You Built A Greenhouse. Now What?

  • My backyard greenhouse is 6' x 8', made with scrap wood and 14 gauge welded wire supported by 1 1/2 inch PVC water pipe (of which we have an abundant supply). The plastic is 6 mil that I ordered especially for this project.
So now I built it....what do I do with it? That is what I'm learning and share in this video.
We dream of fresh tomatoes, corn and other summery vegetables straight from the garden. If you have ever had a backyard garden you know that it's a lot of work. I often think of the children's story "The Little Red Hen" when I hear myself grumbling about how much work this gardening thing is. I want the freshness without all the effort. HA. Isn't that what farmer's markets are popular?
"If we plant this wheat, we shall have bread to eat" Says the Little Red Hen "Who will help me plant it?" "Not I," said the cow. "Not I," said the duck." and on it on it goes. She does it all herself and then shares it.
I don't even like vegetables all that much. LOL
While our garden beds were but a dream I experimented with gardening under plastic this winter. I , who have never had a proper greenhouse before, decided to jump in.
Inspired by youtubers, I built a simple , hoop style greenhouse and decided to grow my garden from seed. I naively thought you just put stuff in there water it and , you know, it just grows. Right?
Sort of. There's a little more to it. Watch to see what I learned.

What crazy hot one day, cold the next weather we are having! I think I have the greenhouse thing figured out...at least I haven't killed anything lately and stuff is growning! How about you?

I haven’t planted anything yet( about 17 miles north of Dayton Ohio here) because I was always taught the mothers day rule by my grandma. Never plant before Mothers day lol. I have a history of killing off just about everything I ever planted except for bulb plants that come up every year I do good with irises and some hostas. As far as trying to grow anything edible....... I will live vicariously through your videos and continue to buy them at Kroger’s LOL

Lol. The best reason to grown your own from seed ? Kroger doesn't sell most of what I've planted. Not the same variety anyway. But your way is cheaper. I have alot of veggies in the ground now and they are thriving but the rain has turned my newly tilled 'corn' field into a bog!
