This is so funny, I was stationed in Okinawa in 1976. During the election for Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter. Saturday Night Live did a skit with, I can’t remember who portrayed Ford (I think it was Chevy Chase ) and Carter (I think Dan Ackroyd). acting as though they were debating. They started to play the national anthem, immediately. Jimmy Carter hits a button and says I can name that tune in five notes. Ford said he could name it in four notes. Unfortunately, for us overseas, they took Saturday Night Live off of AFRTS (armed forces radio television station) after that. Apparently, it was considered unAmerican to mock the political leaders. We were really disappointed about that.
