This video will give you an understanding of what a conveyor take-up unit is and how to inspect and adjust it to keep your conveyor system running smoothly. This video also demonstrates how to properly remove a portion of the conveyor chain when necessary.

Great job, might i suggest you add in opening, showing it being used.
Agreed

removing a section of worn chain to shorten the chain does not take out wear. the remaining chain is still worn, and will wear the drive sprockets. the pitches have worn, and are longer. stretch (due to loading) is different than wear due to long use.
Hi Shawn, you are correct. Chains grow due to wear AND elongation due to loading. Removing a piece of chain will allow the resetting of the take-up, which will prevent the future longer chain from jamming inside the track (because it has nowhere to go). A take-up unit that is at its fullest travel will not be able to stretch out the lengthening chain. At that point, the chain would “jam” inside the track.
of course I am correct. However, the vid did not specify if this was new chain or old worn chain. If a chain (industrial power transmission or conveyor ) has elongated by 3%, it is time to replace the entire chain. ..not take out pitches.
