    Glad that it was not just flattened and turned into more tacky housing. But so sad to see what was once a major gem and source of employment and great trades, in the Medway Towns has become along with what was HMS Pembroke. Thank you, Margaret Thatcher and John Knott, if I had my way your heads would still be on Traitors Gate!

    My first ship was the Nubian !! 1979 finished at Chatham then joined the Rothesay at CHATHAM walked the 100yrds in uniform and kit bag to join !!

    Very interesting Jack. What is the music called that started at 5 minutes in? I'm sure it's what we marched on to the parade ground for divisions.
    I did my cooks training at HMS Pembroke in 1976, happy days. I went on my first ever ships visit during my training to HMS Bacchante
    My dad was based at Chatham in the 1950's.

    I wounder why they haven't opened the large underground bunker as an attraction !! I was one of the work parties that bricked it up !!
