No need to worry about cave flying ... the meta I follow to do the lava golem is to ride a good level enforcer (and cryo/uncryo to get thru the crawl spaces). He destroys everything even while walking on the walls/roof of the cave. Enter the arena with no dino out .. and then when he pops out of the lava ... grapple up to the crystal ledge for safety, break crystal and throw out a good level Velo. At that point right click or C attack shoot him ... the Velo absolutely wrecks golems in general so mine just shreds the lava golem ... and profit!! This is also how I do the Ice Queen, except I use the enforcer or megatherium for the final battle. Just keep in mind if there are dinos out when you cross the barrier or when the golem/queen jumps up, it will cancel the fight and you go home empty handed.
Khalil Carney If you have cave flying turned on you can. Trust me, since they introduced cryopods I've taken a Griffin into that cave about a dozen times both on singleplayer and a private server. I aim it down, sit on its back and fire off rockets. The golem can't throw the rocks that high to hit me.

You don't even know; ascendant cloth is the most versatile armor in the game. Particularly when it comes to temperature. And all you need to repair it is fiber.
So uhm, i normally just drop a giga on his head. its a little fussy but considering gigas do extra damage to stone its pretty op as long as you kill him quickly and dont fall into the lava. The boulder does %health burn though like a giga bleed so you gotta be quite fast killing him
Oh allso pretty sure wit hthe death recovery mod you can jsut jump in the lava at the end of the cave and pull your stuff. PRETTY SURE, its been a while since ive played whit that mod
