Watched from Mazatlan. Spot on. Great as always and very accurate. Been here 8 of the last 12 months. Beware the Rainy Season. There are going to be days and even nights where unless you love the heat, you will be uncomfortable. But I've managed it well and just time my walks in the evening or early EARLY morning. Some other days have been just fine. The food is off the charts. Your health will improve and your quality of life is better, IMO. Another word of caution: Watch where you walk. Sidewalks can be a danger in the Centro Historico areas especially, but stay aware and you'll be fine. I love this city. Even better? Come and then venture out into some of the smaller pueblos in the hills away from the traffic! :)
I thought that the historic centro has been completely revamped with nice wide sidewalks. Is this only in the parts of centro with the nice colonial buildings?
Excellent comprehensive video. My fiance, who is from MZT, was able to find us a great rental (monthly) in Centro blocks from the Cathedral on Facebook below market rates. It was a huge fully renovated 2 bedroom condo with a terrace, fully furnished with internet and electricity included for under $700/mo. We spent a great summer there. Sometimes it helps to look in non conventional places. Mazatlan is a beautiful city with some of the friendliest people in Mexico. I might be a little bias ;-)
Hello from Tennessee! I'm not planning on moving but the tours of different cities and areas are my 'vacations' abroad. You do a wonderful job of explaining everything!

great video, as always, Mariana and very informative. I really like the way you go into the details of several aspects. Since you asked, I would love to see similar videos on northern Baja cities, like Rosarito, Ensenada or Tijuana. I did see some interviews.
Respectfully disagree. I have lived in Mexico over 5 years and in Mazatlan for one, in a tower facing the ocean, from Nov 22 to Nov 23 and it cost 38,000 pesos a month...the view was awesome.. Mazatlan is for younger Spanish muchachos and mochas who want to party HARD. It was the loudest town I have ever lived in. No one speaks spanish (I do and it made it easy to live there). There is a lot to do but I suggest living a month there. Puerta Vallarta would be a much better choice. The reason I moved to Mazatlan was I heard all these great things and believed them. It WAS fun and I loved it but could not wait until my lease expired. I hope somebody listens, I didn't and what a shock!

Love Mazatlan! Great city and consider day trips to El Quilete, La Noria, Concordia and Copala in the Sonoran hills outside the city. I had a 2-bedroom apartment in Las Gaviotas, about 4 blocks from Zona Dorado for $13,500MX (electricity was about $6USD per month), all other services included.

Great video just like Cozumel! I came to Mazatlan 24 years ago for some summer courses at ITESM or I think also called Tec de Monterrey. It was a lot of fun. I think I want to come back for a couple months this summer from Houston, TX, USA. I’m not sure to do Airbnb or get on the ground there and try to rent an apartment for a month or two. I work remote so I may stay for a month I may stay for the full 6 months ifI can get the 180 tourist one. Anyways I subscribed to your news letter excited to learn more!
Excellent video! I’ve eagerly anticipated it all day. My plan is to semi-retire, splitting my time between Mazatlan and Southern California-half and half, God willing. I’m definitely interested in purchasing your relocation guide, Marianna. I’m Mexican living abroad and will not venture without your knowledge.
@@MexicoRelocationGuide Marianna, please consider creating separate videos for Ensenada and El Valle de Guadalupe. There is a growing interest among Mexicans in Southern California who are contemplating relocating across the border. While convinced about Mazatlán, I often ponder El Valle de Guadalupe for its allure and more.
Very good video. We are watching from Antalya, Turkey where we are checking it out as a retirement option. We live in Penang, Malaysia and have been living in SE Asia 39 years. We are looking at retiring in about 5 years and Mazatlan is on our short list. Also, we would love to see a video about Manzanillo.
Hi! May i ask why you are not considering retiring in SE Asia, as many of those countries come up often on retirement lists..ie. Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, Malaysia, etc. I look forward to your reply.
Looking to relocate to Mexico and Mazatlan I prefer over PV from articles and posts that I've read so far. I have a wife and three grandchildren coming with us. We've been living in the philipines for a tear for me and a lifetime for my wife. I'm a US Army veteran originally from New England area of US. I'm retired and we're living on my SS and VA benefits. I love your Vlog cast. Hope to be there by October. Getting excited about living with better lifestyle in Mexico. Thanks, Will N
Well done video. Very informative with great detail. One small comment, it would've been helpful if when talking about the cost of rent, food, etc, in Mexican pesos you would've also said what the U.S. dollar equivalent was. Other than that, I commend you on the amazing content you provided.
Sorry but that changes every single day because the exchange rates fluctuate. I think it's better to check on xe.com - I used to add all the dollar equivalents on previous videos but now they are irrelevant because the peso is no longer worth the same amount. And people comment upset that I am spreading misinformation. So this is the best way. Thanks for watching!
@@MexicoRelocationGuide you are doing it right...when things are priced in local currency that is how it should be presented. It's so easy to do a quick conversion! I think of that as similar to when people say they don't want to learn Spanish but are upset that not everyone speaks English. In Mexico things are priced in pesos.

Watching from New Jersey. My wife and I are visiting Mazatlan in late October for the first time. We are 66 & 67 and still working full time looking to retire in 2027 and we want to explore the possibility of living in Mexico during the winter months probably renting 4 to 6 months a year. Can you recommend a local realtor in Mazatlan, I know things will change when we retire but I want to get an initial feel for what this would cost and what we could find. Thank you for your channel it is interesting and informative and I appreciate your hard work. Regards, Mitchell
Hi Mitchell. All of our recommended contacts are part of our complete Mexico Relocation Guide. mexicorelocationguide.com/guide/ When you buy the guide you get instant access to our directory of contacts. However, most realtors won't love the idea of showing you places if you are not ready to sign a lease or rent right away. So because of that, I would recommend looking online first on sites like inmuebles24.com, Facebook marketplace, or on Facebook groups.
Helpful advice appreciated y’all! I’m planning on visiting Mexico. I have no idea how long I’ll stay. If I fit in and all works out, could be quite long. Now, best approach to booking a flight? Without too many hurdles. Thanks!
I am single, 56 man and like to walk , surf and eat healthy. I like a little privacy don’t need too much space. I am retired military and my budget is about $2000/mont total. Can you recommend a contact for something like this? Gracias!!!
I am from Mazatlan, it’s good money in Mazatlan, plus with your military record believe me you can get a lucrative part time in Sinaloa if you know what I mean 😊
Dude you are me. LOL. My top 3 were Mazatlan, Bucerias and Versalles (PV). I chose Bucerias because the neighbourhood I am buying into is very cute. You might want to check out San Pancho (San Fransicso) north of Sayulita.
I am a 58 year old female, retired military with a budget of $1200 USD. Can you make recommendations. Love to socialize, market shopping and eating healthy too. Mucho Gracious
Hi there! Your budget isn't unreasonable but it is a bit tight for living anywhere in a touristic city in Mexico such as Mazatlan. If you want your budget to go very far I would look into not so touristic cities instead.
So who do you believe? I want to move there so bad but I’m afraid because of all the different opinions I’ve heard. Are used to say that about Charleston South Carolina hoping people wouldn’t show up there, but they did show up anyway.
1200 is enough you just won’t be living like a rich American. You’ll need to get a smaller apartment in a neighborhood further from the malecon, cook at home etc if you shop or drink a lot etc you’ll have to watch the budget. Also if SS kicks in soon that should help
So much info, I couldn't keep up. I have no idea what the exchange rate is, so the rental prices .listed meant nothing to me. I'm just looking for a small studio/ 1bt in a reasonably safe walkable neighborhood, perhaps one of the first mentioned. I seen other videos where they mentioned such places in the historical district for around /$350 USD.
Check out XE.com- if you plan to live in Mexico it's important that you start learning the exchange rates because you will pay for everything in pesos :) thanks for watching
Hola Mariana, If an original Temporary Residency is due to expire in early March, knowing that it is recommended to renew within one month before the expiry date, do you know if immigration would allow a person to renew a few months prior to the expiry date instead of waiting until the one month prior ?
Hola! Welcome to the channel. Sinaloa as a whole state is hard to define as "safe" because it is made up of some cities that I personally wouldn't advise living in: like colima. However, I think Mazatlan is perfectly safe and do endorse it.
where are the local bus stops in Mazatlán? without stops, it’s hard to know where to wait for a local bus? and it seems Mazatlán airport banned Uber pickup? left only allowed taxi, and the taxis are charging expensive
definitely! we have a variety of realtors we recommend in our complete Mexico Relocation Guide when you buy the guide, you get immediate access to our directory of vetted contacts - see what’s included mexicorelocationguide.com/guide/
I am a doctor and I would like to add a point about government-run public health. In no way will they receive you for free for being American or Canadian, you can buy a membership that costs between 10,000 and 15,000 pesos per month and does not include obesity surgery or dental care, which is very expensive in your country, and if you are a resident, you do not have right to receive medical care, because you have never paid taxes and were not born here, it is in article 4 of our constitution, that only Mexicans have the right to free medical care. You will have to pay a membership monthly if you want medical care from the Mexican health system. Thank you for your attention, greetings and enjoy the beauty of our city.
I think your housing costs are much lower than reality. In the summer, advertised apartments are much less than snowbird season. The prices you have shown are definitely not what you see in the winter months. Generally, I’d say the average 1 bedroom decent apt (that expats would be comfortable in) is about $900-$1100 and 2 bedrooms $1200 to $1500.

1200 is enough you just won’t be living like a rich American. You’ll need to get a smaller apartment in a neighborhood further from the malecon, cook at home etc if you shop or drink a lot etc you’ll have to watch the budget. Also if SS kicks in soon that should help
How far is the rural area from the Centro? We are looking for a country house with at least .5-1 acre. If anyone know of info, please let me know.
Watching from Virginia.
welcome!

Hola Mariana,
If an original Temporary Residency is due to expire in early March, knowing that it is recommended to renew within one month before the expiry date, do you know if immigration would allow a person to renew a few months prior to the expiry date instead of waiting until the one month prior ?
No- you can only renew up to 30 days before expiration.

Hola
Watching from Montreal.
Just curious, is Sinaloa safe tho??
Hola! Welcome to the channel. Sinaloa as a whole state is hard to define as "safe" because it is made up of some cities that I personally wouldn't advise living in: like colima. However, I think Mazatlan is perfectly safe and do endorse it.

Thanks!
where are the local bus stops in Mazatlán? without stops, it’s hard to know where to wait for a local bus?
and it seems Mazatlán airport banned Uber pickup? left only allowed taxi, and the taxis are charging expensive
You need Light Rail -trams or monorail systems throughout Mexico !!!
Iowa, I would like to find a 4 to 5 bedroom and a 4 to 5 bathroom oceanfront

Mazatlan is in Sinaloa, not Sonora. 05:47 You say its own state Sonora.
This town is not in Sonora it’s in Sinaloa. 😅 5:40
we know that. I don’t think I said Sonora on the video?
I think your housing costs are much lower than reality. In the summer, advertised apartments are much less than snowbird season. The prices you have shown are definitely not what you see in the winter months. Generally, I’d say the average 1 bedroom decent apt (that expats would be comfortable in) is about $900-$1100 and 2 bedrooms $1200 to $1500.
Reminder this is a tourist spot, everything here is expensive, taxis, food and entertainment. It almost cost more than the US 🤦♀️
