His drummer Chris Layton said that the way he was dressed onstage was the way he dressed all the time.
A lot of us know that as 'stank face'.

Stevie's brain and heart were in his hands, leaving his face free to dance to the music

Let's not forget that SRV isn't just an awesome lead guitarist but a phenomenal rhythm guitarist as well...his fills of rhythm fill those important gaps and moments which makes a 3 piece band sound alot fuller. My man...my hero...THE G.O.A.T!

that is the best description of SRV's fashion I have ever heard. What blows my mind besides SRV himself are Chris Layton on drums and the incredible Tommy Shannon on bass. Later with the addition of Reese Wynans on keyboards, they turned a great band into a God Level band. Tommy is on my Mount Rushmore of Bass players with Marcus Miller, Rob Trujillo and Cliff Burton (RIP Cliff). Above them all though is Jaco Pistorious who was a stone cold killer on bass.

This is my favourite video of SRV. He's live at the El Mocambo in Toronto Canada. Next in line is Look At Little Sister, in which Stevie breaks a string. His guitar swap is seamless, facilitated by absolutely top-notch stage hands.

Greetings from flooded Tarrant County. I like how Stevie was in full stank face mode while Chris and Tommy stayed chill. After this performance the guitar had to have a cigarette and a paternity test.

SRV ~ 🎸🐐 THE goat of all goats
You just witnessed one of the greatest guitar performances ever caught on film... regardless of genre.

Was a 17 year old at that show and hooked ever after till the last show he did in upstate NY two weeks before he was killed. What a loss of an amazing guitarist. RIP SRV.

I remember the first time I saw this performance. I'll never be the same. After this, I couldn't get enough. It just changed everything. Great reaction to greatness unfolding before your eyes. If ever a man was put on this Earth to play guitar, this is the being. Human or Alien? ☮️

According to Tommy Shannon's book (bassist) this was Stevie's hottest performance on tape. This was in 1983 and a couple years before his sobriety. An hour before the show, he had to be roused from a "cocaine induced coma" by medical professionals. After 45 minutes of IV fluids and vitamins, he came too. Hence the more than extra sweat and notes in this particular show.

I have always loved Stevie Ray's live performances. I saw him in concert on his "Couldn't Stand the Weather" world tour in Nov 1984 in Brisbane, Queensland. His band was one of the loudest 3-piece bands I have ever heard. So good. As a Queenslander, I can totally relate to terrible floods especially in the last decade.

Greetings from San Antonio, my fellow Texan and SRV fan. I've said the same thing many times. Loved their music from day one, but after the live performance videos started coming out, I started to understand just how badass he was. He was asked in an interview "where do you buy your clothes?" Without missing a beat, (as usual) Stevie said, "oh mainly at truck stops" Enjoy your reactions to him.

I don't know guitars, but I watched a video of a guy trying to string a stock guitar of the same type Stevie played and it started pulling the spring mechanism out of the back of the guitar. I can't recall the exact strings, but I know Stevie used a mix of 13's and I believe a 9 on the highest note string.

"IF" my research (and memory - yes I'm that old) are correct....The publicly purchasable video was released in '85 - nut the performance was the middle of '84 while on the supporting tour for the album, which as you stated was released in '83....
    "Cheers"...
