    I don't have any children to homeschool but I am so grateful for the good and the beautiful and can't wait to start the constitution course. I actually ordered the history year 1 through 4 about 2 years ago so I can strengthen my knowledge in history and really liked it. Thank you for posting so much about the constitution course I have been recommending it to friends and family because I think it can be so useful for adults especially in the current climate!

      Wow, thank you for posting this comment. I find I am so awestruck and humbled by your taking your education into your own hands as an adult and learning all the things you have missed in school.

    I love what you said about Bible--some good discussion questions and a few memorized versus really help with our Bible study as a family. ❤️

    I LOVED what you said about Bible curriculums feeling forced. I feel that portion of the video was meant to speak to me. I'm going to look at Bible time differently now and making it much more organic than I have in the past. Thank you, Thank you.

    Even though I have been watching your videos forever I still really appreciate your end-of-the-year reviews and I’m so excited you are still making TH-cam videos with your older kids because I am right behind you and I am diligently taking notes as ideas for us moving forward as well. so thank you for your time in doing that even though you may feel like it’s redundant it’s does not come across that way on our end.

    If you can't tell by my constant commenting, I'm catching up on some videos I have missed. I am exactly like you in that when a curriculum is working and I absolutely love it, I keep it going for the next child!

    Hi Ashley, love your videos. Wanted to share that we have been very happy with Excelsior Classes. My daughter is in the same grade as your oldest. They offer some fun electives, in addition to core classes and kiddos get to work in groups during the live class. The teachers are wonderful as well.

    I switched middle school Math curriculum for my Granddaughter to DIVE - which is Saxon Math and video lessons by Dr Shormann. I really liked it because the book explained the concepts well and Dr Shormann did also. I found that curriculum based on a review you gave on Shormann math. They provide 30 free lessons which I really appreciated.

    Always love seeing what others accomplish all year! Loved it! Since you guys love BJU DLO for some things, we would highly recommend their math should you ever need another recommendation again too. My kids LOVE it, very independent for Mom, and very thorough. That's one of our sticking with it curriculums 6 years in.

    You know what’s funny, I’m a mom that has been inconsistent with curriculum and have switched things up way too many times- EXCEPT in math. We love our math program so much I’ll never switch. It’s Teaching Textbooks! Lol! Which I know you switched from. 😋

    Hello,
    I will be new to homeschooling this coming school year. I’m curious if the history course US Constitution & Government, if it would suffice for fulfilling the social studies subject as well? Also, have you used the free pdf’s from The Good & The Beautiful? If so do you think it’s worth the cost to print vs. buying from the company?
    Thank you!

    • @ashleyr.3273
      @ashleyr.3273 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m not that Ashlee lol… however, I would say that you could easily add more learning to the Constitution course and use it alone as your history for the year. There were several books that I thought of for the kids to read as we went through the course. Also- I would order their stuff printed from the company for sure. I believe that’s the only option for the Constitution course but I could be wrong.

    you are right. normalize not jumping around curriculum all the time! unless something really isn't working at least wait until the end of the year. a lot of moms seem to think of homeschooling as a hobby for themselves. they'll change their kids curriculum sometimes multiple times a year. I watched a mom whose reasoning was "I'm just a curriculum junkie, I like to see what's out there and I get bored" like what 🙄 what about your kids education lol

    I wish the masterbooks logic had a course for younger years if that's even possible. When did you switch from TGTB science to BJU science...8th grade(ish)? I can't wait til we get to the book studies from TGTB....they look great. I hope they are still there when we get to that age...which is very soon. No this video was not boring at all. My oldest is going into 6th and I've struggled with finding a good math program that works for us. We did Singapore at first because it was so highly regarded but I'm not a math person and I just can't... We tried TT because it seemed like it would work better but now I'm worried about the gaps, too. Do you find TGATB math good for grades 4-6? I'm looking for something that would put us in a good position for prealg. next year and I'm not sure sticking with TT is the answer.

She hated it but we got through it! Definitely going to change it up but I am undecided with whether I should go with Shormann or Mr. D Math. I’ve heard great things about both. Did you happen to check out Mr. D and have any thoughts on it?

  • @EducationalRoots

    So, I’m totally confused by your review of POM. Did your son read the actual textbook? It is not intended to be parent led AT ALL. The text is written TO the student. You also mentioned it didn’t tell how to do anything. That is what the textbook does. I’m kinda guessing that he didn’t use that aspect and just used the worksheets, in which case, I can see why your review is what it is. If I’m wrong, and he did use that, then I don’t know what to say because I’m totally confused lol

    • @GraceandGrit
      @GraceandGrit  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes he did. And it was not very clear at all. He did not translate well from textbook to worksheet, and he’s very gifted in math. It had to be parent lead because I had to re explain and demonstrate what the text book said.

      They learn geography with The Good and the Beautiful. Geography is included in every Language Arts level. My son is using level 5 currently, and he is learning every single country on every single continent. 👌
