Homelander is the perfect villain for this show. You can never be quite sure what he's thinking or what he's going to do. And since he has the power to do whatever he wants that makes him very dangerous.
Fun Fact :- Seth and Evan, the "marketing" guys who pitched Starlight the "ho" uniform, are actually named after,.......you guessed it.......Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg..... ....who are producing the show (and they also produce Preacher on AMC). Just a little inside joke. (...which I'm sure both Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg were in on. There are other inside jokes in coming episodes that even Seth Rogan at least will be in on).

Idk if anyone’s mentioned this to you but the actor who plays Homelander is Antony Starr. I 1st saw him in another show called Banshee which is a completely different look from Homelander. In Banshee, his character becomes the sherif of a small town and he’s bad ass. His look, the way he walks, the way he talks, & he’s sexyAF! If you loath to like him as Homelander, you will love to lust him as Lucas Hood. I think lot would love this show.

He's actually a parody of both Bruce Wayne as well as Tony Stark sort of merged into one since he technically doesn't have any powers, he's just a guy that dons on a technological exosuit and has a ton of gadgets and weaponry in his arsenal, plus he's filthy rich enough to manufacture all those toys that allows him to fight alongside big league "supes." Unfortunately, the show doesn't explore his character arc from the comics at all, only peripherally mentioning his name in an upcoming scene where a support group meets of people who have been hurt by super-powered individuals and one of the attendants mentions how Tech Knight injured her spine in the process of rescuing her. Fun fact, the guy you both laughed at @ 03:00 (the marketing guy who was pitching StarLight's new costume to her) is another one of the attendees there and he'll share his own horror story that I'm sure will make you both either laugh again or make a grimacing face, or perhaps some combination of both. Either way, it'll make for a great reaction shot lol. Looking forward to seeing your ensuing episode reactions!

They take the fantastical superhero tropes but then really explore the grey areas of how People cope with this world. I have hope for Maeve.
