I actually enjoyed this, I want more of these video game stories
Seconded
The shine off of Jules head gives me strength to face the day lol hope when I go bald I can pull it off that well
Invest in facial hair
I love the Yakuza series, so it was interesting to see Kiryu on the thumbnail.
The yakuza series is great, just got yakuza 0 and the remastered series. Gonna finish the whole lineup this year!
your in for a treat if it's your first time playing, i'm jealous :)
I finished 0 and it was extremely enjoyable. Made me purchase the kiwami games but I haven't got to them yet, but definitely looking forward to them.
@@dsb8283 Yakuza 2 (Kiwami 2 is a remake of 2) and Yakuza 0 are my favourites of the series
@@dsb8283 Just finished 0 too, it was definitely a great game
Eventually I'll get through the series and then play Judgment, which I believe is a spin off. Lots of hours of quality entertainment ahead.
I'm so down for more videos like this.
Im playing the Yakuza series right now. Absolutely magnificent games. Top teir storytelling.
“Probably doing too well because Nintendo could never keep up with demand of their products” seems to be a pattern with Nintendo even in the beginning.
This was just great, I knew about them being a card company once but no idea about the yakuza ties.
Great work jules you absolute legend
Not true about the Yakuza and Nintendo the Yakuza were around way before Nintendo even existed, and they are still around
ooooohhhhh this is a super cool story. Well done on the history lesson. I knew about Nintendo originally making those cool cards, but had no idea it turned into the gambling and whatnot. This is fascinating.
The story of PlayStation, when it started with an agreement between Sony and Nintendo please!!
"..Nintendo couldn't keep up with the demand for their products.." -1960's-90's
Keeping with tradition-Nintendo -2000's
If you guys don't know back in the days Nintendo even owned Love Hotels, Yes now "Family Friendly" Nintendo owned Love Hotels how insane does that sound.
Hiroshi Yamauchi personally owned them as a side business, not Nintendo itself. Same with the taxi company & the ramen company.
At around 3:54, you mention Nintendo "weathering the 1983 video game crash", however the video game crash was entirely local to North America only, and did not affect Europe or Japan at all.
This is easily the best Jules video I have ever seen. Please more of this!
Love the behind the scenes stuff gives the brain the feeling of learning something new. Even if it is trivia
I, for one, would adore getting more videos like this one.
I very much likes this type of video and its content. I would love to see more of these videos. I love weird and unknown history of anything gaming.
You guys should do more of this, some of the best content I've seen in a while
The Japanese Yakuza founded the world's oldest business'. Unless Nintendo founded Japan, they didn't "help create" anything Yakuza related.
Would love more of these! This was a fun watch. Thanks Jules!
I love the color of that wall with that black frame poster n his black hoodie
That was pretty cool! It's nice to get a backstory, and I'd hope to hear about other stories from publishers, video games and movies.
this was very interesting! I think there's a lot of us viewers who would love some more video game history videos in the future!
Please do more of these, this was sick
thanks for this nice little story.
Yeah, need to do something about that video package at the end. Especially seeing as one of them (Rachel Howie) isn't there anymore.
I really love this
There’s so much to know from video games but there back story is where it really shine
Hey, imagine if there was a Yakuza game in the future where the character you play as has to move boxes of something around Japan in a truck without specifically being told what was in them. Just to make it interesting, Yakuza members show up randomly to try and stop you delivering your goods, because someone gave them a tipoff. The game is set in 1990. That would be great.
Is this a reference that im not getting or are you serious?
@@chriscarter4563 Well, if Yakuza 8 were to take place during 1990, this could very well be a thing that happens. Somehow, the character you play as participates in sneaking around the Yakuza and delivers the Super Famicoms without them noticing. Only those in the know would get the reference.
This was really cool definitely do more of these
this was excellent...there's so many interesting stories in gaming you should tell them all... if all(!!!!!!) do not occur, I shall be verrrrry sad!
Yes, definitely more gaming stories please.
While This is a neat tidbit of information The Yakuza existed HUNDREDS of years prior to this.
Amazing video! I love to know more of the history of video games, it's full of interesting stories. Hope you make more of this vids. 😊
It first popped up on my ps2 JAMPACK demo disc....been balls deep in this series ever since
Very cool idea for a video. Love stuff like this
I've heard this story before but I'll be honest, you tell it way better!
That was cool. I think any true story where video games influenced history in some way would be interesting
I love learning cool new stories like this!
Okay, this was a pretty cool video. I certainly wouldn't mind more like it.
Fun video, pleasure to watch all the way through
Love it bro! Stay safe and keep up the good content! I'd love for you to mention Mystical Ninja 1 or 2 on the N64, I'd love to hear your thoughts on it. Maybe on a weird and wacky game list
That was really good ...very entertaining sir
This was brilliant. Love to see more
its midnight here in melbourne, australia
about to sleep , hears phone .
ME I MUST WATCH!!!!!
Excellent! More stuff like this! Loved it!
I'd definitely be into more such stories.
I don't remember Moby being this likeable
Jules voice is perfect for someone that takes for a living
Takes what...?
The Yakuza series are the greatest games ever made truly, nothing else comes close (well maybe Hatsune Miku Project Diva does) Yakuza 2 and Yakuxa 0 are my favourites :)
The Yakuza series is without a doubt the best games around and really know how to toy with your emotions. My favorites has to be 5 and 6. The ending to an amazing series was just emotional
@@richardklose441 oh my god yeah 6's ending had me in tears but i'm not going to spoil it here
I like the game history type stuff. More of this
Yeah! Great vid. More stories!
I loved it when he said nesisisis
Is there a Complete collection of yakuza Remastered Or do you have to buy them individually?
First two and 0 are sold individually and 3-5 comes in 1 package. And there is also 6 but it isn't a remaster and Judgment, which is a spin-off with completely separate story and characters. I'm currently in the beginning of Y4, finished Judgement and man, I'm having a blast.
Okay awesome i own 0 i'll have to get my hands on two and buy the Remaster collection for 3-5 and buy 6 and judgment as well what about Yakuza Kiwami i own the 1st game there as well going to be Releasing the new Yakuza game Path of the dragon.
here for this Jules. excellent content. big love friend
Sonic the Edgy Hedgehog? More like Sonic the Edgehog...
I loved this video and it's advertisement at the end.

Sweet as Jules
Love the piece. I have heard it before but you tell it so well. Now could you please tell Scott Telford how to pronounce Yakuza properly 👍🏿

Gottem
Yeah, the real stuff of bussiness, the kind sales charts do not show.
Yes, more please
If you've have never tried playing Hanafuda, give it a go. It's very good game.
Yakuza is my favorite thanks
This was great.
Loved this!
I missed you jewel daddy
This is such a stretch because they made cards that they created the yakuza
I don’t want to get in detail but the fact that Nintendo knew the Yakuza would intercept the Super Famicom transports was told by a person who knew the company (Nintendo) very well. Why I won’t reveal the name of this person has to do with safety precautions. I know too much and I should shut my mouth for now and in the future. Arigato goizamasu. 🙇♂️
I'm a simple guy, I saw Kiryu and I clicked it.
Am I the only one sad about not getting Kiryu and Majima in Smash?
love a good Jules vid
This was so neat!
Thus was an awesome video made by the culture that whats.
Gaming Tales w/ Jules
When did Nintendo beat Yakuza? Nintendo is a fucking handheld device manufacture for last 20 years
This was actually pretty cool lol
Both Kiryu and Majima is just a fucking sad yakuza. Change my mind
This was such good sh!t, pal!
Nintendo wasn't doing too well, there was just no competition. Japan in 60s and 70s was still closed to foreign investment and imports so anything would do, especially that during 50s and 60s most resources were used up to make food for starving population, the demand for toys and entertaiment was high. Funny though how people ''forgot'' that and are pushing narrative it was high quality of product. No, it often was not (because of lack of materials and expertise).
I just beat Yakuza 6 two weeks ago
The bald bard of what culture strikes again. hoping for more vids like this.
You clicked baited
me with kiryu thumbnail
I’m not playing like a dragon. It will just make me like kiryu’s saga less
Tesco brand comedy? Joules mate you ain't even Sainsbury's.
Jules, Jules! i love you man, but its Beh-He-Moth, not beyamoth
the term maybe ... but implying this tale is how the yakuza was greated is laughable if not insulting
Very interesting
I dunno Jules, the giraffe schtick sucked :P
Mario is a jakuza member and bowser is the police chief so all those games are 100% propaganda
Yakooza lmao
I enjoyed this
