Porsche Cayenne Cornering Bulb Replacement

  • My dad and I replace the front left cornering light bulb in his Porsche Cayenne S. The part number for the bulb is 900-631-126-90 and was around $25 at the dealer we got it from. The tool for removing the headlight is in the trunk next to the spare tire but if you do not have the tool you'll need a 6mm socket, extension and ratchet to remove the headlight. I also used needle nose pliers to remove the ground connection to the bulb, a long screwdriver to hold the bulb in place while installing the hold down clips and I also used electrical tape on the ground wires to cover the exposed copper because the wire insulation was brittle and falling apart in one section of the wire.

Great video I just did this but you actually don't have to remove the ground. One less thing to unplug and plug in since it's fairly cramped in there. Just pop off the two metal hooks and swap out the bulb. Took like 5mins.

Thanks for showing the new bulb I’ve just spent most of the afternoon trying to get the bulb out of the brass bracket thinking “what a rubbish design “ Of course ,it’s now bent and broken and I’m left thinking “this can’t be right “
Checked the internet, found your video and seen the new bulb comes with the bracket. Would have saved a lot of time if I saw your video first. Live and learn . . live and learn.

I notice the Headlight assembly is Valeo, are you happy with them? The internal wiring is shot, I just ordered a set as Porsche Dealership wanted over $3000.00 for a OEM. My Cayenne is a 2006 twin turbo. Great video, thank you.

They've been working with no problem for years now. My step mom also drives a cayenne and I noticed her headlight assemblies are also Valeo haha. So both the Cayenne's my parents drive had Valeo headlights when we purchased them and have no issues besides just changing bulbs out when needed.

@@kamalakeel Thank you very much for the prompt reply, I live in Bahrain with pretty extreme weather conditions, I'm lucking they lasted as long as they have. Great price from RockAuto, mailing was a 100 bucks! Thanks again, Sincerely, Charles

Great video, I hope that w30 Mobil is not for your Cayenne V8. Outside North America Porsche specify a 40 weight and Mobil 1 0w40. 30 weight oil isn't strong enough.

OverlandTT thanks for the comment, and the 5w30 is for one of my other cars but that’s a good observation haha.

cam2k these older cayennes have a lot of issues with the headlights. It’s kind of a poor design how they just push into the connectors as well. Are you saying the wiring on the headlight itself is deteriorating? If it’s really bad you should check out pelican parts, they have cheaper replacements for the headlight assemblies.

You bought a bulb from the Porsche dealer? You must have money to burn, as they at least 1/2 that price anywhere else and its not as if Porsche make bulbs!
