I live in Texas and it's funny people think I have a Texas accent but real texans know it's a south Carolina/ southern accent which is odd people could tell the difference

Gorgeous accents!. That kid is a DELIGHT, what a charmer!. As SC used to be a British colony, and I'm British, I tuned in immediately when they said "Grand-daddy longlegs". Over here "Daddy long-legs" is the slang name we give to a Crane fly. I presume the SCers mean the SAME creature but have, for some reason, made it a Grand-daddy?. Would the same name be used all over the US or is it confined to the south?. Language is SUCH a fascinating subject!.

Steve radford-No, what they are calling a granddaddy longlegs isn't a crane fly. What we have looks more like a spider. No wings. Just an oval body with long spindly legs. I don't know what the scientific name is unfortunately. We call it the same thing here in North Carolina (well, most people I know anyway).

South Carolina is my favorite state of all. I am an Oklahoman and life here is very good.I say "thee-ATER". I ike the way you say oil as "ohl".Your Governor McMaster says "Mistah Speakah" (mister speaker).He has a great South Carolina accent.

I think I may have more of a SC accent instead of the NC accent I’m supposed to have. My mom was from McColl. My dad was from Charlotte. Maybe mom’s speakin’ rubbed off on me a lot lol!!
