For everyone saying rods voice doesn't sound that good bear in mind he had throat cancer a year before this song came out and probably only just recovered from it by the time he recorded it. And btw when he lost his voice he basically had to learn how to sing again so that's why his vocals sound weak because his vocal chords were still healing and developing
Stewart never wanted to release this cover and this song was only on Japan and US editions of the 2000 album Human, which was Stewart's only album of boyband material with some rock riffs thrown in. Slash also played on the title track Human itself. Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits also played on one of the songs from that album - If I Had You
Rod's voice sounds surprisingly.. well, soft. Which is odd for such a rock song. Slash makes it worth it. It lacks the implicit humor of the original, though. The last track in my "Prince: cover" playlist. Thanks for the upload!
Please, no f'ing way. Prince had a velvety, sexual coolness that was his own. Rod is one of the best, but they are both so different. NO ONE CAN TOP PRINCE WITH PRINCE.
Wasn't as Awful as I thought it would be but his voice just sounds f**ked. It's the guitar on it that almost makes it bearable though he shouldn't really have bothered.
