He was great! In contrast to “Do a muscle up?” Jonas? Come ON, dude. It’s clear that he doesn’t have a clue what pregnancy does to your previous body. And Mykayla looks FANTASTIC.
@JeanneNorthcutt He was kinda intolerant/inpatient during the first workout, too. Bob showed the right amount of body respect, intelligent understanding of what a body can/should be able to do after surgery and recovery, and emotional support. Maxing out or shaming someone into doing more has never made someone better.
After having my son going back to my first dance class I could barely get throu the class and was sore for days. I quickly after a few months got back into my groove. I was so upset with my lack of ability but I'm so proud of where I am now. Gymnastics will always be in you and a part of you, don't be too hard on yourself 💪❤
I know that feeling! When I returned to leading group exercise instruction after 3 years off from doing anything I was so discouraged and my first thought was to say "forget it!" But several months later, I was back on track and on my way to being in even better shape and condition than I was before getting pregnant! Knowing your passion, professionalism, and competitiveness you'll be back at it in no time! PRESS ON, SISTAH!!!! Do it for Lottie! Let her see what her momma is all about!
You've got nothing to prove anymore so I'm all in support for return(hopefully)! Take your time and do things you've never done! (Increasing flexibility, learning new dance elements, new bars skill etc)
You gotta reframe your mind set... you aren't "not strong" you've lost strength in your arms because your strong a** body made a baby!!!❤😍 our bodies are amazing and yours will be as strong as you ask of it. Just be patient and graceful with yourself!
Oksana, Aliya, & Chelsea has shown the way lol. U one of my favs! U can do it ( in my Bela voice😂).it would be a blessing to the sport if u made a come back Mykayla!❤
YOU ARE AMAZING!!! YOU GO GIRL! Can’t believe you tried a back handspring only 3 mo postpartum. You can do this, slowly, carefully, and include Charolette in morning workouts. Lifting baby, yoga 🧘🏻♀️ poses, brisk walking with stroller… you’ve got this! Gymnastics 🤸🏼♀️ Olympics Future Gymnast Charlotte 👶🏼🫶🏼💖
You really should be so proud of yourself! Nothing happens in one day let alone one hour. It was really great your husband suggested this. You will thank him later for this. As long as you love gymnastics keep going! Your daughter will be so proud of you. It’s important for everyone to stay healthy and in shape. Never say can’t cause you got this. You’re an Olympic Champion never forget that!
It’s such a sobering moment when you realize even your easiest, most basic skills aren’t easy anymore. I was in disbelief when I realized I couldn’t even kick over from a back bend anymore and handstands hurt my arms after about 3 seconds 😅
I’m no judge, but that back handspring was 🔥 considering how long it’s been! Upper body strength will come from lugging Lottie around…. She won’t get any lighter! 😊
I did gymnastics when I was young and I have always been kind of obsessed since. Just got my 7 year old a bar for xmas and he has been flipping like crazy on it. Its bringing me so much joy:)
I bet Shawn Johnson East could really give good advice on getting back into the gym and workouts! I know yall are friends!!! Good job trying! Don't rush or feel pressure to jump back in of you don't feel ready!!! Go at your own pace !!!
Don’t underestimate yourself. Slow and steady wins the race. She is getting to the point where you can exercise with her as counter weight. Hold her over top of you while laying on the floor. You can also put her on your lower legs knees bent up and move legs up and down will start strengthening up your abs and legs again. You will get there. BTW you look fantastic ❣️❣️❣️
You should def try reformer pilates, I know that has really enhanced my core and you can modify movements to your level. Start out really slow with beginner-centric movement and slowly advance! :D
Awww you did great with the gymnastics 🤸🏾♀️ you accomplished but I’m so proud of you doing your very first back handspring of you being 3 months postpartum
Thank you, Jonas, for always encouraging the gymnastics content! Mykayla - you did amazing! There's no question to me that if you wanted to make a comeback, you could. But if you don't, I hope you still keep doing gymnastics recreationally, because your talent is undeniable
Don't worry too much about how hard it's going to be. The good news is that your body will bounce back pretty quickly once you get back into a routine and consistent training, and that's because of all the previous work you've put into yourself. Your muscles will adapt faster than if you were a beginner and you'll be back to where you want to be in no time ♡ just take it slow and stay safe, focus on your form and building your strength back up. The rest will follow!
You did a great job! And you looked great. I would suggest working on that arm strength because that baby isn't going to get any lighter. My sister used to use her son as part of her weight training. Seriously, your back handspring was great. Bob was the perfect cheerleader/spotter/motivator. I'm glad he was cautious as well. I'm pretty sure he hasn't had to deal with too many post baby gymnasts. Stretching is good for you though. You will feel better and less stressed if you get back to doing it. And he's right about easing back into fitness instead of waiting for the prefect time. There's never a perfect time when you have a baby. You aren't weak. You created that beautiful baby and your body is recovering. And you LOOK amazing.
And gosh Charlotte looks like you when ypu were younger!!! 🥰. And awesome.eeing you do some gymnastics again. It'll be really cool to watch you get your fitness back, I think it'll come back quicker than you think. Muscle memory and all that ❤️
Such a precious little girl!! - I was lucky, I had my son at 24. No C-section. So I was back to tumbling at about 8 weeks post-partum. He’s 29 now and I’m still doing adult Gymnastics. Yes-I’m almost 54! You got this.
I REALLY want to see / hear you talk about what it's like if you play your floor music from Tokyo 😃. Is it happy or horrifying? I listen to your floor music (I bought it off itunes) every week when I'm at the gym cos I loved it and your floor routine so much, AND it inspires me cos i followed your hard long road to Tokyo 💜
Hope you make a return!! We need a vault/floor specialist other than Simone for 2024. Your artistry got a lot better in 2021-make a comeback? Aliya, Chellsie, and Oksana did it. You can do it! Proud of you mama! Logistically-and based on your experience. I would LOVE to see you back out there!! Sending love. ❤
Girl going by that bridge i think you should start stretching your baby now if she ever stands a chance at being flexible 😂 no but jokes aside hats of for you trying this and posting it ❤ youve done probably the 2 hardest things there is on earth, training gymnastics for the olympics and givejng birth to a baby! So proud of you ❤❤❤❤
A bridge after a C-section?? That was an incredible bridge. Her abs haven't even completely grown back together yet. They were literally separated in half to have a baby.
mykayla please advocate for yourself, only you know your body and shouldn't push it just because jonas wants you to that's a little odd. please take it easy
I thought Mormons can’t have tattoos. I had a Mormon friend say that they can’t have tattoos because their bodies are temples. FYI you totally rock that you can do any of that right after a baby and look amazing.
Mykayla’s an Olympic silver medalist and multi-world champion. It’s clear she still enjoys the sport and she knows what her body can/can’t do just yet. Her coaches were welcoming and supportive. Doesn’t look like much bullying to me
Good job!! I mean, all you did was create a human and push it out of your body, get back on the vault! hahaha OMG don't be so hard on yourself! Nice and slow wins the race!
I know a paraplegic (went to Iraq with her aunt). She's been having trouble with PT & watches your channel after I told her you were a cute 43 year old (training for your last Olympics). How do you feel about a challenge? (You and her come up with an identical challenge for me & you). If you win, you and her can name the penalty, if I win & my brain wakes up, I'll think of something.
Dumb question… but what really is the point of practicing anymore. Obviously not making Paris lol why not focus on getting in shape versus actual gymnastics
This is rediculous. I am 42 and only go into a gym once every few years but I can go straight up to high beam and master cartwheels and handstands and tumble just fine on a tumble trek. My joints are too old for hard floor tumbling now, but even in my thirties after four kids I could tumble a level 6 pass on floor when I randomly walked into a gym after years out of a gym. Why can Olympic gymnast not do the same.
Bob's concern but ability to still push was heartwarming to watch.
He was great! In contrast to “Do a muscle up?” Jonas? Come ON, dude. It’s clear that he doesn’t have a clue what pregnancy does to your previous body. And Mykayla looks FANTASTIC.

It’s so refreshing to see how supportive Bob is! Love your coaches
Thanks for that video! It helps to see an authentic video that shows that even top athletes struggle after givin birth/ a break.
We love Bob! Great job Myk. Absolutely be safe. You will get there!
I wasn't an elite recently, just a coach, but I did get my press handstand back at 5 months postpartum! I was pretty proud of that.
Coming back to gymnastics after abdominal surgery is SCARY! I've done it before- you should be so proud of yourself! Keep pushing you've got this!
She didn’t have surgery, she gave birth vaginally. But your stomach muscles stretch and separate during pregnancy
@@georgiasmith7615 Same thing- it's hard on your body
@@hermionepink96I’m not saying it’s not difficult for it’s own reasons, but it’s not the same thing

It takes a lot of ab strength to actually do a pull-up. You should be proud that you were able to do 1 after a baby and ab surgery!

I think Mormons aren't supposed to consume caffeine as well, but Mykayla has been sponsored by an energy drink before. So I think they pick and choose
American Zionism gets confused with Mormonism and Christianity. They contradict everything and really don’t ever get held accountable for it.
Their beliefs and standards probably depend on what church they go to. And with any religion, some people are more strict with it than others
