You ARE an excellent teacher, and very pleasant to listen to. Some of the knitting vid hosts I've come across have some very harsh annoying voices. I could listen to you all day. I've learnt so much from you already. You've made me much more fearless in my knitting. Thank you Cheryl.

Thank you Wendi. You are very kind, and yes . . . there are some TH-cam hosts (in all different subjects, not just knitting) that I find difficult to listen to. Have you joined my email newsletter group at cherylbrunette.com yet? If not, please consider joining us. That's where I give lots of good information and keep in closest touch with knitters.

I hadn't, but I have now joined your list. You're quite right about not getting too stressed about mistakes, and I can now look at my knitting and see the pattern/stitches and where the mistake is. That's not to say I haven't had to rip it down now and then because of only noticing the mistake rows and rows later, but, hey ho! I've been knitting like a demon lately for my latest grandchild, due mid September.

Definitely useful information! I have only recently started making things in pieces since getting a knitting machine - which I totally love - so I'm glad for the reminder about the importance of selvedge stitches. I also worked in a yarn store for three years and, yes, the first thing we always did was check the numbers whenever somebody had a problem! It's always some little typo or miscount somewhere by someone - either knitter or publisher - that trips us up!

Hi Cheryl, thanks for the videos, they’re so useful and helpful! Which selvedge stitch do you use for the sweater seams out of your slipped stitch or single stitch options?

Thanks for the reminder about simply changing edge stitches to selvages. I learned the hard way before I started to think more logically.

You're welcome Mary. Until we establish some sort of standard (which may never happen) it's a "knitter beware" environment. And thank you, as always, for taking the time to comment.

Thanks for another great tip. One question: would you make that first and last stitch part of the numbers in the stitch pattern, or would you just make those plain knit or pearl, and then start the numbers in the stitch pattern? Does this make sense?
PS. I am one of your biggest fans and I love to add these tips to any machine knitting as well.

Thanks for this question Beverly. It's a good one and one I had meant to address in the video but forgot. I always make the selvedge sts simple stockinette, knit on the right side and purl on the wrong. And thank you for you kind comment.

Yes she is - my favourite alongside Susan Guagliumi, they are the top in their field. This despite the fact that I am a (new) machine knitter, and Cheryl mostly handknits, I have learned so much from her and extremely happy to have found this channel 😍
