I would love to see more DJI Mavic Mini videos, because I am planning on getting one, and also over ocean flight with the 4g mod Parrot DISCO. But anything that you make is amazing!

Love this drone. Half my droning is over water so I like its waterproof and ability to land on water. I am going to wait for it to mature a little bit.
Dustin you are one lucky dude to be able to fly outdoors, in my area the flying spaces are padlocked and I'm getting very bored using flight simulators while I'm quarantined to stay indoors.
Noticed that for the price, camera is not as great as something like the mavic air 2, but pretty good considering all the other amazing features that it has, awesome !
hello Dustin i liked your video it helpt me a lot. I discoverd one thing during your video that did looked up regarding my training because i wanted to know the answer to that. The Obsticale avoidance and return to home function failure you experienced during the making of your video is related to the disturbance of the surroundings that influence the promimity sensor.
With a proximity sensor, the drone gets more functions and you can fly more safely. Most proximity sensors are ultrasonic. These sensors work best on hard surfaces such as concrete. Grass can absorb the signal and make the proximity sensor less effective. Maybe you know it by now but i thought i should let you know.

I could be totally out to lunch on this but the drone I have seems to be much more accurate on return to home with the use of a landing pad. When I activate RTH it will tell me if it sees the landing pad or not when it gets close and then adjusts accordingly. It would be interesting to see if your landing pad makes a difference.
Nicely laid out display. The standard features are Excellent. Although there is some skip in view, i am sure that further upgrades will correct this.

This is a multi platform product that has many functions not found on any other. Hand held Video Cam & Camera; Quad Copter with a fully waterproof shell and floats.
Which other Manufacturer can even match this, no one.
The Egg is the perfect shape and so its name says it PowerEgg X .
Lastly over 20 minutes flight time is not bad.

Thank you for your extensive demonstration. Out of curiosity I’m wondering which release of the APP you’re running? I had an email from the Euro Support yesterday to let me know they’d just released an update to fix the frame dropping issue when shooting 4K@60FPS. I’ve found it to be a big improvement but it’s still dropping on average 4FPS. Interestingly I’m not seeing the same issue when using it as a handicam which leads me to think that the flight stabilisation and image processing are using common components of the overall processing chain.
The issue with the map is frustrating. I’ve found if you repeatedly tap the little map circle eventually it spawns to full screen, after that you can switch between the map and video with a single press. I’ve not had the opportunity to really stress the flight performance due to bad weather and then the lockdown here in the UK. I do think the lack of accuracy in RTH is due to the lack of a visible ground target. When I tested it myself using a blue ground sheet (see my vid on my channel) the accuracy was quite remarkable.
You’re not the only one to experience the deformed rear end due to the battery issue, I saw another YT reviewer had the same issue.

First of all, you should do a range test. Also, how do you make all of this money for drones? I am a kid and am just getting into drones, but I am broke.
he makes money from youtube, he may have a job also (not sure). but many companies will send him drones to test and do reviews on. he don't always get to keep them but i'm sure some he does.

I just found out about this drone and really wanted to like it. It seems like it has really neat features but it's still rough around the edges. Kinda hard to take the plunge when I could have a Mavic Air 2 for a bit less

Good call cancelling. Everyone coming in is required to quarantine for 14 days inside. Best to postpone all travel 👍

Dustin, never thought of this till now, but I wonder if you did any of the quick shots, focused on your self and moved several feet to the left, right, forward or backward if it would still follow or track you? Just curious... Also, I'm curious about the payload weight... Mahalo as always for your info-vids.

I have a 4k TV and that does not look like 4k, also that does not look stable when the gimble is moving. Did you compress the video?
I like the versatility of the drone and all its different functions, but its a turnoff to see that it has hiccups in the video and/or frame drops with higher FPS. We'll see if it is an update away from a fix. Thanks for this one Dustin. Stay safe!!!

When you get a chance, could you test the imagery and video quality on a clear day. I have seen other reviews that claim the imagery and video quality seem to be sub par to almost unuseable unless it's only for TH-cam. Some even claim that the imagery and video is better when used as a hand held vs when in drone mode! I did notice some blurriness and I'm hoping that can be fixed with a Firmware update.
Maybe compare imagery and video with another drone, not the Mavic 2 Pro exclusively since that has that 1 inch sensor.
Looking forward to the waterproof review!
It's hard to judge the video quality when TH-cam applies compression but it doesn't seem to be great when compared to others you have reviewed.
Thanks for the review. I like the functions of this drone, however many many times in the video there were what looked like frame drops on the sd card recorded video.

I prefer my 2019 bebop2 (bebop2 power sold as a bebop2), because I like to fly fpv and have fun doing loops and rolls... (no other current drones are doing it).
I've been wanting a good FPV done and keep going back to the Bebop 2 Power.

Well, having a drone "self-destruct" if you leave the discharging battery in it isn't a good sign. Something like that should have been caught in product development. The stuttering at 4K 60FPS is terrible. That's another thing which should have been ironed out prior to release. Some of the flight modes seemed to work okay at least. Perhaps, if/when they send you a replacement, it will function better. You were pretty "socially distanced" out there on Maui. I know that Hawaii gets a lot of Asian visitors, so perhaps that's how it got transmitted there. Most of the Midwest on the mainland has had only light exposure. As an example, in my entire county, there have only been 30 confirmed cases & no fatalities. In the entire state of Ohio, there have only been 1400 confirmed cases, with 25 deaths (which is far, far less than the regular Flu). I'm thinking that there will be a "soft startup", at least in the continental States. Places which have been lightly impacted may be allowed to restart businesses, with some restrictions. Other "hot spots", may have to endure being shut in for some time longer. Hope everything goes okay out there on the islands. Mahalo!
That video pausing almost looks as if its caused by processor overloading when its running calculations doing the person tracking. Was it video pausing when you were just in normal flight mode?
Seems there is a focus problem in the center of image, very similar to Phantom 3.
I noticed that also. Always a little blurry in the center unfortunately.

You may not be thrilled with video quality of either. If you only want aerial video I'd get a Dji Mini 1 or 2 drone and learn to fly well on land before boat use. Just keep it dry and in low wind 🙂👍.
thats kinda scary with the battery. I always take mine out but I've only had cheap drones so far. Does this problem exist with the Mavic Mini?

I've had mine for 2 months now and the camera is of poor quality, my Mavic Mini actually has a better camera. My RTH seems to work fine, usually within a few inches

Are you sure about that 1 m/s is 2.2 mph so 31 m/s would be 69 mph. But 31 ft./s is 21 mph 47 ft./s is 32 mph
