Thanks Dave, Great video. I have harvested a lot of obsidian in our area. (Central WA.) But the peanut obsidian is so beautiful! My 8 year old Grandson has Autism and he loves going on road trips with Grandpa to different places to harvest agates, Jaspers, Obsidian and petrified wood etc. Keep posting! We love it!

Just south of Oregon just north of the Cali border I found some stop sign red obsidian. I think Santa Barbara was about 55 miles from that place it's been years mind you but it was a large formation. I'd never in 40 years doing this seen red obsidian.

Never heard of peanut obsidian ether. Of course I have snow flake obsidian and just regular black and mahogany. I thought really is was some odd mahogany piece. It looks like snow flake and mahogany if you mixed them with each other. I still need to get for my collection. Gold sheen and rainbow. But now again thanks to you. I've learned a new one. And I'll have to add that to my wish list for my Collections. 😁 thank you Dave.

    • @lapidarydave

Not too sure but I’d say in my experience between $4-$10 a pound and it’s definitely a 100+ pound boulder bit even though that’s what I think it’s worth one can alway try to negotiate for less like you could try by starting at $350 but it could easily go for over $1000

You are definitely going to want a cabking over a flatlap lapidary machine ultimately you’re going to want both but you’re going to be able to get a lot more done and it will be easier for you to pay off the machine if you get your lapidary wheels before you get your lapidary flat

@@briancunningham3283 Dave nailed it. A multi-wheel cab machine is infinitely more useful than a flat lap. Changing laps for every grit gets old, fast. Cab machines are surprisingly versatile, can polish hand sized pieces, believe it or not, if the shape is right. (But a flat lap gets stuff flat!)
