    As someone who rarely sticks with games (especially mmo’s) it took me a long time to even beat A Realm Reborn and even with my up’s and downs with the game I have always came back to it because the story and especially the community is unparalleled. There is always someone willing to help you if you are stuck, or just shoot the shit with you if you’re bored and with the abundance of horizontal content there is so much you can experience that isn’t even tied to the Main Story.
    I am just finished Shadowbringers tonight and am about 671 hours in. I highly suggest everyone to give this game a shot, the start can definitely feel like walking through sludge at times but as you go through it, it only gets better and better! Excited to see where Endwalker takes me 😅

Not considering people who get into the game with mindset that "they will not like it", or trolls who supposedly played it, but not really (Watched streams and a bit on youtube) And even those who play it as regualr mmo skipping trough every dialogue n shit/boosting into the end game and not able to do shit/not caring about anything cuz skipped the story and lore. Ignoring all those people, some simply do not like the game. But love stuff like ESO or WoW (when exp is good enough)

    • @tarkelson2457
      @tarkelson2457 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm deciding between the two right now, and so far eso is taking the cake by a landslide. The cool down simulators gameplay of FF really turns me off. I don't want to have to remember and learn 42 different abilities and their cool downs, and when to use them. That sounds soooooo boring and painful. I want to play the game, not stress about which tiny picture to click 32 times to kill an enemy

    • @zenixvampirchik652
      @zenixvampirchik652 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tarkelson2457 That depends on the perception. Personally after initial honeymoon phase with non target systems, I started to prefer mostly target based MMORPGs. There were some cool combat systems with non target/hybrid approach but barely any. Prob not even five of them. (on a side note fuck tera. Combat in tera sucked)
      So if you choose between FF and TESO rn...
      FF combat is slow only at the start. Well at least on melee classes, as I didn't play any casters/range dmg classes so idk about them.
      At the end game you constatly doing something. You don't have a time to just stand there and wait for cd or some other bullshit. You're playing the game.
      It pretty much gets better every next expac/10 levels after 50. Both, your skillset and fights themselves.
      Buuut first 30 levels is a complete drag (comparing to wow). 50 is more or less full base of the class. And then expacs improve it futher, making it more pleasant to play.
      Teso on the other hand... Idk, I have for a few years now, but still didn't move past character creator.
      Though what I heard from a close friend - combat is action like, kinda TES-like cluncky, but with mmo twists on it.
      What I can say for sure - is that it's unique. But not much besides.
      I suggest you to try both, prob starting from teso.
      FF has a free trial with blah blah blah, award winning expansion, blah blah blah, free content without time limit up to the level 60.
      Teso first cuz it kinda easier to get into if you want action and pleasant experience right away.
      FF14 as a cool game starts from heavensward only. But it also doesn't really work without all the world building and time to learn the pace of the game and your first class that you get in 1-50 lvls. (which aren't that bad nowadays, but some parts of it are really tedious. Short parts, but tedious nontheless)

I also wish that the costuming system was less like WoW's transmog where changing a gear piece breaks the outfit, and more like ESO where once you set an outfit it is set. I also have a friend I like to play with, so it is kind of a bummer that dungeons are either 4 players or 1 player with 3 NPC helpers, it would be a lot more fun if we could play 2 players with 2 NPC helpers.

I am hoping to get back into the game again, but no matter how successful I am, I’ll never buy something in a game again that can be taken away from me if real life takes me away from the PC again. Not worth it. The amount of currency I had dropped into that house was royally off the scale, and when FFXIV deletes a house for lack of login, you get none of it back. Ouch.
    That said, I have great nostalgia for FFXIV and, if my career gives me time enough, I may start playing it again. Not sure if my account or character will even still exist as it has been a few years, but I plan to find out.

    Something that I think came off unclearly in the video: while the cash shop is definitely not predatory, there ARE mounts, cosmetics, minions, etc. that can only be obtained through the cash shop. The game just doesn’t advertise it to you, and like the video says, there are a ton of awesome mounts/cosmetics that are obtained from just playing the game

    Something else to mention about the free trial restrictions which is a big one. You can't add friends, or be in a party. Found that out after talking my friends into trying it out, and we can't even play together unless we purchase the full game. Just an fyi that felt weird not to include in that section of the video.

  • @rtbear674
    @rtbear674 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Yes, and it still have a long life forward. 2 of the things that worries people who haven't tried probably these.
    Longevity
    Before I started it I thought if it's MMO best start at ground level, and since FFXIV been there for 10 years, they probably retire it soon and make a new one. but played FFXIV changed my mind. Have 10 years of content just need to be explored anytime you want. They just can keep updating the graphics afterwards in an expansion. all dungeons are relevant, you can be joined with npc, or higher level player sync down to your level to help you do your content with auto finder.
    Gearing up
    When you reached end game, you can hop on to the BiS farm without a hitch. No need to worry about equipments at all (till end game). not like You have to farm level 60 enemies hoping it drop good enough weapon so you can fight level 63 enemies in another area. You get new gear in the story too.
    How long to catch up to recent content
    I take my time, probably spent 1 month per expansion. and still have some side quests I haven't done. so 3-5 months playing normally. Also no need to rush to end game, as there's always a newer end game. And you will feel more enjoyable during the journey itself.
    End game
    Gposing is my end game XD

    • @cornprices1718
      @cornprices1718 ปีที่แล้ว

      i think what makes the ff14 gear treadmill bearable is that you just straight up buy the bis gear with currency the game gives you for playing the content necessary to unlock it. there's no rare drops that can give you just a *slightly* better set of gear. the best gear is the gear that is equally accessible to everyone else playing the same content

    • @rtbear674
      @rtbear674 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cornprices1718 Also raiding is cheap to do in FFXIV.
      99 food = 150k (can last for 1 month+)
      99 pot = 150-250k (can last for 2-3 weeks or more)
      DR bonus + adventure in need = 125k per day.
      1x treasure map = 120-200k, and can reach 1m if got jackpot.
      level 86 culinarian = 840k per 2 weeks.
      I can just buy tsai tou vounou and submit to the leve quest every week, it earn enough for raid's pot and foods.
      Don't need to farm something on the side to buy for pot and food, or buy wow token.

  • @Gotalanes789
    @Gotalanes789 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    combat like wow ?
    cmon the game feels slow , gcd 2,5sec is a lot and with so many buttons to push thats for me a dealbreaker, sometimes it just feels like the game is complicated for no reason, dungeons are daft,ye olde english in every quest doesnt help anything either, ammount of cutscenes that can cause ptsd from them, quests mostly are just hollow runaround, gearing system is bland no variety at all, i played the story , was cool but im gonna stay away until next expansion, Pvp is nonexistent, Maybe ill log once a while for doing stuff on my island but cant see a reason to buy a sub just for that. The glamour is just not all that fantasy for me ? Looks kinda bland most of the time, armour sets are in low numbers even tho the game is over 12 yrs old, but this is because the gear in this game is nonexistent.Mounts cant be used in cities where the most of the players are , so the cool mount is just for your eyes only most of the time kinda blows the fact you cant even show off if you drop that rare piece.Sorry but this video felt like a commercial for ff14 rather then fair evaluation. Also note to anyone having issues with your account or anything, the support is pretty much non existent, if its not a dumb thing that most of the time they just tell you to fix yourself, they are going to tell you they cant help in any way or just write another ticket where another agent tells you that they cant help you at all, for instance ive entered wrong country of origin because i overlooked it during acc creation, bought the whole game then got my account blocked because they thought i stole the credit card, simple account info unchangeable thing that noone can fix, great that i had to make another account spend again the same sum, but hey atleast it had a cool story right ? Swtor story kept me intrigued way more and didnt cost me a fortune at the start.

    Guild Wars 2 is the only MMO to have ever hooked me, so everything gets compared to that. I've finally decided to put that down and maybe try a different MMO (always had the mentality, why would I put time into another MMO, when i still have stuff to do in GW2, a game I've been playing off and on since launch). With FF16 coming out, this has been on my mind. I've tried the free trial before, but I dont think I made it more than an hour. Unfortunately that means I'd have to buy to try it again. Just watching the game play here, I dont think I want to drop money on it when I'm not immediately sold. Especially with a sub to play when it wouldnt ever be my main game. just something to play casually between games.

    Scores PS5 for Christmas this year, such a beefy machine, and I get to play helldivers and bloodborne again.
    I stopped playing FF14 about when the samurai and ninja class dropped, and now there's even more content to chew through past that.

The story is good for the most part, though I cant enjoy it anymore due to the time bubble. Im not a fan of the community in most regards though there are a few decent people out there. The game does have a ton of content but the modern content formula that SE has been going with is…not good in my opinion. Yes the game is certainly worth a playthrough, but it’s not the best game ever. I personally think Dragon Quest X is far more enjoyable but thats my own subjective opinion.

      That said, popular addons are: Advanced Combat Tracker (basicly allows you to record your dps and other battle related stuff, but if u talk about it in chat it can be risky), G-shade (basicly gives you option to setup shaders and slightly improve the graphics)
