My strategy is: 1) give up the $10 gift (some ugly looter mob?). 2) AR will release new game road maps around Feb. You might see new games that will chill down your Evershade fever. 3) if the thirst still has not faded, wait after the 1st shipment and check out the user unboxing and reviews. If everything looks good, pledge all game-play component + premium book upgrade.
Hi - your questions are reasonable and I would suggest that you watch the gameplay videos which Awaken Realms released as well as the development diaries which go into good detail too. I am 100% backing this game, and while I have a ton of campaign games, the deep RPG elements and branching story line really appeals to me here.
Do you think there will be a big difference between this game and Taitend Grail or ISS Vanguard? I can see that the RPG/D&D element is a big factor in the (beginning of the) game, but once characters have been created, I can't really see a lot difference between character development in Tainted Grail and LoE
I promised myself at the start of the year that I’m not backing any more crowdfunders until I’ve made proper progress with the games I have! So I’m enjoying all of the videos but staying away! I have completed this year Tales from the Red Dragon Inn, Kinfire Chronicles, Journeys in Middle Earth, Sleep Gods Distant Skies to name a few… And my thought is I can buy games like this down the line if I still want them.
@@lystic9392 The thing is this is a heavy story focused game, you will probably want to get the premium version (color) of the book. And there will probably be lots of errors due to the sheer amount of text, which mean update will be costly.
I backed this game! This game seems to be straight up my alley. I like the character building and story driven games. Plus the art is just amazing. I still have games on the shelves to play, which I play with groups. I play Etherfields solo as I like the puzzles. I see Lands of Evershade as a potential to play solo (after Etherfields) or with my wife. Or even with my kid when she gets older. I don't mind if the combat mechanics are on the simple side immersion in a story is just lovely. Greetings from NL 😉👍🏽
Thanks for supporting our channel! I totally get why you like this game (or is that just my FOMO talking...?). Arrrgggghhh, I can’t make up my mind! It’s a lot of money for yet another campaign game, so I’ll just keep hesitating a little longer. ;-) Groeten, Frank
Also - only take the sleeves if you do not take the Premium pledges. If you take the Premium pledge - do not take the sleeves, as you would not be able to use sleeved cards in the dual-layer boards
The rulebook and scenarios aren’t even finished yet. You all know that, right? Also - Dear reader: This isn’t “it.” This isn’t “the one.” No game is. There is no FOMO. Someone will always sell it at a reasonable price when it’s out, I guarantee you. Finish what you have or look for finished games first and foremost instead of speedrunning a shelf of shame.
Reminds me of ISS Vanguard with even just less combat, why build up your combat skills if you are not going to use them? Just ability checks and keywords to tell you which passage next to read. I do agree to it may be best to wait until the reprint comes around.
The FOMO is hitting me hard with this one, but I already have several campaign games that I haven’t even started yet right now I’m in the middle of Forge, which is pretty awesome. I think my wife will kill me if I spend 400 bucks on a new game when I have ones unopened
@ that’s a good point. I had like five kick starters from the past several years all shipped within a two month period. My wife was kind of looking at me like really do you need more?
“Ones” plural? Hey, mate. I really hope you’r doing well. I totally understand FOMO, etc, but try to keep in mind what is happening here. You can’t even buy the game right now. You are put in a token to maybe get it in 2027. I know it’s easy to fall into consumerist hole, but keep in mind two things: 1 - You can ALWAYS get it later and it won’t be that more expensive for the crowdfunding stuff, I guarantee you. There is NO real FOMO in physical goods. Someone will always re-sell it at some point. 2 - No matter how many games you get, the hole you feel inside will never be filled. This one isn’t “it.” This one isn’t “the one.” No game is or will ever be. Play what you have and keep them novel in your head. Try to get excited about experiencing the ones on your shelf. Why would you buy another cake if haven’t even fished or tried the oneS you have? Even more if we’re talking about a cake that won’t spoil.
1 - FOMO in physical games isn’t real. It’s an illusion. Someone will always re-sell it at some point. 2 - No matter how many games you get, the hole you feel inside will never be filled. This one isn’t “it.” This one isn’t “the one.” No game is or will ever be. Play what tou have. Be done with them first, THEN move on. Otherwise, will just have a mountain of expensive “what ifs” and promises that will only make you and your wife feel bad about. Use this money for something you’re gonna use today, not “maybe in the future if I feel like it and if Another game doesn’t come up first and if I can even remember/see it underneath all the others I already have.”
@McAllisterSellsFlorida: You perfectly summarized my considerations. Even the disapproval of the missus is spot on. It's a shame you wrecked the street credibility for both of us by bringing our wives into the discussion. ;-)
I’m unsure about the whole Choose Your Own Adventure style of play. It just doesn’t grab me to flip around in a book all the time. Just too much reading (or listening to app), compared to other games that are more dynamic.
I had a blast playing Tainted Grail. It struck just the right balance between storytelling, exploration, and gameplay. ISS Vanguard, on the other hand, leans a bit too heavily on the storytelling for my taste. It feels more like a constant interruption rather than a complementary part of the game. I can’t say for sure, but it seems like LoE is a bit more similar to Tainted Grail."
I like how other commenters mention waiting for a 2.0 campaign. I forget how often that happens for big campaign games. I want to back it but have a surplus of campaign games to play. Most recently, Tidal Blades 2. And Arydia had an update today saying games are about to be on boats! Arydia has a similar ttrpg feel with deeper combat in my opinion. I’m still on the fence knowing LoE won’t fulfill for quite some time. Most likely sometime in 2026. That will give me plenty of time to play my games.
I remember Tidal Blades 2-I struggled with the Kickstarter campaign as well, hesitating whether to pledge. It looks like you’ve got a great game library. LoE would definitely be a perfect addition! ;-)
I think it’s quite manageable-probably better than ISS Vanguard, for instance. There are fewer moving parts and components, but without sacrificing too much of the actual gameplay. That said, if you’re really into solo player games, have you checked out Storyfold yet? It doesn’t compare to LoE, but it’s such a charming (and fully dedicated solo player) game! It’s on Kickstarter right now, in case you’re interested.
@@1D6nl I literally just acquired a Kickstarter copy of ISS Vanguard and am just getting into the rules. I keep hearing Storyfold is good but the theme isn't in my wheelhouse. Although typically ISS Vanguard doesn't fit my tastes either since I'm pretty much high fantasy and not much else. But I kept hearing how good it was so I gave it a shot after finding an amazing deal I pretty much would probably never going see again. Lands of Evershade really has my interest if its true that its a good combination of TTRPG and board gaming. I'm always on the look out for a marriage of the two to satisfy my thirst.

I admire your self-control!
It seems like you have thought this plan through well...!

Yes, it is a must-have. :)
May wait for 2.0 after the community have ironed it out as usual.
Unfortunately, there is some truth to what you're saying. It seems impossible to produce such an extensive game flawlessly right away.
As long as there is a way to update 1.0 content to 2.0, I don't think that's too big of a deal. And you would be waiting for quite some time.

On the other hand, Tainted Grail had a 2.0 and the differences are so miniscule it doesn't even matter. The waiting advantage is way overstated.

@1D6nl I'm curious what you decide. You still have some time to think about it. 😁

It is the story of Elden Ring in an AR way...
I'm strictly a solo player and I'm really wondering how this plays solo?

I have a ton load of campaign games waiting for me. I’ll skip this time. I have years of play lying around.
Sounds familiar... though it’s hard to resist this new and shiny AR game!
