The knitting commentary in the background is such an ADD Mood 😂😂😂 “am I pearling or knitting?” … “what am I doing?” I went on the journey with you. Don’t ever change 😂
She actually does have a video where she goes through how to design this style of cover in design space. I can’t remember the name of it off the top of my head though
I love these videos your voice is so calming. I’m also learning I really want to do this but don’t know where to start so the list really helps narrow things out. Can’t wait for more videos.
If you haven’t seen it yet my previous video on the channel bookbinding 101 - overview and costs goes through the costs of things and what you don’t HAVE to have and some cricut alternatives (I also have another full video on cover designs that don’t use the cricut as well if you’re interested! 😊
@ThatsMyBookshelf thanks so much. I love how you're sharing all these tips they help so much. I have a heat press and a cricut, so I'm good to go. I just need supplies to actually do the binding
This is such a great tutorial! Thanks for making it so in depth - also appreciate the tips on what you've previously tried and why you prefer it this way. This is definitely a video to come back to multiple times!
Oh thank you!! Yes I was lucky enough to go to a talk and signing event Julia was at. It was a fascinating discussion - highly recommend going to see her if she comes to your area!
I’ve been watching all of your videos -Thank you so much for the tutorials! Will you be doing any large books like Priory of the Orange Tree. I saw in your tutorial you mentioned using card stock for the spine and I don’t want to screw up 😂
This is so amazing. I've been wanting to bookbind some of my favorite books, and now I can follow your video step by step!!! Could you teach us how to do the design cover? THANK YOU!!❤❤
Hey! On my channel I have a lot of other book binding videos, some that go into a lot more detail if this one wasn't enough. Also check out my playlist "cricut designs" (I think that's what it's called?) but anyways I just made a playlist where I put my cricut tutorials in one place and they cover that :)
Question, if a book I’m rebinding has loose pages that came out when reading (thick book, cracked spine a bit too much), does this ensure said loose pages would be stuck back in place or should I try to glue them back in individually
Depending on where they came out you can definitely glue them back in. If they came out in the middle I’d put a small amount of glue on the end of it and basically try to tip it on. And if they are front or back pages I’d treat them similar to how you glue end pages on
@ awesome thank you very much. You mention in the video that some books are too thick to use book board for the spine. Do you have an idea at what width that may start to be an issue? What would be a good substitute?
@@davestrider9535 just some yardstick would work great, give it more flexibility. I'd say think crescent city and ones a little smaller than that I wouldn't use buckboard for the spine with. You don't even have to ever use buckboard you can just use cardstock but I like the look of the flat spine for my thinner books

Can you please do a video about your start to finish process of designing the covers? There is not a lot of resources out there for it!

Hey! I just made a playlist on my channel called cricut tutorials that has two videos on how to use cricut design space and how I design my covers 😊
Honesty I'd just love a link to some of the ones you've created already. Could those be shared?

Hello, what’s the thickness of the presized board you usually use and their dimensions?

@ so would something like a 2 inch text block be too big for a stiff case binding?
