I'll be 18 in a few day and I want to get into karate next year when I go for varsity. The dojos I've gotten in contact with made me more confident and i think it'll be so much fun 😊
Im 17 turning 18 I joined Karate like when I was a kid but I stop and Now I joined again I can say im not very good but I just hope really really wish thar I'll improve And you too I wish you a best

What karate is good at is darting in, kicking within the pocket, and sidestepping then countering right away. I also feel like a lot of technique was lost in history. The competitions show the best Karate-ka out and fun to watch.
Sport karate is not martial karate. Sport karate is more like fencing than karate. Martial karate have most in common with muay thai than sport karate, for example. That's sad...
@@EG-cs3wv Yeah that makes sense, in real life, it isn't one hit and reset. I guess what I mean is that footwork and the timing great could translate to a real fight. Learn as much as you can, take what's useful and throw what is not.

I‘m a 4 time national champion, from my experience, its all strategies, if he/her is taller then you must wait, if not you go first, if you are faster you go first

@@wonderwoman4934 saya pernah berlatih karate INKAI kopassus waktu usia SMP. Teknik kuncian dan bantingannya menurut saya keren2 bgt. Tapi belum pernah teknik2 sekeren itu saya lihat diterapkan dalam kumite. Itu makanya muncul fikiran sy tsb
kumite; 1. karena karate yg dipertandingkan, maka mengumpul point lebih diutamakan sehingga terkesan colok2an. 2. kumite tidak boleh "full contack", itupun sudah memakai pengaman glove+foot protector, asih toh masih ada atlit berdarah atau KO. Mungkin terlihat "indah" kalau semua bentuk pukulan/tendangan dibolehkan dgn full body contack , tanpa pengaman, tpi dgn konsekwensi setiap selesai pertandingan 90% atlit masuk rumah sakit + cacat, dead. Tapi jg hrs diakui kumite belakangan ini sudah jauh berbeda dgn yg dulu dan kehilangan roh "kime" karate, jdi sprti cuma colok2 tinju doang, yg penting dpt dipertandingkan🤫
@@bangdan8803 I do goju Ryu, in the second Kata there's a move I like en easily incorporated in kumite. The first 2 katas in goju teach you a thing about kumite
i find a lot of the screams and celebrations after the move a bit over the top . i dont see amateur judokas, wrestlers or boxer scream so much. im sure in judo i would get a warning for "talking"
I agree with you. This aren't fights indeed. Is more like a mix between fencing and... I don't know. Sport karate is not a martial art, but a sport related with one

In Kumite, priority is given to the speed of punches or kicks, so try watching it at half the speed
