    Personally I think the Pony-O looked worse than the hair tie and everything about it seemed harder and more annoying.

    I honestly love mine. I have thin hair and it makes my ponytail look a lot fuller. I’ve been using it for a while and initially I couldn’t get a sleek ponytail but I can now and I love it even more. My ponytails look so sad without it lol

  • @kar4jax432

    This thing looks like a pain! Who wants to spend 5 minutes sliding this non stretchy band thru their hair and then bending it over and under- no! No thank you! I can grab a regular hair elastic and wrap it around my hair in literally 3 seconds!

  • @drtimbs2023
    @drtimbs2023 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    I love my Pony-O. The trick is to spread your hair out the entire length of it when it is still mashed down flat and then circle it downward. That makes the pointy tail look thicker and it helps it stay secure and not pull on your hair. Keeping the hair bunched in the center when bending it down makes it look and feel bad. My hair is thinning and this has made my ponytails look like normal pony’s instead of a pitiful rat tail. I even wear mine swimming and sometimes to bed and it holds great in the water and wallowing all over the bed.

    I don’t recommend the pony o to anyone, it’s a gimmick! I never use mine. It makes your pony tale look weird on the sides because you don’t have much control over how your hair falls.

    How can you tell that your baby hairs are new growth and not breakage? Just curious because i don"t know the difference

  • @jia.wang4942
    @jia.wang4942 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Ok, to be honest, I’m a fan of Pony O, and I get it might not be everybody’s cup of tea. I agree the silicon band is not easy to be strapped around the wrist and carried everywhere. However, I usually use the thinner band and do a half updo, and it lasts me the whole day without taking it off. It does really “bulk up” my ponytail than the regular coiled hair tie. And yes, it definitely gives a very clean, professional look, especially when I put some hair spray on before I comb my hair through so no baby hair is flying on my face when I wear my mask and the face shield in the clinic. I like it for that reason and will continue to purchase the product. 😊I do wish they provide free shipping but the second time I bought 6 of them, so 4.99 is not so bad for the shipping fee.

    The best holding ponytail elastic are the ones that are open ended with a little “fish hook” on each end. You wrap it around and hook the ends in to itself so you get a nice grip. I don’t think either of these items are very attractive nor do they make a very nice hairstyle!

  • @iamstass
    @iamstass 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    Gosh, these seem like a waste of money! I don't often do buns but if I did, the foamy mesh donut one is the way I would go. They seem fool proof to use and they're super affordable!

  • @valarya

    I don't think it's necessary for people with light/thin hair like you... the fact you could wrap that crinkly one around 4 times blew my mind, lol. But the Pony-O is AMAZING for people with long thick hair (like me). I can barely wrap those crinkly hairbands around twice, my hair is so thick. Straight. Heavy. Thick. Long. Unable to hold curl of any sort. Can't hold volume. This thing is a MIRACLE worker for people with my kind of hair. I always appreciate your reviews... and am glad you remind people what hair type you have. :)

    Thank you for this honest review! I fell for their marketing in fb and even though I'm not at all the impulsive buyer I somehow just went for it. Luckily I saw this video in a few hours and decided to make a cancellation request just in time so you saved my 44$ (shipping was not cheap either). The main reason I avoid ponytails altogether is the constant headache they give me right from when I was a little girl. So as soon as you said headache I knew this wasn't the gamble for me! Don't know why I didn't think of looking at reviews outside of the pony-o website / fb page BEFORE placing the order. Silly me!

    hmmm, i don't think it would work with my hair, because I have soooo much and it's long so I would need the "strechiness" of hairties to fit everything in ... + my fringe would fall out like your new hairgrowth ... And for me not having hair in my face is the whole point of having it up !! So ... not convinced at all.
    I always love your honest reviews and seeing you testing things out at the gym !

    I use the last accessory for making a bun, but I use it another way - I make a ponytail with a normal ribbon, then I put a bun maker on and pull it almost to the end of a ponytail, then I start rolling it inside out through my ponytail and my hair rolls around a bun maker. Then I hide it with my hair and use some pins to secure the ready bun. The result is not very smooth and a little messy but it looks good for everyday life. The longer the hair is, the more volume the bun has. And it can’t be done in such a way with the hair shorter then shoulders. (Sorry my English)

    Excellent example how NOT to use these products.
    I have to wear my hair in a bun for work and the ballerina bun requires the hair to be too tight, creating a headache.. whereas the bun bar doesn’t… unless you fail to use pony-o first, or make pony-o too tight by folding in too close like in the above video. Bun bar is the fastest, cleanest, most professional looking hair product on the market if you need a clean bun that does NOT create headaches… unless misused. 🤦‍♀️
    Trust me, my appearance is part of my job.

    Another way that I use the mesh bun maker, is that I'll use it like a roller. I'll actually do a pony tail, take the bun maker pull the hair through, slide it to the ends of the hair, and roll the hair over the mesh and at the end slide the hair around to make the perfect bun. My hairdresser complimented me on how perfect it looked. No pins just the pony holder and the bun maker. ❤

    I wish I would’ve seen this before I ordered the Pony-O. I hate the dang thing. Doesn’t work well in my thin hair, hard to get a sleek pony, and gives me a headache too.

    Love the tutorial. Is there any chance you can do an easy version half up with volume. I think it is kind of everyday look for office girls. We need itttttt. Many thanks.

    I've been wanting to try the Pony-O. I have really thick long wavy hair. Nothing holds my hair very well.

    Ur so pretty !
    But this accesories are so difficults ! You lost precious time, while a messy bun with an elastic is so fast and simple...🙄
    Not really convinced🤷

    I think you may have a typo in the description: "creating...withOUT ease", but that seems to be the truth lol.

    Thank you for this post. I have a pony o on order. I’m thinking I’ll tease my hair a little and use some hairspray first before using the pony o.

    I guess I’ve been in the dark, when did we start using the bracelet things that hold keys (so you don’t loose it) as a pony tail holder?

      The cat takes all my bunge ties ... anything not meant for him 😸

      Yeah its a weird trend. I felt the same way about the elasticky ribbon tie style hair ties, but my hair loves em,lol.

    I get headache too, from too tight pony tails, or as tight headband.

    Yeah, the pony o doesn't look that great with your baby fine hair. I have a couple of pony-o's and they look pretty good. I don't get a head ache at all. It looks like your bun maker idea is better than the pony o bun thing.... Your hair is just pretty fine and sleek. I think when your hair gets longer, the pony o will look better on you.

    I’ve been using the Sarah Potempa (now renamed The Beachwaver Co.) “Wrap Up” for years and swear by it. It makes a perfect bun every time because I can’t. 😂

      I should add that I saw you use it on loose hair in the video, but I usually put my hair in a ponytail first (more secure and control) and THEN use the Wrap Up.
