Not controversial at all. It's the only way to insulate a curved metal roof without running into interstitial damp issues. The only problem is we've been quoted €12,000 to get it sprayed....
@@blimpism I've looked into getting the kits and they end up being €11,000. I'm exploring the possibility of getting it from somewhere else in the EU (Hungary) where hopefully it'll be much cheaper.
Thank goodness you had extra help. I’m sure your father and you could’ve handled it, but I feel better for the both of you that you have an additional body. Thank you for sharing.❤
Absolutely love seeing you and your father working together Rich. Work you have all done in such a short time is amazing, the best part is seeing old century+ old buildings having life breathed into them again. Can't wait until next episode Mr & Mrs Rich. ❤
Wow! Great work fellas! Those steel beams will make for a sound second floor of your barn conversion project into a new home. When the main house is rebuilt that barn home will make great guest house for the parents to stay in when they visit you and the kids or you could turn it into vacation rental space to offset living expenses or additional builds.
It is very sturdy, i was storing 25mm sheets of ply on it without any problems. I have since got a 30mm thick sheet of rigid insulation that goes on top that prevents the track saw from damaging it.
Soz about about our GoPro died so we were left with only the drone. Obviously we had to keep it way out of the way but unfortunately that meant everything was hard to make out.
I’d love to understand why it’s easier or better (or cheaper?) to focus on restoring and renovating the barn to live in, rather than just do the main building which is where you were ideally going to live anyway. Or am I wrong about that? Not a criticism! I’d just love to understand the thinking behind it. Thanks!
Hello Erink thanks for the question! It all comes down to money, renovating the barn will be about 1/3 of the cost to renovate the main house. We realised that when we discovered that we had to replace the entire roof on the big house that we wouldn't have enough money to complete the project whilst also renting another house. So we decided to renovate the barn into temporary accommodation with no bells and whistles which will reduce our monthly living costs by allowing us to move in and live on site. Hope that helps to explain everything 👍
@ ah ok! Yes that makes total sense. I must have missed the vid talking about the whole roof replacement. Thanks so much for explaining. I guess also living in the barn means you’re living on site too and while that could be stressful, it will making travelling to work or working into the evening or after dinner/homework times etc a lot easier! I grew up in a house that my dad renovated while we lived on site and I know that it made it easier for my mum and dad to have a family and also build their dream house. Love the videos. I’m learning so much in a construction sense. Thanks for sharing!
Controversial...but that roof is crying out for closed-cell sprayed foam insulation.

@moulinroche There are kits available to DIY, but temperature is vital for the component tanks. £12k is excessive 😬

@@blimpism Also you're right about the tanks, they need to be kept above 24⁰C when they're used

What a cool building, it’s going to make a character filled home.
And a home filled with characters🙂
Je vous regarde toujours avec autant d'admiration. Quel travail!

Making some good progress! DId you get your work visa thing worked out so you can make some money in France?
Thanks Debbie! Unfortunately, I am still waiting for my work permit. That makes it 30 months and waiting now....
@moulinrocheMay it arrive soon!
@moulinroche that is so frustrating! Will be praying you get it soon.
The camera was far away from the the walls. I could not see what was happening.
Say,Hi Charlie....
Soz about about our GoPro died so we were left with only the drone. Obviously we had to keep it way out of the way but unfortunately that meant everything was hard to make out.
May I suggest to use the Kubota, and place the camera on it? . Perhaps with a magnet or a strap?@moulinroche
@@y.lelivelt2619 that's a good suggestion however the drone is the size of the dinner plate so it can only sit on a large flat surface
