      Thank you for the correction! When I was recording, I didn't have the prices on hand and was going by memory. I must have been thinking of the 12 color selection. The price has gone up since I originally bought it, but I checked my original invoice and it was $13.98 at the time of purchase. I'm glad you commented so people know. Thank you!

      The prices on these fluctuate. You can find them sometimes anywhere from $6 to $14 depending on whether they’re on the daily sale or have a coupon.

      If ppl are being honest, Even if they were $50 they are worth it. They aren't watercolors. They aren't inks. They aren't graphitints, but whatever they are they are worth it.
      Also, if we aren't lying to ourselves, everything is made in China. So why pay more based on where the distributor is.

    The rice paper looked fine. Rice paper lacks sizing ao it's best to use with paints designed for rice paper, which usually contain animal glue as binder. Examples would be Japanese Gansai or Chinese paints, like Marie's (not the watercolor).

    I was absolutely shocked by that is Watercolor’s myself. I wasn’t expecting much for the price point or from where I was getting them from, and they are absolutely stunning and granulate beautifully as well. These paints Watercolor’s act just like my top professional water colours they are insanely beautiful, despite how they are packaged.

    • @KateMilesArt
      @KateMilesArt  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yes, I was surprised too! I originally got them because I thought it looked like a nice earthy palette. And they aren't really metallic except a couple, so if someone is looking for that, they should keep looking. Haha but it worked perfectly for me that it wasn't glittery. Thank you for watching!

    I got a set of these paints and was blown away at their intensity. They were a fab find and have ordered several more sets. They say they’re glittery, but I haven’t found it to be an issue. Also, you might try a sumo-e bamboo brush with the rice paper. And Posca white pens seem to stay more opaque

    I’ve seen this watercolor set all over Amazon lately. Some listings say it’s supposed to be Gouache or like an opaque watercolor. Asian and western watercolors have a lot of differences, especially these cheaper sets. There’s some excellent Asian brands making watercolors but these mass produced ones are always hit or miss. The colors are lovely though. Nice earth tones.

    • @KateMilesArt
      @KateMilesArt  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I love your username!! 😄 This watercolor set is different than others I've used. It almost feels like a different product, which someone else commented and I agree with. It spreads but doesn't spread, it's transparent but also sort of opaque, it seems to granulate. It doesn't like to move much after it dries. It has been very interesting to play with and I actually bought it because of those nice earth tones. The colors go wonderfully together and are very rich looking. The pans wet nicely and the paint becomes kind of thick, almost like a gouache. It's worth a try if you're looking to experiment with something new! You might just fall in love. Happy creating! One thing I think I noted in the video too is that they do not appear metallic on paper much at all, even though they are sold that way. Which was fine with me, I actually didn't notice that in the description when I purchased them so I wasn't disappointed.

    I'm on my second bottle of the gold paint from Temu. It's extremely versatile... I am finding so many uses for it.. I mix it to watercolor for a shimmery golden tint as well as an overlay shimmer for a bit of bling on my holiday card and tag painting. It's also incredible to use as a final splatter which adds the perfect magical final touch . VERY shimmery. Love it!

      @KateMilesArt  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi! Yes, I actually purchased a set of Artistro not long after this video. I do like those pens. Some of the paint pens with the fine tips have a kind of scratchy feel against the paper which can be a challenge, but if I try to be careful with the direction of my drawing, it works better. The Artistro pens have a great color selection too, I got the 12-color set. Thank you for the tip!

      @@KateMilesArt You should try it, there are 2 versions "Academy" which is deemed student grade and then the ordinary professional versions, you can get them in Smooth Hot Press (Usually red/pink cover), Cold Press (Green cover) and Rough which is Yellow/Orange cover. The professional version are much deeper coloured covers but the Academy range is superb to paint on and it is genuine 300gsm 100% cotton and a lot cheaper than the equivalent papers here in Ireland/UK. A s a fairly new person to watercolours i may not be the best to comment but i find it great to work with and i have used some very expensive papers in the past One last thing, i love the glued blocks and just buy those now. Love your videos, i learn a lot just by watching 🥰

      Thank you so much for the tips, I'll have to try a couple different Baohong papers! I have used Arches and I own some, but my usual go-to because of cost savings is the Bee watercolor paper, which is also 100% cotton. I've recently tried New York Central cotton watercolor paper sold at Jerry's Artarama and I've really enjoyed that too. I've just picked up two new brands (for me) at Jerry's, Masters Choice and Fluid 100, but I haven't tried those yet. I'm excited to 😀 I'm so glad you like my videos, and thank you for watching! @KateMilesArt Raw is completely not sized, absorb and spreeds better. Medium raw and mature are sized. In my experience, if you want more details, less spreed, try matured paper. It is easier to enter the world of rice paper using matured rice paper. As you gain more and more experience, you can use any of them, depending on your needs. They all have their own advantage.

    I bought thise markers from amazon they were terrible!!! They leaked everywher!!! I returned them, dont know if they were just a faulty set hopefully yours will be ok. Ive seen loads ofvreviews on those paints and EVERYONE has said they are NOT metalic!!! Even though it says they are

    • @KateMilesArt
      @KateMilesArt  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, the paints definitely were not metallic on the page! Funny for me, I actually missed that in the description when I bought them originally, so I was happy they weren't! 😂 The markers didn't leak for me, but the fluid was pretty thin, so they might with continued use. I think the black and white paint markers were like some others I've used, but I got another brand locally that leaked terribly for me. I made a video of it when I did a pen and marker video from Hobby Lobby and Dollar Tree a few weeks back. Overall, most things were interesting to use, some were OK, and I actually liked the watercolors a lot, but if I had purchased them expecting metallic, I would have been very disappointed!

    The use of forced labor just isn’t worth it. I’d rather do without or pay more.

    • @KateMilesArt
      @KateMilesArt  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +11

      Thank you for your comment. I was not aware there was talk about Temu specifically with forced labor/exploitation. Although I cannot say I am surprised, given that today's consumer has a just about impossible task of choosing any product at all that isn't produced using some form of exploitation, let alone any real knowledge of the source of anything they purchase. It seems to be baked into the global supply chain and if your statement about Temu is true, it is a symptom of a much larger global problem. The world's favorite brands of coffee, chocolate, clothing brands that use cotton, makeup, and even building materials, raw natural resources, and agricultural products, have had reports of using exploited labor. It is particularly alarming when you read the US Department of Labor's List of Goods Produced by Child Labor or Forced Labor, which had a total of 467 goods and raw materials produced in 78 countries. I think it is very admirable to seek sources that do not use exploited labor, and if you can share some brands here that you've researched, more folks can gain awareness. Thank you again for your comment!

      It appeas they get businesses in razor sharp margins to break even but then increase price... so they later mak $ after being more well known. If temu pffers discount or coupon its to get a new customer/buy. I think it will improve but US allows it and China too. We see exposes on fashion & China too. They charge $17/item but brand western resell $2k. @@KateMilesArt
