Totally with you regarding the kids, or lack thereof! There's just a wonderfully laid-back vibe when there are no kids around. Everyone just seems more relaxed and able to chill a bit more. I think we can agree, we don't dislike kids, but when it comes to my vacations/cruises, relaxed & laid-back is exactly what I'm shooting for. No screaming kids, and no parents screaming at them!!
haha agreed! Kids are not the enemy but for an vacation, no part of my tranquil beach day includes kids. Sometimes, I think the parents are the worse. My friends joke that when parents go on a cruise vacation with their kids, they also take a vacation from their kids.
Richard’s Rooftop is the area for Rockstars. Yes it’s outdoors, but it’s actually really nice. Plenty of seating and relaxing. The service is amazing. We loved it and can’t wait for our next sailing in a few weeks. The daily Moët Sunset Hour was superb!

We just came back from a cruise on Vision of the Seas and very much enjoyed seeing the old-fashion photo display - where they display the actual photo on the wall instead of digital images on a computer screen - where you download and/or print selected photos. I know it is very old fashioned, but there is something fun and entertaining about rummaging through all of the photos on the wall and “finding” yourself! 😊

You are right, people that have only ever experienced the video monitors don't know the joy of searching out your picture, the frustration of not finding it, the excitement of finding it, and being able to peak at everyone else's crazy photos! I absolutely loved my cruise on Virgin Voyages, but you're right about your cons list. I was very fortunate with my sailing and didn't have any issues booking dining and really only wanted to see Duel Reality, but got in with no problem when I got on the ship.
I like the requirements of towels being checked out. I hate when I’m looking for pool chairs and there are towels everywhere. I don’t know if the chair is taken or not. If you have to return a towel..it gives you incentive to not hold the space up.
I hear that though I wouldn't say the chair hog situation is any better on cruise lines where you have to check them out. This is a pet peeve of mine too and I have no idea how to solve it.
That's a good strategy Bill to mix it up! I have been using my bogo a lot these days and doing a 3rd a-la-carte option like sushi or playmakers to keep it in budget. Have done the full Ultimate Dinning Package on a few 7 nighters and it is exhausting!
I agree that I do miss a real buffet on Virgin, though the desserts in the Galley are way better than what I’ve had on RC buffets. One shouldn’t have to resort to PB&J though, other fast places to get lunch include the Social Club, the Sun Club, the Dock House, and the Grab-n-Go refrigerators. I love the dance parties on VV, they are unlike anything else I have experienced. But the one time I did a Hush party on RC was pretty amazing too.
It's more the convenance of the buffet I think I missed. The food in the Galley is a higher quality of what they served - somehow I managed to stay away from the deserts on this sailing!

The difference between pizza on VV and on most other lines is that it is made to order on Virgin rather than grabbing. a slice that has been sitting under a warming lamp. So you can have your pizza customized and it is always fresh...but you will wait 15 minutes or so. Did you explore any of the daily specials in The Galley? On our cruise, there were multiple specials every day; unfortunately they were not on the menu so you had to walk around to see what they were. Three was also a nightly dinner special which was typically excellent. We found lunch specials at the taco, sandwich, dessert, salad, and "bread" place almost daily. At the bread place, they were typically some sort of casserole dish. On port days, the desserts were usually themed to the country we were visiting. And the brunch places include stuff like steak. We've never had trouble getting reservations in advance on VV or changing them once we were on board....but we are typically a group of 2, so not a large number. Otherwise I basically agree with you. THere is a small (big enough to dunk) pool away from the noise, but overall the pools stink. Also, did you check out the Social Club? They have large screen TVs and typically have any big sports events or cultural events showing....as well as various activities and food.

Had the fried chicken sandwich which was very good! For sports, I did head to the Athletic Club ! They turned this into a sports venue as Miami Heat was in the race to make it to the championship. Glad they were able to show that as a lot of Miami locals would not have been happy!
That's an interesting comparison. I always thought that Virgin Voyages was trying to compare themselves to a cruise line like Celebrity or Princess. But yeah, the pool area on VV sucks and there's no kids, but the "party all the time" atmosphere isn't my thing anymore so I'd rather relax on a Celebrity Edge-class ship, that also has included beverage package, WiFi and gratuities.
I completely agree with you. I came here to say, “Well obviously my choice is Celebrity.” RCCL is overrun with children and slides and zip lines and race tracks etc. etc., and Virgin Voyages is definitely not my demographic. Or my vibe. 🤷♀️
It is true, even though it is adults only, it isn't for everyone and is definitly a more party atmosphere. Glad we have options! Celebrity is getting in the weekend cruise business and excited for that in 2025!

Did you show your mom in a recent video on Virgin? Id love to know what she thought. I know the chairs are not the most comfortable. Delighted you brought her as i go all the time with my mom on VV. We have spent 8 weeks on Valiant Lady and we have 5 more weeks booked - Resilient lady in October and next April we will do tue Transatlantic on Scarlet...never been on her. Plus our TA is €45 per day per person....plus the $600 bar tab, the deep blue $100 and the $600 MNVV SAILOR loot. Such great value

I have gone in Carnival, X, NCL. This fall we are doing a Viking river cruise. In a few years we plan on doing PG or Oceania to Tahiti. I have a feeling I will still like Royal better. Let’s see what happens in Tahiti!

It is easiest to be healthy on Virgin Voyages hands down. Their healthy food is also going to be the best tasting food. Only probably I struggled with on Virgin Voyages was in The Galley, they wouldn't always have just a simple protein to grab for lunch.

We have really enjoyed trying different lines. We started our cruising adventures on NCL (4 of them) then tried MSC, Royal and are taking Princess to Alaska in a couple weeks!! Our first Virgin cruise is in November so we are excited about that, oh ya, no kids!! Hopefully the pool area on our cruise doesn’t look like this, ugh. I will say we have been on one Royal cruise (Liberty of the Seas) and we liked it but the buffet was madness, after one time up there we stuck with the MDR. We are going on the Independence in September so we will see how that goes.
I think you are right on trying differnet lines Brant. I wish I would have figured that out earlier too. Nothing wrong at all with cruising RCL all the time but it is good to change it up and see what else is out there. Have a blast on Indy! She is my 2nd favorite ship in the fleet!
On sea days, go to the pool in the morning. Nowhere near as loud and crowded. On port days, the pool is basically empty, so no issue there. And remember - the pools (hot tubs, etc) are never crowded with children. That's a huge plus.
Another short and straightforward explanation video. Never have i tried cruising with virgin voyages and i really looked forward to the "all adult" aspect of it! Singapore doesnt have virgin voyages sadly :( Edit: its a great video is what im trying to say in the first part :D

Longest videos I do are the walking tours of the ships and they just physically take time! haha The Virgin fleet is growing though! They will have 4 ships by end of year I believe or close to! Aww thank you! It's funny, I always miss things from the other cruise lines regardless of who I sail. I have YET to meet a cruise I didn't like! Part of missing RCL is also being a creature of habit and choosing the "easy" option. I really do look forward to going on both again!
Virgin probably is not for me, but the new mega amusement park ships are not either. I prefer a more traditional cruise experience and so far I am finding that on the smaller older ships from Princess and Royal. Also the best fares seem to be when the kiddo's are in school which is a double benefit.
I can see how a lot of people are like that. Virgin is not going for the relax cruiser vibe but the high energy/fun vibe. Would love to try Princess one day but they need to do shorter sailings!

Yes! The Galley lunch is just so inefficient. The shows on VV were almost impossible to get into. I wasn't able to see several shows due to not getting a reservation. The pop-up shows were also problematic because you had to be in the right place at the right time. I think having even a loose schedule would be nice. No kids is a huge thing!! Though there were some adult kids...even me every once in awhile...lol I love the restaurants, I just wish there was more availability for last minute swaps.
Yeah, I almost made a video on "their biggest wins are their biggest failures" to talk about these exact issues. I love their shows and restaurants but the process of getting in is killer! hahah adult kids.
They don't!!! I totally didn't notice they didn't have this! Mainly because I never pay it any mind. Yes, I would be VERY glad if the art gallery's went away.

Hi Brandon. I'll stay with Royal. From what I've seen from your videos, Virgin doesn't even come close. Too many hassles. You can't beat the Windjammer or Sorrento's pizza! You can eat very healthy at the Windjammer (I've done it) with a great variety of different foods every day. Plus, Sorrento's pizza is sooo good and it's quick and convenient; plus it's open until 3AM! You also have the Royal Promenade where you can get little sandwiches or treats 24 hours a day!
Yeah, as much as I love their food, it is certainly a hassle to get in. Virgin isn't for everyone and not sure I would want to "play that game" every weekend but to change it up, not bad! Favorite pizza at Sorentos?

It's true but sometimes you just want a quick experience. Brunch in Razzle Dazzle was one of our favorite meals on the ship actually1 the Bacon!!!

I have not! I keep looking at Norwegian but they don't have a sailing I can make until 2025.

HeyJava, I keep looking at NCL but they don't have many weekend sailings. Found one for 2025 on the Sky but she doesn't have solo rooms, it's only on certain ships.

They do have on-demand music but I do not recall what it was.

they have good food, it just isn't what I always wanted :-(. And the PBJ was really good - especially if you ask for PB, they are a little skimpy there ;-)

Thank you!! After 3 sailings with them, the only issue I still take up is the pool. No idea how they managed to design such a bad experience there. Everything else has either grown on me or I figured it out.
Yes! The Galley lunch is just so inefficient. The shows on VV were almost impossible to get into. I wasn't able to see several shows due to not getting a reservation. The pop-up shows were also problematic because you had to be in the right place at the right time. I think having even a loose schedule would be nice.
No kids is a huge thing!! Though there were some adult kids...even me every once in awhile...lol I love the restaurants, I just wish there was more availability for last minute swaps.
Yeah, I almost made a video on "their biggest wins are their biggest failures" to talk about these exact issues. I love their shows and restaurants but the process of getting in is killer! hahah adult kids.
does Virgin have the art exhibits and auctions? I wish Royal would get rid of those altogether and replace it with something nice.
They don't!!! I totally didn't notice they didn't have this! Mainly because I never pay it any mind. Yes, I would be VERY glad if the art gallery's went away.

haha I enjoy attempting to be healthy but I am 100% not a salad bar kind of person. It appeals to me in the least lol Will opt to eat unhealthy before a salad ahaha

Hey Tilly and my pleasure! Interestingly, I too am fairly loyal to Royal and have cruised 95% of the time with them. Just started branching out this year and have sailed with Virgin Voyages three times and MSC twice now. As RCL is my go-to cruise line, I naturally compare everything to it. My Royal experience was HORRIBLE food, lived on pizza. Had great shows, too many children running around!

Hi Brandon. I'll stay with Royal. From what I've seen from your videos, Virgin doesn't even come close. Too many hassles. You can't beat the Windjammer or Sorrento's pizza! You can eat very healthy at the Windjammer (I've done it) with a great variety of different foods every day. Plus, Sorrento's pizza is sooo good and it's quick and convenient; plus it's open until 3AM! You also have the Royal Promenade where you can get little sandwiches or treats 24 hours a day!
Yeah, as much as I love their food, it is certainly a hassle to get in. Virgin isn't for everyone and not sure I would want to "play that game" every weekend but to change it up, not bad! Favorite pizza at Sorentos?
