Thank you for doing these! I'm really good at finding picture books for my littler two kids, but for my older two (8 & 7), they are getting to the point where they need books with a little more meat to them. These videos always give me good ideas of what's out there

This is my fav video you do yearly. Man those TGATB books take some slack. My kid seems to enjoy the titles we’ve done so far but I pick for interest not required and I wonder if that has more to do with it. ❤

Wow. I'm soo blown away. Some of these books even grownups can't read them 🤣. I have wanted to read screwtapes by c.s Lewis, still on my TBR. I'm challenged. Your kids especially your teenagers are reading some really mature books
We read Echo Mtn as a read aloud and it's slightly graphic with the medical stuff. So it was tough to get through. Maybe that's why with the 2 stars. Love the YWAM biography books.
How or what do you use to screen all of these books for anything inappropriate? And where do you store them?! Our bookshelves are already busting at the seams! 🤣
I can’t screen them all but my kids have great discernment and I generally only purchase recommended from others I trust. Every kid has a book shelf in their rooms and we have our two shelves in our homeschool room. Double lined
I love the good and the beautiful and don’t mean this negative at all! Just a question, my children don’t rate the books with their LA very highly either. Do you have thoughts on this? Do you think any assigned reading where they have to write about, answer questions about, etc makes it feel more negative to them? Or is it the pace of their writing in their books? Again, I ask genuinely, it makes me sad when they don’t love the books 🤦♀️ Just started the video so maybe you address this. I know you don’t ask them a lot of questions about it, just get the rating…but I’m curious if there was any further discussion that came up naturally. Or if they express negativity or “dread reading” about the books while reading, how you handle those discussions.
I don’t worry too much about it. The books don’t appeal to their interests as much, and they are generally slower reads. Not to say they hate them, just they aren’t a favorite. I think it’s good to challenge them to read outside their first choices.
How do you do assigned readers? Do they have to read a certain amount of chapters a day? Read for a certain amount of minutes? Or you tell them they need to read a certain amount of chapters a week? My kids read a lot, but boy do I wish I could get them to read this many. 😂

I loved The Princess as a teenager! I read that book, all the Robin Jones Gunn books and Janette Oke books constantly.
Robin Jones Gunn is THE best! I started reading her books at 13 and still read them at 44 with my 17 year old daughter. We love them all ❤

Just a 6 cube bookshelf. Nothing fancy!
My son liked The Clock Makers Son the best of all the books that came with TGATB level 5!
