My spouse and I are both Se/Fe, ESTP / ENFJ and this resonates with both of us.
She told a great story about how an intern that was working for her that thought she should take over for their number one salesman while he was on vacation who made a substantial six figure income. When the poor thing had her bubble popped she was all indignant and even broke into tears. Totally delusional.
Coming out of college and both of us were very humble and recognized there was far more to learn than what we knew.

I have a coworker who I believe is an ESTP. He doesn't follow sports, but he follows the stock market and finds new trends all the time. He's competitive, and very good at dealing with people. He's the opposite of me in these ways...

Infp here, yes, this video makes me feel like cattle measuring how much flesh I got to to sell in order to survive in a dog eat dog world. I just want to be happy. xD
I'm Ne-Fe, I remember helping Se-Fe's in school figure out their emotional problems but then the punch of the actual extroverted value would just always lower my self-esteem, which actually helped me to change. Just before the results of my finals an ESTP told me that I would be just fine because of all the work that I had put in, which actually came true even though I was going through a very rough phase and I hadn't been able to study.
My dad is a lead play ENFJ. He had a job for 40+ years at Standard & Poor’s, and he was responsible for searching out the most valuable companies to welcome into the S&P 500. This fits him to a T.
The Se-Fe spectrum of value simultaneously feels incredibly real, and also often incredibly demotivating. Like how every damn job in a certain field might say it wants 3+ years of experience. I can see why this happens and why companies want experience, and as a consequence it has kind of blackpilled me on job hunting and market success.
I'm ESTP and that is the biggest advantage over our ISTP brothers. How to take the Se/Ti/Ni package and sell it to someone who may be dubious about our abilities. We both know we can kick ass, but getting the opportunity is tough if to you don't have the perfect resume. Think about that core ability and how you can shape it to someone else expectations. Maybe a someone you know with strong Fe can help you with it.

I could never understand why someone could spend hours describing in great detail why a team won or lost, what plays were good/bad, most valuable players, etc. And then you ask the same person if they have any idea why their marriage ended/why they got fired/why their kids never call and it’s glitch glitch glitch.

@@TheLategates Yepppp 😭 I see it in action every day, and it’s the first thing I think of. Pretty sure he’s an FF Fe/Se PC/B(S). I’m an MM Ne/Fi CS/P(B), so the differences between us are apparent. Our relationship is strained, and the way he doesn’t address that day after day absolutely boggles my mind- he will stop at nothing to appeal to the energy in the room, but he will never truly stand for anything substantial in order to fix things. :(( At least he encourages me to face my own demon functions, since we’re all blind to reality in some aspect or another.

I do want to add that companies also have a play in how much experience a collage graduate can gain. Because they usually want 5 years of experience, but when no company gives you a chance to earn 5 years of experience, one doesnt have experience and therefor cannot start in a business. Its a nightmare circle which is pretty unbreakable unless someone gives you a chance.. but I agree that knowing that humbling oneself is a better way to breaking that cycle than being arrogant and thinking you've made it. However I also think that schools give people the impression that with a degree you can do anything and that it's where the learning ends, while the reality is that's where the learning actually starts. I'm now in my second university/study(/idk the english word to use here sorry) to become a teacher in which they tell us that once we finish college, we are start-ready teachers and that's a so much more realistic way of putting it than e.g. you are now a teacher (which implies that you can do the same as any other teacher) or a bachelor of science or something idfk. It's a two way street, not just the kid's/parent's fault I think.
I have a question for you- I’m a self-typed MM Ne/Fi CS/P(B) and I’m in high school. I’ve been considering becoming a teacher. I don’t want to do it because I have skills in explaining (I don’t, though I want to develop that) or because I have a passion for a certain subject (I like a few, but that doesn’t matter to me). I have an intense passion to really become an adult who knows how to see eye to eye with young people and who can encourage them to learn and get better. Heck, teaching a group kids would even challenge me to get on top of my Si and better myself just so that I can stand in front of a class every day with the ability to truly give them the teaching, advice, and structure they need to flourish. I’d really have to put in the work to meet these kids where they are, to constantly keep moving forward in order for me not to feel like I’m failing a room of promising youth. (That kind of failure breaks my heart, and I think the aversion to it would encourage me to grow so much as a person). I know it’s not all sunshine and rainbows- like I mentioned, I’m in high school, and it can be a pretty negative and awkward place, especially for the teachers that some students have no sensitivities or respect towards... but teaching a group of kids my age someday is still my strongest dream, for now.
Since you’re someone in college studying to be a teacher, how did you know that it was what you wanted? Does it have any correlation to your type? What’s your favorite thing about the idea of it and what’s something I should know before pursuing it in college? @@sophiaredwood5825 Hey there! Nice to meet you, I'm a self typed TeNe PCBS. Personally I think it's really important for teachers to have a certain drive to share your knowledge with others or to be the person that guides people to achieve their growth and that it gives you joy to see those people grow. That's the first requirement. If you don't have that, I don't think it'll give you joy to teach. The second requirement is finding a subject you'd like to teach. In my case it's art. I could't see myself teaching math or science, but art is something I really like and am enthousiastic about. The third requirement is to find a group you enjoy teaching, that could be kids, teenagers or adults or even elderly people. In my case I can also choose if I want to teach in a school setting, or in a museum or through workshops.
When I graduated high school I told the dean that I wanted to become anything but a teacher, actually. At 18 I was way too young to understand myself and what I truly wanted. Heck I'm 27 now and I still don't really know me and what I want (demon Di is a b*tch lol) and I've accepted that this is probably a liquid thing that will change with me forever. What I want now can be different in 5 years and I'll say the same in 5 years and so on and on and on. After high school I knew little, but I did know that I wanted to do something with my creativity, so I went to college to become a graphic designer and marketing/communication specialist. Creative, broad in the sense of what I could do with it jobwise and a high chance of well paying job. Afterwards I didn't feel like the work I was doing with that degree was my kind of work. I was good at it, don't get me wrong, and I loved the creative part, but I didn't feel any fulfillment. But why? I was afraid of not doing me and being stuck in a workfield I didnt like for the rest of my life, so I did some sleeping about it and came to the conclusion that I didn't like the office as a workplace (boooooring and static), I didn't like the commercial/money goals (I sometimes felt like I was selling my soul and I was swindling customers) and I missed human contact. But what kind of human contact, because I had customers and clients right!? ugh I didnt know. Why did I feel this way? One day I spoke to my mother about this and she asked me if I ever thought about becoming a teacher (aparently she'd always thought that would be my ideal job, but never told me). I think that was kind of an eye-opener for me. So I decided to try it out. I contacted my old art teacher from high school and asked her if I could spend a day with her to see if teaching art could be something for me. I loved it. The kids and their curiosity (anything that I can learn from them), the creativity of making up assignments, the chance to share knowledge and skills that are my hobby and I enjoy doing, the way I saw those kids absorb my own enthousiasm and be surprised by their own abilities and the knowledge that I had a part in their growth was just amazing. I stayed as a volunteer for the rest of the school year (2-3 months) and did some more sleep and discovered that everything I loved about my first degree was directly or indirectly connected to teaching. People research, giving presentations in a fun/interactive way, leading group projects etc etc. After that I was too late to sign up for art school, so I joined a student association that gave art workshops to students and did that for a year, just to see if I would still like it before spending a lot of money on a second degree and to build a portfolio, and it remained fun and I even thought about doing a second year if I was rejected from art school. But I didnt have to, because I got accepted into art school and am now in my 2nd year + I already got a sidejob as a class assistent in the arts department of a high school.
It's hard work, but teaching is something you can learn. How to explain stuff, how to maintain order etc are all skills that you'll learn when you study to become a teacher. Being a natural helps, but isnt neccesary. It's also a job that requires all functions and animals imo. Even tho Blast is most associated with teaching, I think most of my classmates are consumers, actually. Teachers come in all shapes and types. Being a sleep first would be difficult I think (and would be more rare I think), but if a sleep first person sets their mind to it, they can be a teacher if they want to I guess. I don't think teaching is connected to a certain type, but I think Shave might have some statistics about that. Anyone can build their demon functions in this job imo, not matter what they are. In my case it's decider issues. I can manage the Ne and Si, the chaos vs the structure very well, but I struggle in deciding when to be firm and when to be soft, in wanting to be the cool teacher vs giving those kids what they need instead of want and not being the cool teacher, in seeing the group culture and relationships between the kids, seeing who's the popular kid that rules the group and how to deal with that kid. Also, a not so fun aspect of teaching is the paperwork, the meetings about students, parentmeetings, etc. Boooring. When the kids are really annoying and you have to play policewoman instead of actually transferring the knowledge and skills. But that's okay, because the fun moments in class make up for it and in the end I still feel like I have a more meaningful and fulfilling job than when I was in marketing. Will I always be a high school teacher? who knows. Probably not, because my Ne will get bored. So I have to keep myself entertained. And those kids will do so, every day is different because of them and the new challenges they provide.
To me your story sounds like you see public speaking and class management as a challenge you want to tackle - to see if you can do it. Correct me if I'm wrong, tho. I think you need to ask yourself what would happen when you tackle it. Would you lose interest? Any job or any work that you are going to study for is propably going to be for a longer period in your life, so I'd suggest looking for something that you really like doing and are enthousiastic about. I think going to college to become a teacher just to build your Si with the chance of not doing anything with the degree afterwards would be a waste of money. There are easier ways to improve your Si. For example I think you could meet your challenge by giving workshops, so you have the experience and use that for personal growth. So my advice is: try it. Experience for yourself what it would be like to be a teacher to make a living and decide after that if you want it to become your job. I think becoming an adult is something that happens with age and life experience, and so is dealing with teenagers. No need to become a teacher for that I think.

While I’ve never really enjoyed breaking things down for other people, I have a passion for helping other people to grow and achieve their goals. It’s especially true for young people, since I feel like so many teachers and parents underestimate the same people they try to raise up. It makes me so sad to watch. Teaching’s a hard job, and it’s hard to do well. I’ve never been in the shoes of a teacher, but I’ve seen enough to know two things. 1. It’s easy to forget why you wanted the job in the first place, if you even wanted it at all. 2. It’s easy to believe you’re doing a wonderful job when in reality, nothing is being accomplished.
I don’t entirely want to become a teacher to better myself. I want to become a teacher to make students’ lives easier, to encourage them to love themselves, and to help them to achieve their student goals. I’d want to be a teacher who can actually help students pass a class. I’m just convinced that the more structural aspects of the job would be so taxing for me, and that in order to get through them, I’d have to promise not to lose sight of my obligation to be what my students need. For me personally, I feel as if it would be simple to fall into the delusion that I’m not responsible for the Si aspects of maintaining a classroom. It’s my last function and I’m terrible at it, and so many times I try to pretend like I can fulfill my Fi aspirations without making Si commitments towards people and their time. That would probably be the pitfall I’d be forced to reckon with. Actually, an interesting thing about loving OPS as a high schooler is that I have ample time to observe my teachers, and I can see clearly how so, so many of them push the responsibility of their demons onto their students.
It’s really funny your type is what it is, since I was already going to bring up this example without even initially realizing that your type is similar. I actually have a supposed MM Te/Ne PC/B(S) math teacher, and (no shade towards your type!) he’s not a great teacher by any means. (Again, no shade to you; I would just assume he’s bit of an unhealthy variant of your type.) The problem is what I mentioned above. He spends the whole class parading his saviors, fascinating himself with mathematical patterns and how they work and scribbling them onto the board. He tries to get students to interact with him and to come out of their shells to solve problems. The issue is that he NEVER communicates lessons in a clear and concise way, so none of us can take proper notes. None of us understand the homework he assigns because we get no proper notes to go off of. He never structures his lessons, either, so he normally shoves most of the important info into the lesson during the last five minutes when he realizes he’s pressed for time. The more insecure he is, the more he pushes against the tribe to make people talk and interact with him; you can tell because if he’s having a bad day, he’ll get verbally aggressive with everyone to make them answer questions in class. The less people participate, the harder he pushes, which makes less people talk, and which makes the cycle continue. (And you can tell that he doesn’t know he’s doing any of it, either.) He’s never clear about assessments and never grades them on time, either. At the same time, he says it’s “our responsibility” to just figure out when we’re getting tested and insists that he’s told us about the assessments in the past (even when the whole room tells him they had no prior knowledge there was a quiz/test that day). Overall, the whole class is inefficient and what I consider to be a waste of my time, especially since I’ve had to go home and reteach myself every single lesson via the math textbook. The worst part is that this teacher prides himself on encouraging critical thinking and on helping kids to do the math in a way that works for them. He doesn’t do that at all, and the fact that he has good intentions behind all of this scares me beyond belief. The only students that can keep up with his class are the mostly ones with Savior Play, and it doesn’t help that a lot of the kids in my Honors class are Savior Sleep, myself included. We’ve brought up our qualms to this teacher again and again, and he’s just turned them back on us, so we’ve quit trying. I can’t express how happy I am that my last class with him was Wednesday. Throughout the year, the only thing I’ve ever learned from him is what I never want to become. I don’t remember a single bit of the math he’s taught me. :((
He’s just one example of things I notice in teachers. I naturally like to observe people, and I usually spend as much time analyzing my teachers as I do analyzing the material they’re giving. OPS has made it really easy to categorize their strengths and weaknesses in their field. The teachers that stand out to me are the ones that I can’t easily type, because their Saviors and Demons aren’t obvious. They don’t fixate on the same Savior solution or method and apply it to every teaching scenario. They aren’t shoving their Demons down the throats of their students, and they don’t even show what they themselves struggle with in the first place. They’re rational yet empathetic, structured yet flexible, and overall able to be what their students need without falling prey to their blind spots. (Not to say that all teachers are bad if they let their character show in their work; it’s not at all bad to know a teacher and have a relationship with them, but I usually find that if I know a lot about a teacher’s personality, it’s because it revealed itself negatively. It’s a lot easier to find teachers that are expressively savior-addicted or one-sided rather than ones who are simply expressive as people.)

Back to myself- I do have an intense passion for English. It’s come naturally to me my entire life; I grew up devouring books and I’m now attempting to start writing my own. However, part of me inherently fears myself and the terrible things I could become if I ran an English class. Sometimes I think about that bad math teacher I had and I close my eyes, and I can very easily imagine myself teaching a classroom of kids about English... except, instead of teaching them, I’m wasting time by ranting about all of my favorite books and only engaging with the kids who share my passions and my natural affinity for the subject. That vision in my mind haunts me every time I dare think I want to teach English. Since I’ve never struggled with the subject, I’ve never really needed to be taught as much as my peers. That could hinder me from having the patience to teach it to others effectively- that and the fact that my personal adoration for the subject would probably get in the way of my ability to teach it. I’m not very good at being efficient with the things I like; if I love to Consume it, I almost become worse at Blasting it, in a way.
Sometimes I fantasize about taking a subject I both abhor and lack skills in, and I think about majoring in such a subject- solely for the purpose of understanding the position of the future students who hate my subject and learning how to break it down for them in a way that makes it bearable. In theory, that would be an energetically challenging way of living life, but I know that in reality I’d get burnt out one month into college. The moral aspirations wouldn’t be enough to get me through that. I’m thinking of finding a middle ground, though. (Not a subject I obsess over, but not one I hate with all my being, either.) I’m trying to learn Spanish for a few reasons, and one of them is because I’m considering teaching it. I like the language, but I love the art of language learning. Everyone learns a language differently and I think the idea of creating a classroom environment that caters to different learning styles is so intriguing.
I think that personality theory and OPS’s animals in particular have a lot to do with that, actually. There are so many days I sit in my high school Spanish class picking out the animal stacks of my classmates and wondering what it would be like if teachers incorporated all four animals into classroom activity. There are some kids who Consume naturally, and others who only Consume within their Blast. Some kids are naturally playful and participating, and teachers typically pick on those students on their bad days when they’re very obviously too distracted to pay attention. Other kids need to be at their best energy levels to even consider extroverted participation; most of them usually have the look like they’re paying attention, but in reality they can be so tired out by the energy of the environment that they’re quietly lost in their own heads. I would love to be someone who can create such a versatile learning environment that it would be tailored to everyone, since most teachers I meet usually only tailor their classes to those with their own saviors. I really wonder what the teaching field could teach _me_ about people and how they learn.
If I were to teach any group, I’d probably lean more towards high school. Perhaps middle school if I felt particularly daring. I’ve never really been good with younger kids, and the idea of teaching them doesn’t interest me as much. Something about the very diverse mentalities that high schoolers can have draws me in, and I just see so much opportunity for differences to be made in the lives of those young people. Sometimes, teachers can have just as much influence in students’ lives as parents do- perhaps even more, depending on circumstance- and I think the way a teacher treats a child can define their identity and their future. It’s possibly a bit quixotic to think that far, and I know that life in the workplace is probably far duller and tedious than I’m making it sound. Still, I can’t help but idealize. (Ne to a fault, I suppose.)
From where I’m at, it seems like the job has so many ways to engage my Ne and Fi that I wouldn’t want to leave anytime soon, but I could be totally wrong about that. I dream of it as this constant life of learning about humanity and practicing self-improvement, but that may just be nothing more than a dream. I could rant about this for hours but I’ve already written out far too much and wayyy more than you needed to read, hahaha. I’ll leave this here. Don’t feel pressured to write out a long response, especially since you already gave me a ton of good advice in your last answer. If you have any thoughts though, feel free to share. :))

@@gem2677 We all have our weaknesses and strengths. I have had issues with my confidence due to the home I grew up in. However, I'm working on learning who I am and what I can do to improve. I have been passed over because of a lack of confidence. I'm working on accepting who I am and striving to be better even if it's only a small step at a time.

Sales and Sports, are definitely the opposite spectrum of me(The salesperson and sports head I would avoid at all cost). Se/Fe is something that a big blind spot for me.
As an INTP I'd be looking at 5 years experience at a job and be like "ok so when they do various things the positions have in common they won't have to spend 2 weeks learning the thing"

I have never been into sports although I was on XCand track I.n college. Love you guys!! I hope that your son is not an infj. I sensed that it’s a possibility from when you mentioned the lined up cars. It can be a big adventure and wildly challenging at times(infj ) think that he likes to line up the cars bc it feels good to see them lined up his own way. I believe th at infj s like as much as possible to be in something that feels close orsomewhat close to heir perception ofdivine alignment bc of their substantial attributes of grace and strength , and action of bringing the sacred to simplicities of life. I have 2&3 year old boys. It’s taken me awhile to comment, just saying everything now. Thank you. I greatly appreciate your generosity and wisdom .

When I discovered social value (Se/Fe), it was quite interesting. It kinda seems obvious to me, but still interesting, especially how I can apply it to my personal life.. Im still discovering my type, (I'm 95% sure its ISTP), so my Play (Se/Fe) is pretty low, but it's how I'm able to best engage with the "tribe" (for right now).

@@dreamluvr1600 Ne-Si are more wandering eyes - the movements are slower and they are not necessarily turning back to the same points - they are wandering around, often looking up - especially Ne saviours. While with Se-Ni they are moving very fast, point to point - Ni saviours usually fastly switch between 2 or 3 points very close to each other, while Se saviours wander around more but their eyes often turn to few main points around the room, their environment

I'm Se/Fe 3rd and great at hiring customer facing team members. I don't care AT ALL about resume or their past. In fact if they bring it up it takes away points. I care 100% about their vibe, if they're picking up on social cues and their sense of humor. Those are all signs of emotional intelligence which is the only thing that matters when dealing with people.
I'm also Ni first and consume last so I could see how someone with lead Se would care about all of that...but they'd also be wrong 😏
ive always thought people who excel in customer service are the most elite, most respectable, most IMPORTANT individuals on this Earth and i just feel like their emotional intelligence is just a signifier of some sort of deep down, raw material wisdom that some stupid jackass with no social etiquette lacks, like those that value putting on face even when they dont feel like it understand how it makes the world a better place even in the littlest ways, they give me a sensationalistic, refined and dignified feeling like theyre gonna be the ones winning in the end, sitting on thrones and being rewarded for all their emotional sacrifice while all the nasty mfs that treated them like human snot rags at their customer service jobs/or even out about in public will be washing their feet or crackling in the fire down below their feet. honestly the customer service people are so kind theyd probably try to rescue the pieces of shit

Yes, but the end point is similar. My Fe/Se spouse starts with a solid judgement Fe/Ni of other people and supports it with a Se factual reality. I start with a Se/Ti logical factual reality and implement with Fe. We have to be careful of not arguing about points where we are in agreement but approach it from different angles.

If I would have to hire someone for a key position, I would definitely want 5+ years of xp. You can have the best credentials, the best degrees, courses, whatever… if you don’t have xp, you don’t have shit. Honestly, experience is everything. Also, I would not hire someone under 28-30 for a key position, as I feel most people are not responsible enough in their 20s. I started taking life more serious once I hit 28. My husband and I both love to argue, to the extent that we've eliminated argument 'triggers' on social media because it was a problem for us.

I love watching sports, but I can't stand watching it live with no commentators explaining what is going on. I love not having the crowd so I can actually hear the ref or the comments. I don't care about Trade value or scenarios, I care even less about the money or salary cap. But I do like the patterns and tactical side of things to a degree. The trades and free agent signings only matter about team fits or philosophy changes (A defensive-minded coach trading for a great offensive player to balance and increase offensive production vs. a 3-point bombing team trading for a defensive player to balance out a bunch of defensive liabilities.

I don't know about that, the feminine functions are more movable, so they don't feel as serious and heavy. Having Se/Fe double feminine means you'll have an easier time in the 'real world' because you're not constantly bumping up against it, but rather flowing with it. I guess the internal struggle will be much harder though.
