Mine arrived today by way of Canada Post - ordered directly from Ohrex (UK). I haven't yet been able to run the unit, but my impressions so far are very good. I do find the instuction manual not easy to read, and I've been using a magnifying glass to see some of the icons in the text - I'll be looking into downloading the manual to my computer. The packaging was very well done. When I ordered the device I did ask for North American maps - I have yet to see if that's what I got, but since the manual was bilingual English & French I'm expecting to have no problems there. We'll be able to give it a good workout next weekend when we take our camping trailer (caravan) and pickup truck for our next camping trip.

Initial very favourable impressions, then a major issue. AS oredered, it did indeed conatain N. American maps. I generally liked what I was seeing after installing the N76 in my pickup and doing various running around trips and errands. I tested the navigation by having it take me home from some errands. I especially liked the way it anounced the next move, as compared to the Garmin units I have been using. Instead of "In 1kilometer turn left on Some Street West", I got "Prepare to turn left in 1Km at Some Street West". The difference is important if, like my wife, it takes the first several words to attract attention. I generally like the display, and the responsiveness to touch commands. I also like that the display showed a symbol not only for the next turn, but often for the one after that.
The big test came Thursday morning when setting off for our camping trip. When I tried to enter the address of the Conservation Area we had booked into back in April, it had no difficulty findind Rockwood, Ontario, but when I tried to enter the street address, or post code, it reported that it had no street-level mapping for that community. OUCH!. I ended up retreiving an elderly Garmin unit from our car, which had no problem finding the exact address - road and street number (although rather slowly due to the search method). I also foudnd that it could not find the nearest (or any) branch of some major retail chains.
The odd thing about this situation is that although it could not find the road leading into the Conservation Area where I was expecting to camp, it did show the roadways around the Conservation Area, but with no connection to the public roads, My old Garmin also showed the internal roadways, but also had the connection to the public road system.
Given this result - not having the road-level detail for one small community - I'm wondering how much I can rely on the device for other important trips.

Thank you for this excellent review showing all the interesting details. This is exactly what I was looking for, for my Jag and my old VW daily driver. The value for money of this device is incredible good. I'll go for the live traffic option though it unfortunately doesn't cover Austria and Switzerland which I use to travel to or through. But 29.99€ extra is not really much money nowadays.

The SavNav issue is almost as important/emotional to us X100 owners as battery issues. Mine has a built-in unit, but as you know it becomes more useless as the years pass. So thanks for this reminder that there are credible and cost-effective options out there to consider.
You gave us your usual considered, balanced view. I'd be happy to see more of this from you 😊

Thank you for this very thorough review, I have a TomTom that has the smart traffic feature that should prevent getting stuck in traffic, and it has on at least 3 occasions led me onto the M25 where I have joined the tail end of a very long delay and I was still on the entry slip, then to add insult to injury after 30 minutes going nowhere it offers an alternative route which is of no use what-so-ever when stuck in a 4 lane car park, on the subject of the FM transmitter I have bought 2 such devices in the past to link a phone to car audio and neither were at all clear. I have an older Merc with out of date and non updatable Sat Nav which often finds me on new roads where the Sat Nav thinks I am Off Road. I am going to use your code and
    try this out, Thanks again.

Got one of these, mean bit of kit. Well impressed. Have not had to use very much yet, but will be soon, with caravan on rear of Hyundai Santa Fe.
It makes a 43ft long outfit when connected so will be playing your excellent vid and practicing the setup you explained. Many thanks.
    Regards
    Ben Jones

Thanks for a very good balanced review John.
Can you say what maps are included with the device. I'm thinking Europe specifically 👍

Thanks George. Mine has all uk Ireland and mainland Europe pre installed. You can download America Australia etc if you like in a PC and then add them. You also get free lifetime map updates. Though you would have to again hook it up to your PC let’s say once per year, to get them.

Jaguar XKR X100 2004 . Sat Nav Upgrade.
I have recently upgraded my old sat nav as this was never updated since 2004.
I found that after removing the nav screen and buttons from the centre dash that a TomTom Go (about €90) fits behind the screen aperture in the panel, wiring it to the ignition side with the TomTom previously switched on will switch on the TomTom when you start the car. Updates can be done either wireless or quicker to just remove the complete centre panel and plug the USB to your laptop. The holes left where the switches were are back filled with thin black foam. (or speaker cloth). It works well.

Duh we have it on our Iphone or am I missing something ? You don't need a big display you should be listen to the instructions NOT looking at the screen

True you have a sat nav. But it cant transmit the sound to your radio. And it can't be programmed to correctly route a large vehicle.

I was just trying to order it when I found out that the N76 no longer seems to have the Bluetooth option. The *T76* which costs 5€ more has it. It also offers an "AV IN port: support installing rear view camera" which is not mentioned on the N76 product page. I wonder if they have sent you the T76 model or made a product split later.
