The Leclerc/Hamilton dynamic is going to be a fascinating one to watch. Here we have a 7-time world champion who is coming to Ferrari chasing his 8th world title as well as a talented driver who has been the poster boy for the Scuderia for 5 years now and is still chasing his first world title. Ferrari better be prepared to juggle this pairing in the coming years, it is a recipe for fireworks imo.

I predict Lewis will get all the focus. They paid for him, and Leclerc will always be there in 2029, in their eyes.
They have dropped countless golden boys before - even arguably Shumacher - for a shiny new driver that can "fix all their problems" - same with raikkonen, Alonso, Vettel before Charles.

Eh. At the very least it's not too outlandish to assume RBR will be among the first to switch focus to next year(or 2026 pretty much as soon as they can), as they have the most comfortable spot on the grid. Do I think it's likely anyone but Max wins this year (and probably the next)? No. But bigger upsets have happened in this sport.
And while the last race might have been an outlier, I do think RBR's performance advantage keeps shrinking.

Brings a lot of experience in developing a winning car that Ferrari very much need+ he brings engineers with him(directly or indirectly). There is a still a very excellent driver there, I don’t get where this doom and gloom about him comes from. "The team" did not sign Sir Lewis Hamilton, this was all James Elkann's doing, publicly humiliating and deballing Vasseur, by going over his head.
Sir Lewis Hamilton has one goal and one goal only (hint: it is not "driving FOR Ferrari"). Had he won his eighth title in Abu Dhabi '21 he would have retired and all would have been hunky-dory... for Hamilton, for Russell and indeed for Mercedes. As Stephen Hendry said during the Snooker World Championship recently when asked what was driving him back then (and Ronnie O'Sullivan now), "I just had to beat Steve Davis' record of six world championships. Otherwise, what's the point? I would be just another dude with six titles." This is how true champions are wired. Not for all the money in the world would Hamilton have signed a contract that does not have his #1 status set in stone with a guarantee from Elkann that the whole team, including their #2 driver, will be doing their damnedest FOR Hamilton to help him achieve his goal because Sir Lewis does not want to be just another dude with seven titles.

Next year if Ferrari cars are running 1 and 2 in a race and the team asks for a swap of position I cant see whoever has to fall back will do so. 2 alpha drivers has never worked. Senna vs Prost and Hamilton vs Rosburg where things got so bad both garages stopped sharing data and debriefs had to be done separately. I can see me doing a lot of fingernail chewing in 2025.

If Ferrari expects drivers to be “all about the team”, they first need to work on having a team that’s worth being all about. Otherwise that approach is just talk and you’re never going to get drivers, and the egos that naturally come with them, truly on board.

So either it lit a fire under him or he was sandbagging for w/e reason. Either way, there was no real way Ferrari were ever going to get this type of performance out of him. I'm not sure hiring Hamilton is Ferrari admitting they don't have confidence in Leclerc.
Ferrari leadership has changed a bit since they hired him, so it'd be fair to assume goals have shifted. And while Binotto may have planned to build a team around Leclerc Vasseur may now have decided to do so with around Hamilton.
I would also like to argue that the "call of Ferrari" goes both ways. Plenty of drivers will jump at the chance, even to the point of damaging their long-term careers, for the honour of driving in Red.
By the same token I can imagine having heard the "call of Hamilton" as soon as they realised that 1) he was available, 2) was willing to drive for them.
Based on current results Hamilton may look a bit washed, but he's still a 7-time world champion and that carries a lot of weight.
So hiring Hamilton is not necessarily a vote of no confidence in Leclerc, but merely a change of course, while dealing with the cards they were dealt.

First off, Lewis has NEVER played the team game in his 17 year career, I dont see it changing now. Ultimatley the Hamilton-to-Ferrari move will almost certainly prove itself to be short-lived, the downfall of Ferrari, and/or the downfall of Hamilton. If John Ekan insists on keeping Hamilton with the team for more than 2 years, and the proverbial tiger hasn't changed his stripes, then it will almost certainly mean the firing of Fred Vasseur, LeClerc going elsewhere, and Bearman looking for other ways in to F1... Basically see Alpine.
Secondly (and more importantly) Lewis did NOT cause the huge increase in value of Ferrari, the annoucement came at the same time as their (very solid) earnings call; AKA when their value was expected to massively increase with or without the Lewis announcement. Yes, he brings market value to the team; but nowhere near the $7B/10% figure the media reported... I mean, their pre-EBITDA profit growth was projected at $2.64B, and that alone should have (conservatively) caused a ~$5.38-6.6B market increase; and their order-book was overflowing... I'd estimate that his news actually ammounted to $100M at most for the brand.

I honestly believe Mr. Vasseur to be a gentleman (there’s not many in this sport) and to be as sharp as the proverbial knife. So much so, that if he had any initial input whatsoever regarding the decision to sign Hamilton, I will buy a (huge and unpalatable) hat just to eat it. For the main reason you make here I honestly think signing Hamilton has to be a mistake of massive proportions. If you look closely at the team we are already seeing the cracks this decision inevitably caused. That’s not to mention Sainz being in place for a season knowing he’s surplus to requirements. Leclerc’s confidence has been irreparably damaged and his (this) season, with regard to what it could have been, will prove finished because he no longer knows where he fits at Ferrari.
I respect Hamilton for his amazing talent, for anyone honest, it’s actually impossible not to do so. As a person, he is an altogether different beast. One I have zero time for. Hamilton drives for one person and one person only. He only involves the team when playing the blame game.
I can’t see anyway all the other individuals coming to Ferrari will enjoy any immediate success. Perhaps if they are there long term, they can be a part of the rebuild required once Hamilton completes the damage his signing will cause and retires.
Ferrari will be paying for this poor decision for some time to come and not just by way of Hamilton’s ambassadorial and charity obligations.

    Ferrari will likely screw Charles.
They've done it before many times for new shiny toys - look at Raikkonen, Massa, Alonso, and Vettel. Hell, even Shumacher partially was pushed out of his seat.
Ferrari will throw all their stuff to Lewis, and Lewis has his own team coming in too which will absolutely be supporting his side.
They want Lewis to have number 8 with them, to bring glory to both parties at once.
Charles can always wait until 2029, in their eyes.

Leclerc definitely is one of the best drivers on the grid, but his inconsistency and tendency to make mistakes under pressure has been a huge issue.
Sainz on the other hand may not be as talented as Leclerc overall, but his consistency is preferable to an outstanding but streaky driver.

    Always an excellent watch.
I assumed signing Lewis was nothing more than a publicity stunt. Yes it's reasonable to expect him to drive very well, but if not..?
Of greater import, what if 'brand Lewis' clashes with 'brand Ferrari'..? I suspect unless both work very hard at making this 'marriage' work we're going to witness one of the messiest divorces in history. Charles may end up with an 'evil stepmother', either very good or very bad for him.

To start of: IMOLA! That letter origami the Italians made out of it serves nobody.
Concerning Leclerc and Hamilton. They have a very different driving style (Charles to some extent like Max or on the nose for the car and Lewis is like Carlos, meaning a balanced car), forcing Ferrari to favor one driver over the other in the development of the car.
So if external factors effectively wedge that, Ferrari will get no titles any day soon.

He’s going to Ferrari because A) They didn’t want to give him a three contract even though he was willing to commit to them for that period. B) Because they didn’t listen to his advice about how the zero side pod concept was a bad idea. And have suffered because of it.
He’s literally been the one doing test setups for since 2022, sacrificing his performance and chance at a podium so the team can learn more about the car. If that’s not playing for the team, what is.

I think that Lewis is going to be more than aware of the nature of Ferrari's culture. When you dream of joining a place of work - whatever that is, wherever that is - you do your homework. It doesn't have to be consciously, but it's the sort of thing you'd pick up on. He's probably been dreaming of it for 30+ years. There is unlikely to be much about the nature of the team that he doesn't already know, and given his long association with Fred V, I'm sure he's going to be thoroughly briefed before he steps foot in the factory.

Challenge Max for the title? Hahahahahahaha, no, that is not going to happen. With their new engine (Honda did upgrades for this season) and their new aero upgrades, they are going to utterly crush the grid once more. They have been running the engine conservatively for now gathering data but they are going to open all the taps since there is only just over one and a half season left with this engine. Prepare for Max doing his longest win streak yet starting in Imola, he is going to do this one until the very last race of the season. Leclerc won't be challenging anyone except for Perez perhaps, that's about it.
