Cheaper alternatives to all of this you can use if you’re starting from zero: - Microphone: AT2020 - Guitar: Squier Tele/Strat - Audio Interface: Behringer UMC202HD - Speakers: Use headphones in an apartment, Sony MDRs are great to start with - MIDI Keyboard: (he didn’t mention but essential IMO) M-Audio MK3 32 key - Pre-Amp/Compressor: use stock plugins to start, most DAWs have great options You’ll find yourself upgrading each but in todays day and age, the above equipment is absolutely enough to get you started
to get started: what you actually need is an interface (even just a focusrite scarlett with 1 or 2 inputs), a mic (something like a rode nt1a or shure sm57) and a pair of headphones. This is a very nice setup though 🙏 i’m making an entire album on just an audient id22 and a neumann tlm 102 in my treehouse right now
@@nicholasmarch3286technically yes you're right but personally I find panning matters in arrangement if you want your choruses to feel like choruses (ie bigger than verses) and so playing with things like panning can influence better arrangement decisions that help down the line
If you don’t have the option of having your monitors further apart, swap their placement so that the tweeters are on the outside. That should help with the less than ideal positioning. Good stuff though man!
ayyyyye A1398 club 🤘🏼 macbook pro 2016. i had a 2012 air before that. glad to see others still knowing their potential and enjoying ports and keys and not fucking dongles.
Thank you 🙏 This is helping me to plan my sound treatment. Watching people building beautiful diffusers got me way too excited! I’ll start with absorption panels and then consider if it’s worth adding any diffusion later :)
Hey man, it's so cool the you keep rocking a 12yo Macbook Pro, i swear those laptops are inmortal but, have you considered switching to the new Apple chip considering how cheap a Mac Mini M4 is?
Groovy set-up. A lot of ways to sound proof/dampen a room for recording. Depending on the set-up. Thanks for the tips and tricks. Look forward to future videos.
Everyone’s in the box so a Mac or pc, + mic and midi controller plus guitars or bass whatever. Can just pick a corner or a table and just set up. I used to have 2 full stacks, 7 amp heads, multiple synths. Now no amps, no synths just plugins and a midi controller to control all the synth plugins. Like a 99% reduction in space lol.
I really love this acoustic riff in the background, do you have this audio available elsewhere? I looked around on your Spotify but I couldn't find it. Thank you!
What version of iOS are you running on that 2012 MacBook? Also what daw and version? I have one that I’m considering using for music production and want to k ow what’s working for you guys considering how old it is
What is are you running on the ue MacBook pro? I'm hesitant to go beyond Catalina, but afraid it's getting to it's limit with software and apps not supporting older macOS systems.
I’ve upgraded mine up to Ventura using OpenCore Legacy patcher. It works great with 8GB of RAM and a 500GB SSD. I’d recommend that you change the main drive to an SSD and then upgrade to 16GB RAM. It will run like a champ, even for music production
yeah the monitor placement is terrible. close together, close to the back, which is also window, but let's be reasonable here he isn't mixing, he's recording. they're essentially reference monitors.
He also forgot the $20,000 you'll need to get that equipment 😂
💀💀💀
meh 10k
@@deathhaunts😂
5k to 10k.
Guys I know what gear cost. I was being facetious 😂
Just a little recommendation to have a look at monitor speaker placements 😊
Whole reason I clicked the vid. These things are insanely close to each other damn
Felt like this video was a shopping list of buzz word gear more than how to set up for recording and monitoring 🙃
@@nathandecker278seriously lol 😂 and not an sm57 in sight.
Ya’ll fell for that one pretty hard. He clearly set it up this way to get comments.
As fuck kurwa... 😮😮😮

Look into speaker distance and placement.
Right now things can only be panned from center to center. Essentially mono.
doesn't that only matter when it's time to mix? if he's just writing/ recording some ideas it shouldn't make a difference?

Just switching to an M1 is amazing, that being said, if its running, run it!

Thank you Justin!

Hi, how does the 2012 macbook holding up heavy duty recording task?
Theres no such thing as heavy duty recording just for vocals and guitars
My 2014 Mac holds up very well so his probably isn’t much different as far as recording goes
Rule n.1: have a lot of money
Do some cable management
Tweeters should be placed externally
How do you record sound can you make video about that .
