- According to the Center for Sexual Health Promotion at Indiana University, up to 30 percent of women aged 18 to 59 experience some type of pain during sex in their lifetimes, compared with just 5 percent of men. Post-menopausal women are more likely to suffer from it than young women, but it can happen at any age for a variety of reasons. CBS News chief medical correspondent Dr. Jon LaPook discusses the issue with Dr. Lori Warren, an Ob-Gyn and gynecologic surgeon.
I’m going through this right now and it’s seriously the most depressing frustrating thing ever to constantly have to feel pain when all you wanna do is feel pressure!

@cosmic beauty I have been at that point too. It really can be very frustrating. I had regular pain for now almost 3 years with penetrative sex. It has gotten better though ever since I started seeing a therapist specialized in the field of sexuality and relationships. She has helped me to view my body and sex itself differently. She said to me: You’re body is not broken. In fact it is trying to tell you something / show to you that something is wrong, it is trying to protect you. Ever since I started listening to what my body was telling me and thinking about the reasons behind the pain (sexual trauma, relationship dynamics etc.) I’ve been able to enjoy sex much more and now I am able to enjoy pain free sex again (not always but still, it’s a real improvement) I really recommend to read the book “Come as you are” by Emily Nagoski. It clears up so many myths about female sexuality!

Its so frustrating...
I was looking forward to it and each time it happened I lost more and more hope that it's going to get better and just accepted that it's just going to be this way. Every time I would bare through the pain and tried to think about what's good. There would be good parts but it's so hard to ignore the pain sometimes.
I feel so tired of holding my breath until the pain goes away. I don't wanna stress him out either... He so careful with me but it's still just.... so tiring... And thinking about how he will have to sit through this every single time... I just feel.. dysfunctional.
It feels like a chore now. And I feel guilty because I was the one who was enthusiastic at first but now I just don't want anything to do with it. I feel guilty and nauseous and in pain.

I'm 43 years old and I met an older woman she is 58. When we first made love it was painful for her so we other things instead. I'm praying that it's nothing to serious and that she can think about going to see her GP it's frustrating for a man because when your in the groove and excited it's frustrating when it comes to an end. but I have to think about her and her feelings instead of mine I'm praying that we can resolve this issue. 🙏

It's actually a real struggle. And something I'm going through right now. It's mentally effecting my relationship with my partner for me, because I want to be intimate but it's not easy for me. It's painful and not pleasuring at all. I'm honestly bout to go talk to my own gynaecologist because I wanna fix my issue.

My long time partner is very well endowed. The only time it doesn't hurt is during menstruation. It's so frustrating that they have so many cures for men's conditions but not for women!

I’m 23 waited until marriage and my husband is too very endowed. The shame of feeling pain when it’s so “enjoyable” for others and fear of how it makes him feel doesn’t seem like a good foot to start off on 😰
Men don't have much conditions regarding sex or their pee pee. So your point is invalid about men's conditions.

I had issues after my daughter was born, have to have surgery to remove hardened scar tissue in my vagina due to a bad tear during birth. The surgery helped some but by that time I was so tense my muscles were just tense all the time which caused more pain. I ended up having to see a pelvic therapist who essentially massaged the muscles until they finally relaxed. It took a year after my daughter's birth to finally have sex pain free. I still have some nerve damage in one spot which can cause pain but being well-prepared solves that problem.

I had the same issue and went to a pelvic floor therapist who helped me too. I use the wand at home to try keeping things moving along. It’s helps

Im 48 going 49 and still experience this, sometimes it make you do not want to have sex at all.
Nothing started while I was pregnant, but it wasn’t that bad at that time, however after waiting the post pregnancy time, sex was so painful and it has been painful ever cents, All the doctors I have spoke with said use the right lubricant use lots of lubricant, I have tried different lubricant and nothing helps, it can be with my partner are myself

I don’t constantly have pain during sex but alot of times I do. It's frustrating. At the beginning I'm always really tight or after I finish I suddenly get really tight and I get off to quick and its hard to get my boyfriend off.

You are not alone. Plus, I have never gotten pleasure from it at all. I've even asked a few times "Are you finished yet?" because I could not take anymore and wanted to turn him off by saying that, so that he would stop. I have never gotten the hype about sex because, for me, it represents pain and like being a chore. This is part of the reason that I don't care for relationships and have not had sex in 12 years. I will never be able to please anyone and would end up getting cheated on.

I have a question. Why do people still have sex? I think sex is very gross, nasty, messy, and disgusting! I don't see how sex is a good thing. I don't see why humans haven't remove sex from this world yet. Women can still get pregnant without sex.
