One thing I love about this show is that none of the characters are black & white. All are in varying shades of grey & you can empathize with both sides to a certain degree. Both Kosem & Murad had good intentions but in this toxic game of power struggles they both went too far & lost their morals. Kosem is a bootleg Hurrem. Hurrems greatest quality was her self awareness & her knowledge of her limitations, she knew her power stemmed from the Sultan & his favor of her & knew to never bite his hand, she knew that without her ability to keep his favor she was just a slave. Kosem bought into her own hype & towards the end she would loudly declare herself Kosem Sultan as if she is rightful ruler of the Sultanate. She should’ve tried to stay on Murads good side & cool his mercurial temper instead of fighting him for her share of power. Murad & Kosem, mother & son could’ve made a powerhouse duo of hard & soft power if only they could join hands.
Sultan Murad IV's life ended tragically at a relatively young age. He died in 1640 at the age of 27, reportedly due to cirrhosis of the liver, likely exacerbated by his heavy drinking habits. Despite his efforts to enforce strict moral codes within the empire, including bans on alcohol and other vices, Murad himself struggled with alcoholism. His death marked the end of a tumultuous but impactful reign, characterized by his efforts to reform and strengthen the Ottoman Empire, as well as his ruthless methods in dealing with perceived threats to his rule. While Murad's reign saw significant military successes and internal reforms, his personal struggles and the methods he employed to maintain power left a complex legacy that continues to be studied and debated by historians.
There's actually no evidence that he drank at all. No classical ottoman source claims this. He died at 27 from a stomachache, exactly like his father, same age, same symptoms, yet nobody claims that his father was a drunkard.
Cirrosis can actually also ocurr due to liver problems, we know Murad to have been a man of high temper, high levels of bilirrubine related to that, could have simply died because he was too angry to live, but guy was an amazing sultan never the less.
@@cinicallyClerical Cirrhosis was unknown to the people of the time, it's a disease that was understood recently and that needs medical tests and a liver biopsy to confirm. There's no way to attribute the death of Murad to cirrhosis. Like I said for all we know he died from a pain in the belly, the exact cause is unknown, might have been cancer or anything else
It is sad that he died because of drinking alcohol I hope that this is not the reason and that his mother put poison on him because he dies of alcohol and he is preventing this from the people, this is sad because he was the caliph of the Muslims
Like sultan Murad Khan iv of Ottoman Empire, his descendant sultan Mahmud Khan ii of Ottoman Empire was also powerful by crushing the janissaries rebellion, and defeated the wahabbis, also he modernised the Ottoman Empire too.But I felt that he was not more popular like sultan Murad Khan iv of Ottoman Empire, why🤔🇹🇷?
In ottoman dynasty first 9 Sultanas and after it Murad 4 and Sultan Abdul Hameed 2 are the best among 34 sultans in 624 years era I rate Murad 4 on top position.
If it was not for slow motion and back ground music , I don't believe you guys could make a movie ? Every scene has a group of people walking for 3 minutes in slow motion as dramatic music plays and this happens every 5 minutes ? I love the costumes and the actors , the background and the story line ! But don't dramatize simply walking ! I know you can make a scene go longer , but just walking in slow motion ! Must be the Curry ?
