Thanks for the review Doc. I picked up my 38s a couple of days ago and will play my first game tonight. They feel amazing around the house. Thought about waiting for the lows but I couldn’t imagine anything feeing as perfect as the 38s so I pulled the trigger.
I wish you investigated the premature outsole separation that a lot of guys pointed out. Even store displays were showing signs of it. The regular 38 might’ve went on sale quickly because of it. Maybe they addressed that in the lows, which is why they released pretty sooner than usual.
@@FootDoctorZach oh yeah I figured that….but what do you think the potential manufacturing problems were that would easily cause that problem? Applying that much force at the forefoot on either side of the 38, the separation would be inevitable. How can Jordan Brand let the sale of these continue? I was able to get the FIBA 38 for $100 at a JD Sports, but I still don’t think they would be worth it.
There's nothing to investigate. It's poorly designed if durability is your priority. The outsole having the cutouts in the forefoot to match the X-Plate makes the corners there super vulnerable to peeling and dragging on the floor. Nike's quality control is also crap to begin with. Its not surprising that the glue doesn't hold. I promise you every pair of Nike basketball shoes is just as poorly glued. These just happen to have a super poorly designed outsole.
@@DanielEndres-cu3tt would be dope if Zach did a glue test, see how much it could hold up under an extreme condition of some sort, like under heat in a given period of time or a peel test.
Thanks for the review 👍 I went true to size and it's a great fit. I'll update this later on to inform about sole separation at the cutouts ppl experienced with the 1st version. Playing in them like crazy to be able to return before deadline ifbany issues 🤣
Can you do a performance review of the Jordan 12 and 13? A lot of players still use these two models and would be great to see how they stack up compared to today’s tech!
these are on sale here in PH. I like your sizing tips since you actually advise to go down a half size whenever possible for a more performance fit (which i assume is more snug), which is my preference for basketball shoes.
Im loving the end credit preview of the next shoe. Cant wait to see how those Jokers perform... that shank/cushion setup looks like a running shoe. Interested in seeing if it translates to basketball.
I typically cut the arch spot out of almost all my insoles. Cuz I'm flat footed and they are insanely annoying on the bottom of my foot. Thank you for the sizing tip. I got the AJ 38 in an 11, my normal size, and they were/are long in the toe box. Thanks Doc
Hey Zach! As an foot doctor, how much would you recommend for the extra space in basketball shoes to be? I am struggling with basically every model whether to go with 11.5 or 12, since I have an condition that you doctor's sometimes call "Morton's Toe". Take care, and thank you for the great content!
Hey, i’m trying to decide between the Jordan 38 Low’s and the LeBron 21s. I have a slightly wide foot, but that’s not a huge problem. If I were to get the Jordan 38 Low’s, I have inserts that I can switch into them. I’ve tried both on foot in store before and I think I like the feel of the 21s a bit better, but do you recommend one over the other?
thinking about getting these, but $175 isnt cheap for hoop shoes. also i'd take out the insole and replace it with a move insole, which is another $40, but they're sold out of size 12. how do you sell out of insoles? lol
The X Plate on the medial side really hurts my feet when playing ball. I even have blisters on that side. Does it improve over time? Maybe after a break in period?
Please check back in, if the X-Plate separation occurs if you continue to hoop in these. Not trying to waste time in these like I did the mids. My aquas separated on the first hoop session.
That’s so crazy. Just getting back into basketball shoes this year and I love the look of the lows. All these horror stories everywhere I look scare me away
Nice jobs as always Doctor Zach! Tested the Mid-tops a few days ago and the Full length zoom and Cushlon 3.0 is amazing! The Materials on the other hand felt so so cheap and poorly merged (glue residue everywhere, non fitting seems etc.) it doesnt wonder me at all that they are sitting on the shelves right now. Not worth 180-200$. The rear of the lows really looks much better and more thought through!
Is there any way to apply a bit of weight to the shoe when you tilt them during grip testing? added Friction should be more neutral and non performance based
What a great review. I guess this shoe is better than the high. I played them with their initial insole and it was decent. Recently i purchased some Move gameday insole(not the pro) but my feet feels higher inside the shoe now.. Is this safe ? Is this happens with all after market insoles? I did ordered the correct size for my feet and shoes. Thanks @FootDoctorZach
Hey Dr! I noticed that the big kids mid top version has a very similar colorway to the adult low. Odd, does it have the same tech? Since a big kids size 7 is the same as M7/W8.5 this could be a great option. Based on the fact that many women hoopers can fit into youth sizes, I would love to see some reviews on the kids versions of shoes to confirm the same materials. Thanks
What’s the best shoe for dunking? I’m a short dunker that needs impact protection, springiness, stability and great traction. What are your recommendations? Thanks 😊

Hello footdoctor, I have a question. I tried the Luka 2 and I don’t understand why I feel a perfect cushion on my left heel but not under my right heel. Do I need orthotic insoles? I played a practice with the KD16 in a tts, because I finally think they are tts, and after one hour, my right foot felt a hole under my toes, and I felt the zoom also destroyed under my right foot. I really need an answer. Thanks.
hey doc, I love your videos and actually took one of your recommendations and now i'm playing on a Son of Flash, which is just amazing. Problem is that I have a pronated foot and now i'm suffering from shin splints, which are causing so much pain that I had to stop hoopin. I went to the doctor but he didn't asked anything about the shoes I play in. Can the Son of Flash be the problem in this case?
If you watch where I bend the shoe at the shank it looks like it has the same issues but it all comes down to the manufacturer- no idea if they got the gluing right
The laces on these are killing my ankle. Sucks because I love everything else about the shoe but I can’t wear them for serious hoop sessions because it’s so bad. Anyone else having this issue?
9:03 - How can it be that the width is smaller than my foot (11,5 cm)? Because many said the Jordan 38 is good for wide feet. But now your messuras are much smaller. And i tried them even on. And they are good for my foot. So where do you mesure 9 cm? And the length makes no sense. Because every shoe size has different length. So what for size do you test?
Worst shoe Ive played in as far as I can remember...Furst time Ive Had blisters on my feet. Materials feel very cheap and Overall it feels just bad on the feet. Cushion is also very Bad and a piece of the sole just broke apart after Just one week of playing...DONT BUY THOSE SHOES
Same issue. I've never ever ever experienced a blister in any sneaker or shoe for that matter. 2nd time out hooping in these, I felt the pressure on the inside arch of my right foot. Took the sneaker off and had a crazy blister. Took a look at my left foot, and the same thing was beginning to happen. I'm trying to clean them as I type this and will be taking them back.
Hi Zach! I have a video request. If it's possible, could you please do a review on the Jordan Stay Loyal 3? I know it is pretty unpopular, but it would be great if you could make one. Thanks in advance!

Its from the bending at the Xplate- i show it when showing how the shoe bends at the forefoot

@DeepDishPizza the 13s are comfy on and off the courts but how are these 38s off courts?
