My personal head canons are this: - New Leafstones are made from rocks mines from the Moss Rock, which is why Leafeon can now be evolved into with a Leafstone. - Icestones (which were unavailable before Gen VII) are mined from the rocks near the Ice Rock on Mt. Lanakila (and eventually everywhere else) which is now why Glaceon and Crabominable can now be evolved with an Icestone. - New Thuderstones are mined in places with special magnetic fields (like Chargestone Cave in Unova) which is why now Magnezone, Probopass and Vikavolt can be now evolbved into with a Thunderstone.

Hey dude! You forgot Nosepass, Magneton, and Charjabugs evolutions being changed from sun and moon to sword and shield- they went from Canyon tied evolutions in Alola to thunder stone evolutions in galar. Hope this helps!
Regarding Shedinja, does anyone ever actually reach a point in the game where they don't have any pokeballs on them? Once you're able to buy them, I always have some on me. Usually many of different kinds, but I'm never out of them. The closest I can be to 'out of pokeballs' is if I'm trying to catch some low catch rate rare mon that is being stubborn and even then, I have never actually fully run out of pokeballs. Maybe it's just me, but I always make sure my inventory is well stocked at all times. Not having a slot in your party to fit in Shedinja causing you to miss out, I can see happening a lot. But not having a pokeball on you? Maybe that would happen to some players, but not me, lol. How would that even happen? I understand the logic behind it. A pokemon needs a pokeball to call home, but it just feels like such a weird requirement.
There are still some evolution changes i would want them to do,like giving an Eevee a moon stone or sun stone to evolve inti an Espeon or umbreon, and a shiny stone evolves Eevee into Sylveon.
If Eevee can evolve into Leafeon by Leaf Stone, what's stopping Eevee from evolving into either Espeon or Umbreon by Sun Stone or Moon Stone? It beats the time-waster that is Friendship at day or night. Also, I think Eevee can evolve into Sylveon by Shiny Stone.
Iirc both methods work in pla but as this is the first mainline pokemon game to only have 1 version the link cable allows for a 100% single player game to be possible
Honestly Slyveon should still use the mini game mechanic for Gen 8 you would have to substitute the Pokemon Camp mechanic. it would have been the best spot for a dragon eeveelution.
However changed Feebases evolution method deserves to be fired I can't even be evolve it anymore, since it's trade evolution(the worst evolution method)

You know what, I was kinda hoping they'd do more of the contest stat evolutions before they totally scrapped it. Like, a branching evo where the maxed contest stat determine what it evolves into.
Also to add that primeape has to level up using the move rage fist 20 times and grirafraig into farigriaf level up knowing the move twin beam dunsparce into dudunsparce leveling up knowing the move hyper drill and hisuan qwilfish into overqwil level up know the move barb barrage and applin into dipplin with a syrupy apple the dipplin into hydrapple learning the move dragoncheer and leveling up and duraladon into archaladon giving it the metal allow in chargestone cave all either scarlet or violet or legends arcues
Leafeon was planned for Gen 2 and he was supposed to evolve from a Leafe stone. Umbreon was supposed to be a poison Type, evolving from a poison stone. But that changed and i am sad Leafeon has no stripes and has a full green body but its another yellow eeveelution. QwQ

But since Umbreon and Espeon are cat Youkai, Gamefreak choose Umbreon to be dark type because Bakeneko are evil cat youkai and Espeon got the psychic type, because of the nice Cat youkai Nekomata and the longer the tails get split, the more powerful in magic it is. Meowstic is like Espeon another Nekomata but with full split tails. Gen 2 has no cat Pokemon because Umbreon and Espeon are representing cat Pokemon each Generation have.
I personally love all the weird evolution methods. They’re pretty unique, make the pokemon far more memorable and they also tie into the lore of the pokemon. And I’d take the friendship evolutions and weird evolutions over trade evolutions any day.
I think Leafeon not being able to evolve with a Leaf Stone was one of the stupidest things ever. It was so obvious imo 😭

This was them trying new evo methods. This is the same gen that require Nosepass and Magneton to be in Mt Coronet to evolve.
You forgot, Sneasel regular evolves with a razor claw at night while Hisuian Sneasel evolves with the razor claw in the day

The galarian form of Slowpoke does not need to be traded to evolve. Just use the items like you use a stone.

Running out of balls in general is hard but remember Shedinja needs a regular Poké Ball. I can see some players having only Great and/or Ultra Balls

Pokemon like Graveler, Machoke, Haunter and Kadabra did have their evolution method changed in Legends Arceus from a trade evolution to a link cable

In my opinion having a variant of a Pokémon evolve in a totally unrelated way is kind of confusing and unintuitive, though some of them can be fun.
