- At a distance of just 70 km from Bangalore, Mandaragiri hill is the perfect weekend getaway near Tumkur. It's just 450 steps of an easy trek to enjoy serene sunrise or beautiful sunset. There are 3 ancient Jain temples on top of the hill and a very beautiful Pinchi (peacock feather duster) shaped Jain temple with the statue of Bahubali at the foothills of the temple. Ascending the hill: 1:56 to 2:44
Hill top: 2:44 to 4:24
Jain temple and bahubali statue at the base: 4:24 to end
Adding update for access to lake (as on 14th Aug 2022):
1. A dirt road from the base of the hill goes around the hill to reach a rocky lake shore. Distance is 1.3 km.
2. The same road also winds up steeply on the hill after touching the lake to reach back side of temple at the hill top. Hence, you can climb the hill by stairs, visit temple and then climb down from the other side on foot to reach the lake.
3. Private vehicles not allowed on weekends on this road. You can walk 1.3 km (15 min walk) from base of hill. Easily walkable. Saw a cycling group take their cycles on it and go to hill top. Otherwise only locals were using motorbikes to travel on it. Road only goes to hill top, so they were also temple workers or construction crew.
4. Temple trust is now making that whole road cemented with 2 lane width right up to the top of the hill. Due to construction activity, don't think private cars now go on it even on weekdays. The work from base to lake shore is 80% done. In 6 months, the lake should be even more easily accessible (looks like they will allow private cars on it for easier access to temple).
5. In a nutshell, don't plan for off-roading in your car upto lake. Prepare for a 1.3 km walk.

I think back ground music up to 4:25 was a distraction! Some research may help as to which kind of music might relate to a spiritual place located on a mountain like this one.
Other than that, it was a good quality video of Stepstogether as usual.
Yes, we understand that you expected classical music with indian instruments to be played in the background just like the documentaries shown in Doordarshan. But we went for this trip just as travellers and not as spirituality seekers. So the music added was according to the experience we had there. This is one of the piligrimage places for Jains that to the Tumkur Jains .The Statue is not Bahubali Sri Chandranatha Seamy one of the 24 Thirthankaras.
