I am a class2 HIAB driver and I transport machines (dumpers, excavators, rollers, Hydremas, etc..) all over the shop!!!! I use TruckNav (£98) and Hieha 7 seems to be a beefed clone of my satnav, it has the same UI. Mine has failed me a few times but this is more about the dealer giving me old maps than the actual operation of my satnav. I miss the functionality of WAZE so I use it side by side. Also, it does have route alternatives option selection and it has the improved road names, you just have to search inside the menu and select TTF Pro UK voice (male or female) I believe the slight delay in your Garmin is due to the CPU load, if you are using other apps in your Garmin you have to expect micro delays in response times.

Hi Kev a great video on sat nav for drivers keep up with the great work that you do and keep them great videos coming drive carefully and stay safe my friend
That's a pretty fair review of that Sat nav Kev. I might buy one as I don't want to spend £350 on a Garmin lol. Be interesting to see how it performs after a longer spell of trucking.
You'd be better off buying an Xgody 826 for about £42, been using one for the last 2 weeks and not had any GPS drop outs like I had with the Hieha. iGo map updates are available for free via the facebook group for Nozatec Sat navs and the mapping is Here maps which is the same mapping that Garmin use.
Hi. Good review. I am just getting into HGV Driving following a 22 year career in the forces. I am looking for a decent truck sat nav but don't want to spend a fortune. I've been using a budget android touch screen car stereo for a few years now and I've had the IGo software installed on that and it has served me well. But I like the idea of an easier option of rerouting to avoid traffic. Decisions decisions.
@@Smudger96 go for truck nav you can get one from ebay for about 80 pounds. Its more expensive than this one however its very popular among the drivers being a reasonably priced sat nav for hgv. Kev, hope you see this comment. I know the video is quite old but I need to ask.... How is the routing and traffic on your Garmin? I bought a Garmin Dezl 780 LMT-D a few months ago and the traffic is ridiculously bad. It gives me delays that don't exist and when I am stuck in a big jam it displays "No reported traffic ahead" Also, the routing is pretty bad... I have had to ignore it many times and just go the way I know because it wants to take me a long way round. Let me know, it can't just be me.
I used that Hieha for a week or so. Nothing wrong with iGo Primo software but, the devices GPS reception is poor and once it lost the GPS it would not work again until it was switched off and restarted. The other thing I found was it would go to screen saver once your on the move (which I finally fixed by deleting the screen saver in the UX folder).
+Alan Anderson great feedback cheers Alan, I've not noticed the loss of signal yet, I noticed the annoying screensaver issue and I'll do the same with that, I'm expecting issue's for the cost and im looking forward to doing the long term review.
have a look at what mapping it has installed and how old it is. Mine arrived with the march 2017 Tomtom mapping files (but at least it had the important .ftr files you need for truck restrictions) I have the Here maps 2017 Q3 files if you want to update it.
Bit Late to the Party but i've had 2 Garmin LGV 700 Sat Navs both of which have gone Tits Up, tried New Batteries and Shop Fixing but Eventually just Threw the Last One Away, will never Buy Garmin again.
Exactly what I wanted to know! Even driving on my local roads, so I could see exactly how the device related to reality, awesome :-) Unfortunately, Amazon no longer has them in stock, and a Google search brings up nothing elsewhere :-(
+Uhuru Mkali it did but was slightly later than the budget and I had the audio off so couldn't hear that either. It had also be trying to divert me away from the bridge for 20 minutes 👍
Have had a look same Operating system looks good can I still get android apps online as I’ve got an IPhone 📲 Kev don’t really know about Android stuff 👍🏻
Here is one for you to look at maybe put on your android based sat nav on the google play store there is an app called "NavMeTo" (Unreleased) I have played with it a little while driving a van and seems to work ok the voice is a little crap but the navigation seems rather good if you dont mind having a look and seeing what you think that would be great :D
Its a trail then paid for. I used it to get to a place with a caravan as im looking to replace my car based Garmin. Whilst the navmeto routed better to the destination over the car garmin, it severly let the side down at the last stretch as it twice wanted to go down roads that said not suitable for long vehicles and it took me up a country lane to the destination which was on a T junction to a wide A road as it tried to save on distance. I had even set the 'truck' with artic spec just to give me (van+ twin axle) sufficient space. It's now uninstalled.
My deal 770 was RUBISH it kept losing connection with satellite and taking ages to reconnect, I will not buy any garmin products again as they where not interested in helping
Get one there brill. I have had mine 3 years and needs updating, I think you can buy an sd card of the bloke I got it. I have been using it in Spain and France . I have also got a Tom Tom wich is nowhere near as good.
Yeah exactly, send it back, say it keeps losing it's GPS lock for some reason. Don't want you to be out of pocket because of us lot. We wanna make you money, not cost you it. lol
garmin are thieves, their motorcycle gps is like 700 bucks as its got 20 cents worth of water proffing--- i gave garmin the flick years ago, they should be charged with theft, the cheapys work just as well and i use a car one now on my bike without issue and if it starts to rain i put in tank bag

I have heard the latest gen do have problems, such a shame as the 770 was bullet proof and in still using it 7 years later.
Exactly what I wanted to know! Even driving on my local roads, so I could see exactly how the device related to reality, awesome :-)
Unfortunately, Amazon no longer has them in stock, and a Google search brings up nothing elsewhere :-(
Just get the Navpal its exactly the same UI and software.
So the Garmin didn't warn you about the low bridge?!
+Uhuru Mkali it did but was slightly later than the budget and I had the audio off so couldn't hear that either. It had also be trying to divert me away from the bridge for 20 minutes 👍
Sold
LOL to late mate already bought the dezi 770 based on your review and the price.
Graham Hardy nothing wrong with the Garmin mate, it's a fantastic sat nav and can't be beaten but if your on a budget the Hieha is a great choice 👌
Your Garmin, can you connect it to two phones for taking calls? Great review by the way. The cheapo having tv. & all
+Andyb2379 I don't think you can mate, I connect one to the Garmin and the works phone to the trucks Bluetooth when it works 😂
Would you say the Hieha is a great starter Truck Sat Nav Kev tee 👍🏻
Yes but is no longer available, I hear the Xgoody truck satnav on Amazon is a great and affordable 👍
I should say the app is free as well (or at least the basic part is)
+William Evans I'll definitely look into it mate 👍
+William Evans nice, if it's any good I'll do a review 👍
Sweet That would be great to get another point of view on it :D
Its a trail then paid for. I used it to get to a place with a caravan as im looking to replace my car based Garmin. Whilst the navmeto routed better to the destination over the car garmin, it severly let the side down at the last stretch as it twice wanted to go down roads that said not suitable for long vehicles and it took me up a country lane to the destination which was on a T junction to a wide A road as it tried to save on distance. I had even set the 'truck' with artic spec just to give me (van+ twin axle) sufficient space. It's now uninstalled.
My deal 770 was RUBISH it kept losing connection with satellite and taking ages to reconnect, I will not buy any garmin products again as they where not interested in helping
i think they stop them from sale
Thats a shame, ill do another video if i can find an alternative 👍
thanks
👍👍👍
now you've got 2 you can give me one ???? think about it
+Kev Steele I've though about it 😂😂
KevTee if you don't ask you don't get lol
+Kev Steele completely agree mate, If they were given to me to review and I didn't have to buy them myself it might be different lol

Mate the expensive ones aren't even that good. Sniper truck nav are decent
Haha I just did my first trip to France and Spain with the cheap one
Hi! Do you still use the Hieha 7 inch sat nav? If so, what’s your opinion now?
Get one there brill. I have had mine 3 years and needs updating, I think you can buy an sd card of the bloke I got it. I have been using it in Spain and France . I have also got a Tom Tom wich is nowhere near as good.
Beat Sat Nav I use is wind down window and ask human
Dezi 770 is better that the Tom Tom turdnav 😂.
+Graham Hardy I've not tried the new Tom Tom but the Garmin is definitely better than the similar age Tom Tom.
send satnav back and say its faulty and get your money back matey
+gary63693 I bought the sat nav purely for review purposes mate, I won't be using it once I'm done reviewing it 👍
Yeah exactly, send it back, say it keeps losing it's GPS lock for some reason.
I buy the same time one Tom- Tom and one Awesafe...TomTom is 🗑 🚮 garbage overpriced.
HAVE trucknav £90 from chriss simiular to hieha. HAVE use bit common sense with it but keeps u away from bridges
