      My Dad is a war vet and was a sapper in demolitions (Royal Engineers) and retired fireman in Britain. That day, he told my mother and younger sister those buildings were going to collapse. I'm guessing a lot of demolitions experts would have figured the towers were coming down. The surprise was how fast it happened. He thought they had a few more hours at least to evacuate. He's said he didn't imagine just how much fuel was on the planes and how hot it would burn. Even half way around the world it was a shock.

    • @missychelle33
      @missychelle33 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Those firefighters knew the possibility. They knew what the situation was- I bet they’d do it again too. NY firefighters are a different breed. That or no one thought there was a possibility that those towers would ever fall & those firefighters thought they would go up and put out that fire and bring people down. No matter what I think they knew what could possibly happen.

    I know hindsight is 20/20, but I don't think the explosion in 1993 was handled properly. To me, COUNTRIES AWAY, I KNEW the 1993 explosion was a terrorist attack WHEN IT HAPPENED. When 9/11 happened, and I saw it in 2001 on T.V., AS IT WAS HAPPENING, I wondered why the explosion of 1993 was NOT taken SERIOUSLY. I knew it was serious!! It wasn't dealt with effectively. There were so many "signs" that a huge terrorist attack happened in1993 and that some other act of terrorism was going to happen and was on its way. So sad, unbelievable and PREVENTABLE, in my opinion. I believe Government had all the Intelligence on the 1993 bombing and should have known that something else was going to happen when that bomb did not do what it was intended to do!

      As a 9 year old at the time, I too felt the helplessness of wanting to help others any way I could. A little difficult not being able to since I was a kid and I also lived in California too. Over the years, I learned of not just to small yet effective deeds Americans did to remain resilient, but of our friends and allies around the world for keeping our spirits up. While I cannot speak as someone who was there at the event, I still thank you for your kind thoughts of wanting to help us; whether you had the chance to or not, it's appreciating going back to know who is like family to us.
