Green Tech! I love it...I wish the world's most polluters use much more green tech to increase the efficient output of their agriculture. However much of Africa lands is unused while Africa agriculture attracts rarely significant investment or external aid to increase the food consummation in 2050 where the total population of the world would be 10 billion...

if amerika stopped shopping for the bottom of the barell for price............then the farmers could impliment many new ideas. I grow organic foods for myself and No one wants to pay for the value thereof. So I eat it my self after all if i am going to loose money on each item...............i will see my family eats it. Enjoy the cheap food in usa and pay in drugs and medical bills for the difference. As for me and mine, we will eat well and stay away from the Dr. and his dope!
I'm just starting out with growing food indoors as a new very small scale business venture here in my City, it has began with micro greens and now moving on to lettuce, rocket and other salad greens as well as basil and coriander and I'm finding that even with very little start up cost it is slowly coming together and I'm working through each of the obstacles that present themselves. In my opinion there isn't the need to start at the scale of these business' but rather it is better to cash-flow yourself through good marketing and I believe you will get there. Great video, thanks guys :-)
You will be better off just showing people how to do it than doing it for them. Hey they might pay you to show them. If I had my own restaurant and someone showed me how to grow my own produce on the roof of my restaurant I would like it and be willing to do so. Sounds good to me. What do you think?
I think plant growing lighting technology is ABSOLUTELY necessary, and will benefit the future, not only for sustainable food sources, but doing so with huge amounts less water waste! As a bonus, no "BIOENGINEERING"!!!!!!! AWESOME! :)
Even with recent improvements in PV and LED tech, you're still looking at what, maybe 10% efficiency in delivering light? Might there be some way to collect light with mirrors, route it through pipes (maybe fiber topic cables), convert the green to red, and distribute it to individual plants? You could still use PV+LED to distribute artificial light for fine balancing, and for cloudy days and some of the night-time.
Sravani Nekkanti water run off of unuseable chemical salts (its not chemical free n.p.k(nitrogen+ phosphorus +potassium +micronutrients they're chemicals!pest make their way indoors as well as fungal and mildew which take hold easier being there is no natural preditors or inhospitable temp enviroments or rain natural deterents for pest. They use pesticide, Biologically derived or through synthetics they're the same thing) of the nutrient solution goes into the sewer eventually into water systems .With areoponics, there is .the antibiotics feed to the fish, into the humans eating them the workers handling them and eventually the water system they dump the used water into.
Studying and working with scientific principles as simple as advancing traditional farming practices in a weather protected environment, is nothing new, but needs to be continued to provide safe, efficient food sources for future generations free of chemical pollution.
love the tame bees. the blue/red led light farming already being used by China many years ago. These type of light also prevent bugs...thats y they dont need pesticides. btw those tilapia fish won't earn u much money, but its a hardy fish, easy to rear.
i grew up in the country and have said for the last thirty years that this is going to be apart of the farming future we should be able to grow some foods in buildings in the cities and with the advancement of led lighting and solar technologies that it can be cost competitive but one of the things i never see and maybe it will happen as more of these farms happen is setting up the buildings to also be able to flood the growing rooms with carbine monoxied with. it will help the plants to grow even faster and will also help clean the air in the cities in fact put these buildings next to power plants and factories that produce a lot of pollution and capture it. there would be big benefits for the farmers and these plants with these new carbon regulations and how they have to buy carbon credits. ( i;e need to buy less credits and would be good community publicity)
Terry Hoffman carbon dioxide (Co2)-is what we exhale and what compost piles release when aerobic bacteria decompose compost ; carbon monoxide (CO) is unburned carbon from fires or car exhaust ; Roof top gardens and on the sides of buildings could utilize space and rain water(naturally perfect for plants)runoff; and reduce the distance between farm and fork .our own waste could be used as fertilizer and it already is. in some places the solids from water waste treatment facilities are sold to regional farms. But it has pathogens harmful to humans so it needs to be sterilized first.Urban design could be made more sustainable and more or less self sufficient requireing less external resource use and depletion. The current infrastructure needs to be transitioned first. These systems described are not chemical free thats a lie. They still use N.P.K nitrogen+Phosphorus+Potassium + micronutrients biologically derived or produced from artificial synthetics they're the same thing essential nutrients. And still produce unuseable chemical salts left over.Which goes right down the drain and into our water systems. And with the areoponic systems need antibiotics which people eat workers get sick handling and eventually gets dumped into the water systems.
we have a couple of indoor farms that are growing tomato and peeper "trees" large bush indoors and get drops for about 3 years before tree needs replacing ,they just pick every 40 days
Food off the ground good. I like that part. After the where house falling down during that storm recently I wonder if the warehouse shape should be a pyramid. I was taught that is one of the strongest shape structures. Does anyone 2nd this notion.
Can anyone tell me the complete cost of this vertical farming ? And can we grow fruits like guava , pineapple , mango , strawberry and vegetables like cucumber , potato , lady finger. And what is the cost of LED lights setup ?
The one where thay said its abit hard to grow tomatos under the LED. Thats bullshit,, i have tomatoplants under growlights, I get fresh tomatos every week, I i pick the whole plant today, next weeek it will be full of tomatos again.. but agian, i grow in rich nutrient soil with weekly fertilizing.
Sooooooo, won't genetic engineering fix the issues with corn/wheat being grown indoors? Especially with CRISPR, it seems relatively straight forward to engineer corn/wheat that grows well in indoor facilities. I say that, without actually knowing how hard it is to do this.
@@tazboy1934 not much circumference around the equator 24901, circumference through the poles 24860 just 41 miles shorter. Only a 0.16% difference or 8.7 feet difference for every mile.
Watching this to study and get some knowledge on this because I’m doin a school project on ending world hunger. This helped SOOO much. Thank u!!!
My Marijuana plants love LED.

No friggin pesticides for indoor farming. I like it !

That's a gr8 Idea for roof top green houses with colored glass. I could see the mirrors helping reducing wasted resources.
Love it👍🏼🌱🌱🌱
wow, very useful video. hope it gets improved with no side effects.
by the way, are there any side effects?

Those LEDs are converting vast amounts of energy into tiny amounts of gourmet salads for the rich - such progress !
Uhmm, ever heard about solar panel? Also, those LED use less electricity than your AC in a month. The clue is in the name. LED.
This is good !

DOMED..FOODS.O-LOOK AT SPAINES.90% OF THER MARKET SHARE TOMATOES GROWN INSIDE,,,,,,,,,,,,
I hoppe to see green house's that grows tress too.

How about friendly nature? I leave in tropical weather.. lot of sun.. no storm. Is that need the led?
I bet that warehouse farming had an excellent oxygen level
Jason Auw now when their pumping 1500 ppm of co2 into it.
for the record i be they are pumping untold amounts of CO2 into that building......................no carbon no growth
10:10 Nearly had a heart attack.
Very educational but the high costs is a deterrent. Haha.
what about air condition?
I think vertical farming are alternative ways to adhere a solution to climate change.
so what does the farmer do to the nutrient runoffs? does it get completely recycled?
The best case is adjusting the end of cycle solution and applying it to an outdoor garden area.
it's flood and drain recerculatimg system. you just topoff the tank when it gets low. just the same as the aquaponics minus the fish
How much does it cost??
LEDs are not cheap to put in but with the savings to run them and the fact that we don't need to exhaust excess heat the paid comes rather fast
Nobody has done this before?
We are growing for more than 50 year's like this
How are they handling those bees without getting stung?
They are friendly bees. Just kidding but there is some truth
Bees do not like to sing unless they are threaten and only females have stingers
by getting consent

The light led really brighter than mine

Who ave this video in French
You are right
Man, they never find the skunk weed now, low power, no heat????
If you want to grow weed, you're still going to have noticeably larger electricity bills.

Yes but for now the cost of return is rather heavy. 1 ear per plant, 3 months to grow and 6/8 free high

your also using chemical nutes don't lie. it's the reason why hydroponic tomato taste like cardboard. organic all the way better flavour.
So you're saying that you grow your marijuana completely organically?
Mate, have you ever tasted a hydroponically grown tomato?
