations that donate dresses to girls in other countries. One of the organizations I sew for is dress a girl around the world. I'm in my 60s and my kids are grown and the grandkids are big (although I have made each of them a machine embroidered quilt)😊
I'm selfish as can be! Sewing is just for me. Once in a while I sew for my family but only when it's something I really want To make. LOVE THE HAIR! 🔥🔥🔥
I don’t sew for anyone else. I’ll do (very) small projects for gifts but it doesn’t excite me and I am struggling to find time to sew for myself so I cannot be sewing for others. No thanks. Love the outfit! The floral colours really suit you!
I don't know if I would call myself a selfish sewer! What I do know is sewing is my happy place. It brings me joy, it brings me comfort. I have offered to sew for my husband and children and although they always compliment me on my makes they say, no thank you. I have people outside the home who try to persuade me to sew for them and even suggest they would pay me😮 however, once I start sewing for money, sewing is no longer my happy place😢
I hear ya! That's why I only sew for myself and for the fun of it, well most times. I’ve done a handful of commissions over the years and didn’t find them enjoyable!
Hi Kris! I’m mostly a selfish sewer but will make things for my boys and crafty things for my mom. I wish I could have a relaxer because it’s so much easier, but I developed an allergy and I cannot get them. Your hair is beautiful! I use to get roller wraps all the time. TFS!
Your boys are lucky!!!! Oh wow at the relaxer. I’ve never heard that before. Oh my goodness. Thank the Lord there are tons of other options though right?!
I am mostly a selfish sewist. I do make some things for my husband and 2 of my friends every Christmas. I consider it selfish when sewing for my husband. I get tired of hearing him whine about his sleeves being too short and the pocket isn't big enough for his phone. He purrs when he puts on one of my shirts (Love Notions Dockside). Enjoy your day.

I'm so glad you're enjoying Vlogmas with me. I'm having so much fun sharing my Caribbean flair! Drawstring present bags sound like a great idea!!!!

I can relate about not feeling excited when sewing for others. It somehow sucks the fun out of the hobby!!! Thanks it’s my Nina Lee bakerloo dress

How can one be selfish with their hobby. I sew exclusively for myself. However, on very rear occasion I will sew for my husband😅😊
I love this!!!!!!! Imma add this to my list of responses when asked!
Hi Kris, I sew for myself (80%) and my daughter(20%), I may also make a gift or two. I love your hair! 💖💖
I love that you share your sewing with your daughter. 💕 Even 20% is a lot!! Thank you so much 😊

🤣🤣🤣this gave me a good chuckle. I do love how you consider sewing for him selfish as well 😆 if only to get him to shush 🤣🤣🤣
Mostly selfish but both
I hear this!!! One or two people may benefit from out handiwork 😃
