Sorry, but motion sensor != occupancy sensor. I got pretty excited when you said it was an occupancy sensor, but was quickly disappointed when it was just a PIR motion sensor. Nowadays, mmWave sensors are much better for occupancy sensing since they can (mostly) still detect you when you are sitting still.
So it’s a motion sensor (PIR) not a presence sensor. The « ball » in the middle is actually a PIR sensor, a presence sensor would be invisible as hidden hidden plastic, as EP1. It’s either a bug or trying to fool customer
With all due respect, I generally like ThirdReality products but I don't get why this one is any big deal. Our ancient Echo (the first round ball model) has a built-in occupancy sensor that works perfectly to turn on lights, etc. whenever someone enters the room.
google speaker, most up to date version. other matter devices work with google ecosystem for me, but they often take multiple tries to get it connected (if they do connect, this one did not after multiple tries)
I have an issue with this product where when I go ahead and quickly turn off and on the light switch that it is connected to, I have this in our bathroom connected to a light fixture with a smart bulb in it that also has a light socket on the side of it And quickly turn off and on the light switch when I need to reboot the lightbulb, the device just goes no response in the Home app and Alexa app. How do I fix this?
@@AdamsTechLife that's unfortunately what I have to do every time it happens, but as soon as it happens again, it goes no response and I have to reset it.
I wish devices like this would add a pass through opal so you don't waste a wall socket. With all these IOT's needing power it's getting more and more difficult to find a place to put them without consuming a plug.
After switching my home to matter I can safely say matter will mot last. Everything stopped working right after I started enabling matter , I had to factory reset and redo my entire hue setup. People toss the word matter around like it’s better but it’s really not. It’s slower, has less features and every single smart home forum is full of people complaining about it.
I’ve switched my Eve products to Matter with no issues, but, why changing Hue products as they already work on all ecosystems nicely, with more feature (thanks to the bug), and has even LOCAL API !
i would heavily agree. there are some matter devices that work well but the majority of matter devices are quite unreliable and are a royal pain. i have a video on this topic coming soon 👀
Is there a good occupancy sensor that would work well in a bathroom? My kids are always leaving light on, so I would like to make sure someone is in there. I would require that it can somehow know when they’re in the shower though, and they have a curtain not like a glass door. You know maybe that’s too creepy
I use an aqara motion sensor for keeping a light on in a bathroom if you’re in the room and turns off if no motion after 5 minutes. I’m using an Alexa dot for this and talked about this idea in my recent smart home tour video. There are many ways to keep the light on without motion like using other sensors as triggers.
Matter is a train wreck don’t buy this plug in matter. They also make it in a zigbee version buy the zigbee one . I have the one in zigbee and had zero issues.

Much easier than me screaming at my housemate; TURN THE @$£ light off!!
I don't think I would use it. If it can't detect occupancy, why call it an occupancy sensor?

this is exactly true. no sensor is perfect but mmwave technology is far more accurate with occupancy than a motion sensor

yeah, not true "occupancy" like the aqara fp2 sensor. kind of misleading if you ask me...
Do you have a link to where you found the weatherproof covers for the Aqara sensor?
check the description of the video :)
Ah cheers 👍🏼
I bought one and have been using it as a motion sensor. I am quite happy with it.
that's great!!!
Magic! Great video!!

true, but this is a first for the apple home ecosystem. Thanks for watching! 😊
Do you have a nest hub or any google speaker? Maybe thats the reason why its not connecting to the google home app.

maybe try resetting the night light?

that would be cool. Thanks for watching! 😊
Is EOL I can’t find the product anywhere 😢
sounds like it's based on your location...it's available in the us and certain locations globally
Too expensive for 30 bucks for just a PIR and light.
it is pricey, but could be cheaper than a separate smart light and motion sensor combined

Matter will last, but is a baby now, compared to ZigBee which was born on the 90s !
Let give it some time before a full switch 😌

It’s only 29 bucks, you’re not gonna get the world with it but there are functions you can use it for the bathroom the patio front door area
yeah it's got some pretty cool use cases. Thanks for watching! 😊
Awesome videos sorry I’m sooo late

Maybe Apple iPhone block Google home Matter smart devices 🤣
🤣

I haven’t tried the zigbee one but the matter one works great!
