- In this video I cover the the basics of vector inking and coloring comic/cartoon artwork in Affinity Designer. I talk a little in the beginning, and it runs a bit longer than I wanted it to so I'm putting some links here so you can jump around.

I've been using Affinity Designer for a couple of years now, working mainly with vector shapes using the pen tool. Tapering vector brush strokes has always presented something of a mental block for me, and I've struggled to find useful tutorials on the subject. Until NOW! Thanks so much for putting this together Robert, it's been really helpful and you have answered questions that have quietly plagued me for ages. Great work, I'm really looking forward to the next one!

This is such a good tutorial!i have designer for years but i am so used to illustrator and could not grasp how the tools on ipad worked.

One thing, in the future tutorial, if you could mention where the button is before you move on to every next step it would be helpful because I can’t see your hand on the screen and many times I couldn’t catch up. In your templates that come with your kits, how do make the inking and coloring show through the paper, or vice versa? I want to be able to see the inking and the paper show through.
I love Affinity designer but one thing about it that I hate is the vector brushes. You can’t edit them a lot, and the inking lines when you finish a stroke doesn’t have that lingering effect that makes the end really sharp and pointy. Unless you’re using those with pulling effect which make the middle of the lines thick af and you can’t control with pressure 🤦🏻♂️
