A track I made inspired by the rivalry of the two great powers of the ancient Mediterranean, Rome and Carthage, and their bloody wars that followed.
All artwork and images are owned by their respective artist and owners.
The Punic Wars were a series of three wars fought between Rome and Carthage from 264 BC to 146 BC.[1] At the time, they were some of the largest wars that had ever taken place
The main cause of the Punic Wars was the conflicts of interest between the existing Carthaginian Empire and the expanding Roman Republic. The Romans were initially interested in expansion via Sicily (which at that time was a cultural melting pot), part of which lay under Carthaginian control.
At the start of the First Punic War (264-241 BC), Carthage was the dominant power of the Western Mediterranean, with an extensive maritime empire. Rome was a rapidly ascending power in Italy, but it lacked the naval power of Carthage.
The Second Punic War (218-201 BC) witnessed Hannibal's crossing of the Alps in 218 BC, followed by a prolonged but ultimately failed campaign of Carthage's Hannibal in mainland Italy.
By the end of the Third Punic War (149-146 BC), after more than a hundred years and the loss of many hundreds of thousands of soldiers from both sides, Rome had conquered Carthage's empire, completely destroyed the city, and became the most powerful state of the Western Mediterranean.

@@hamzahammami22 Scipio’s strategy was to overwhelm Hannibal’s Calvary, which caused Hannibal’s army to rout. Also, it is one of the many responsibilities of the general to keep moral high in their army, so Hannibal is responsible for that. If Scipio used that to his advantage, then Scipio was the greater general with the overwhelming defeat of Hannibal.
Much respect for both generals though.

@@joshvaldes68 trust me after fighting for nearly two decades without any notable result, pretty sure nothing can boost their moral, and to be honest, i don't trust polibius that much, after all he was a friend of the scipio family, he could just say that scipio used the same tactics as hannibal so he doesn't have to come up with tactics, and he also said that some of the elephants of hannibal turned back and rushed into his army, by we know that the riders were armed with spears so in case of something like this happen they can just kill them with it (sorry for my english I'm not a native speaker but i did not use google translate so i kinda feel good about myself, and if you think I'm siding with hannibal then you're right 😂 cuz im from tunisia)
