Good video. We are 4-5 years from retiring and doing the slow travel thing. We do own a house and car in Puerto Rico and plan to keep that as our home base. We will sell everything on the mainland, say goodbye to the snow, and travel with a carry on only❤
That sounds like a great plan to have Puerto Rico as your home base, we love it there! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for showing our Island so well!
Your welcome! 😃 We really love PR! It's one of our happy places!
As soon as I saw you two pop up on my screen sitting next to each other, I could see the love radiating through. Cheers to your beautiful union. And thank you for sharing your advice. 🤍✨
Thank you!
I've only flown through Puerto Rico but definitely need to go someday.
You should definitely put it on your list! Beautiful island and people
Thanks for this 🎉
You’re welcome 😊
you did a very good job on this video, i subscribed :)
Thank you so much!
Amezing Video of 2024
😊 we are happy you liked it
You guys forgot to mention the homeless Dogs that are in the streets in some parts in PUERTO RICO....And also did you guys notice all the homeless Cats inside of San Juan it is sad.....Now my personal cons inside of PUERTO RICO is the cost of prices on the food also the transportation on buses are very slow inside of SAN JUAN region and of course the POWER OF ELETRICITY goes off.Sometimes for hours.
We only spent 2 nights in San Juan and the rest of our time was spent in Fajardo and Rincon so we didn't see a lot of stray cats. We didn't encounter very many street dogs, only a few on the beaches in Rincon. Yes, public transportation is not great in Puerto Rico. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Stray 🐕🐈easy fix...despite shelters...overpopulation is the mayor problem! It takes locals and goverment to go hands on!
Power outages?...solar panels which are being installed by the thousands... food..grow your own 😂...food everywhere is expensive.
Transportation...? 99% own their own transportation.
Almost every one has a car in PR so thats why they dont care about public transportation@@TheWanderingHartz
I actually think the cats are a pro. They control the rats. Plus they have mad ethat place a home. People feed them and there is a vet group that takes care of them. They even neuter or spay them.
I actually think those cats in Old San Juan are a pro. They keep the rats out. Plus there is a community that takes care of them and even neuter/spay them.
Hmm, I bet I could buy a beater car to smash around the island for a couple G. Handling that, PR might be a vibe.
Man I LOVE PR. Minnesotan here, and I’m looking to escape the gray. I’ve never experienced a hurricane tho so idk mannn
You definitely need a car if your gonna be there for a while and if you want to see the best parts of the island. It is stunningly beautiful you can't beat the Caribbean!
😊👍🌞 P.R. Wasn't really on our list. Will have to watch your other videos to get a better picture of visiting as slow travelers.
We loved our stay in Puerto Rico, if you have the budget we think it's a great option for living or slow traveling in the Caribbean.
What do you guys do for income while traveling?
Hi Alex, we have several income streams including creating content for our youtube channel, our website, stock photography and more. 😃
PR has been threw thousands of hurricanes no sweat
Yes, we see your point, but the island is far more populated in the last 400 years and thus the risk of loss of life has become exponentially greater over that time.
If you are able to accept that risk, good for you, however not everyone is comfortable with the potential loss of life or or financially able to deal with property damage and the aftermath.
As for us, we would not be as concerned, but we would also be less likely to remain on the island in the peak of hurricane season. Not everyone has that option. 🤔
You state that Puerto Rican food has "Tejano" influences in your video, but I would have to disagree. Instead of stating "Tejano" I would have stated the food has "Taino" and "Carib" influences which are the two main Indigenous tribes people which inhabited the island when the Spanish originally arrived. Many Puerto Ricans today continue to carry the genes of only our Taino and Carib Indian grandmothers as our Taino and Carib Indian grandfathers did not produce offspring due to the Spanish enslavement or widespread extermination of all male Taino and Carib men during the conquest of the island by our Spanish grandfathers. It was our surviving Taino and Carib Indian grandmothers who introduced some of their culinary traditions to our current cuisine. "Tejano" is a term generally used for Mexican American culture and cuisine which although they had similar traditions and cuisine there still remain many differences between the Aztec, Inca and other Central American tribes from those in the Caribbean. The food was also different due to the different food ingredients available in both places. And I think if a Puerto Rican overhears you ever compare the food in Puerto Rico to Mexican cuisine and describe it as "Tejano" some may even take offense to it.
Thanks for super detailed comment. Michelle meant to say "Taino" but got mixed up.
@@TheWanderingHartz No worries. Both names may sound similar to many English language speakers. It's understandable.
Taino- “Ta-eeno”
👍
Earthquakes?
Another good one
how much was rent for the apartment you showed?
I think it was $2500 for the month. You can check out our tour of it here th-cam.com/video/s17erDQubyk/w-d-xo.html and our Cost of Living (as digital nomads) video for Rincon th-cam.com/video/6d2vLW8oB_o/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for watching!
@@TheWanderingHartzMost can't afford that here.
Totally understand that, honestly we couldn't do that again now either.
Wow 2500! I thought PR was cheaper to live 😢
It certainly can be.
Our stay was in a nice place on the beach. Not our normal budget for stays.
You can check out the accommodations tour th-cam.com/video/s17erDQubyk/w-d-xo.html and our cost of living for Rincon th-cam.com/video/6d2vLW8oB_o/w-d-xo.html for more info.
What about the sharks y biggest fear loll
Ah, yes, great question. We are not shark experts, but from what we understand, odds are you more likely to be swept out to sea by rip currents than attacked by a shark in PR
Also if you have a health condition that requires frequent visits to Doctors or Hospitals, it will be on your wallet...
Good Point, people will want to check your health care coverage for Puerto Rico.
CON......HUMIDITY !!
Beaches is spelled like this.
ahh yes , nice catch!
Bugs?
ah yes!
It’s not the high cost of living, it’s the cost of living high. I’m living comfortably here on @$1500./month.
Well the video is about living as a digital nomad or anyone staying short term, not living somewhere permanently.
Wonder where violent crime will fall.
Honestly didn't factor that in. I am assuming your talking about violent crimes? We never felt unsafe but we also don't seek out illegal things or party in sketchy areas of San Juan. Although we might update our blog post to reflect crime rates.
Violent crime is very little to none compare to all U.S. mainland cities with similar population of 3.4+ million people. I live on the island since 2010 and have never ever experience any type of crime.
Thank you for sharing!
Violent crimes will fall under any U.S. ...city ranges. NY...Chicago..Texas Florida...Atlanta😂
True!
I think I'd rather hear from Puerto Ricans than arrogant Americans
Arrogant? Ha ha, did you even watch the video? Haters gonna hate. Thanks for making a such a meaningful and uniformed contribution.
Not hating on ya just calling it like I see it...sorry if you don't come across as wonderful to me as you see yourself
What you wish to hear from Puerto Ricans? I am one and currently live on the island.
@@hernandez-perezandroid5983 your opinion is more important to me
I’m Puerto Rican and I agree with your pros and cons that were mentioned in the video. It’s impossible to cover all topics in a short video. Not to mention, they did say that the topics covered were from their personal experience and it could vary person to person. It’s nice to hear the perspective from someone who is less likely to be bias such as Puerto Ricans. Keep up the good work 👍
Weird that with all the beauty of Puerto Rico you show us endless video of your faces and very few short clips of the island. Definitely not gonna follow a page that wants to show themselves talking instead of the beauty of travel
No worries, this was a Pro's and Con's video not a travel vlog. You can check out our travel vlogs to see some of the beauty of PR.
It's really hard listening to you guys describe PR...
How do you mean?
