Years ago they were digging up where the park sat . A guy who works for Tony saw that part of the Reservoir was still in tact . He called Tony and a few of the old locals skated what was left until the construction crew had to level it . Video is on here . I grew up across the street from the park . Sad day when the tore it down
Loooove that you can find these ….. after “ until the wheels fall off “ in April of 2022 I was bit by the nostalgia bug …. growing up in pacific beach it would still be hard to find these videos so now with TH-cam it’s amazing to come across these 👏🏻🛹👏🏻🛹👏🏻🛹….. so cool 🛹🛹🛹
It just becomes a habit after a while. Whether in deep pool or on a halfpipe, knee slides save you from massive slams. But, slams happen, lol. Like pumping the transition, 50/50 grinds and dropins, it's the bread and butter of vert skating. If you don't learn to fall the right way quickly, you won't be skating vert for very long. NOW, nut shots on missed handrails street skating... Well, that's another thing, lol.
I could watch 80's Del Mar footage til the end of time and never get tired of them. Best skateboarding of all time from all of those guys.
I love the surfer style that was still there. These guys had some style
I remember reading about this one in Thrasher Magazine. So cool to see it! Gibson is ripping!

And how about Stacy meeting his guys loving it.

1:28 Where did they all learn to fall like this on their knees?? It is an incredible feat in itself.

Al Losi true power Skater. If Al Skated more no telling
How good he would be
Allen is suffering from a disease that affects his muscular system. I'm sure he would love to skate more ☺
I didn't appreciate him back in the day, but sure do now. Man his run here is nice, awesome power and style

This is awesome but what I think is so funny is that I can actually name all the tricks.
Sucks that Lester bailed as soon as his final run started. His run in part 1 was great.

Miller fast plant and hawk stale gay twist👀👀👀

Damn. The golden age of scatology.
For many years Tony Hawk was unbeatable back then like a super Human being.
Jeff Phillips beat him in '86. Chris Miller beat him in '87. Hosoi beat him sometime in there.
How many are dead? You will never enjoy the 80s again.
Hawk has always been the best. IMO
